Fish Man Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 this is my first time on this tread........... but how bout the Orioles?? Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted March 26, 2007 Super User Posted March 26, 2007 I can fill you in Hawgin so you dont miss what this 50 pg's of nonsense is about. Cards beat the Mets, Cards beat the Tigers to win the WS. Other then that. The rest was meaningless. Especially all that yankee stuff. That ought to get the ball rollin. Well said G. I am glad it's that time of year again. GO CARDS!!! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Well the Mets have one heck of a bull pen But who is gonna start. WE NEED STARTING PITCHING this aint gonna be pretty in the beggining of the year. Minya is smart i hope his choices pan out Im looking for Wright or Beltran to make a run at MVP this year! Quote
Hawgin Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I was really suprised that the Mets didn't go after more pitching this offseason. I think Maine could be a solid, but unspectacular pitcher, and I can't believe they are actually counting on Oliver Perez to produce. As for Wright, that guy is one heck of a player. He's probably my favorite third basemen in the game right now (until this year gets rolling and Alex Gordon takes off.) I could see him truly making a run at the MVP, although lets be honest, if he doesn't get hurt Pujols should have that award locked up for the next 5 years. However, as someone who has watched Beltran shy away from pressure situations, he will contine to be a very good player, but I don't think he has it in him to up his game to an MVP type level. One other guy who could put up the big time numbers though is Delgado. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The Mets definitely need a better rotation. Pedro isnt comin' back till july or august and no one else is that great. I think it could be a break out year for Oliver Perez though. They have Glavine (old but good), El Duque (old but ok), Maine (decent), oliver perez, and chan ho park (hasnt been good since the dodgers). Lucky for the mets though they pretty much have the best lineup in baseball. They look a lot like that other team from New York that has a strong lineup and weak rotation. The Cardinals are in a similar situation but there rotation is just unproven. Only 2 out of the 5 starters have been a starter for over a year. I still think their rotation is decent and will be a lot like last year coming into the season. hopefully Mulder can come back to self in july. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 27, 2007 Super User Posted March 27, 2007 Now, about them Royals. No illusions of granduer this year, but I'm pumped to see how/if these guys develop this year. I hope Teahan recovers and continues to contribute like he did last year, Ryan Shealy could be a nice breakout player, Greinke should be over his "issues" and has really been bringing it in spring training, and of course Alex Gordon should challenge for R.O.Y. and be our all-star rep for many years to come. And before the Gil Meche cracks start, just realize the Yanks are starting Pavano, and he's making the same jack as Meche. Who would you rather have? I'm right there with you. Royals fan till the day I die through the good, the bad, and the ugly. Hey all you big payroll teams ...... Don't worry. There is plently of young talent on this Royals team. We will break them in for you for the next 3 to 4 years so they can become All-Stars for you. The future is looking bright for you guys. : ;D Quote
bassmasta7 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Thats about right KU. They started to spend money this off season but they spent it all on Gill Meche.?? You guys need some new ownership. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 27, 2007 Super User Posted March 27, 2007 Tell me about it Quote
Hawgin Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Thats about right KU. They started to spend money this off season but they spent it all on Gill Meche.?? You guys need some new ownership. Ownership is a problem, but I am developing a lot of confidence in our new GM Dayton Moore. I have some reservations about the Meche signing, but the $11 million he gave Meche basically washes with Sweeney's salary, and he is in the final year of his contract. I would gladly trade Sweeney right now for an major league average pitcher, and in essence that is what the R's have done. Besides when you look at the market, Zito and Schmidt were not coming to KC, so we basically paid the same amount of money this year that Ted Lilly, Vicente Padilla, Jeff Suppan, and Jason Marquis got. Out of that group, I'll roll the dice with Meche. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 27, 2007 Super User Posted March 27, 2007 I agree with you on Dayton Moore, at least he is saying the right things. Now if Glass would just give him a little money to work with. Quote

Hey GMAN......that got the ball rollin ;D.....My Yankee stuff ain't gonna be meaningless this year......if....if....if...if....the pitching surprises.....which it may....Pettite (welcome home Andy), Wang (he'll be there in 3 weeks), Mussina (the old man keeps on keepin on), Pavano (he's gotta be good at some point, law of averages), Igawa (we're hopeful) and some really promising wings in the minors (the best news)......a great lineup....it's gonna be ARods year....and Mr Torre to lead us back to the promised land.....AND we do have MR JETER!!!!!!!!!!
