BucketmouthAngler13 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 dude, once nexts year's baseball season starts someone should bump this thread, and all the trash talking will start again! Over the years, bass fishing baseball fans will build the largest thread ever known to a forum! And all thanks to MUDDYMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 I still dont believe it, it hasnt sunk in. This is crazy. The first championship of any of my favorite teams in any sport in my life. I think part of the reason it hasnt sunk in is because during the last game I had no worries. Win one of the next three with Weave, Supp, and Carp pitching. I am just so happy we won. Maybe Jr can make this a perfect weekend by capping it off with a win at Atlanta this weekend. I think we should lock this thread. Maybe have Muddy have some closing words and then start another thread. "The season is over and let the braggin begin" JK or "Free agency is in view and the money is flyin" (mostly from the Yankees) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Hey Fellas How bout this Lets let all who contributed to this thread give a closing statement Lets say we do it till Nov 1,2006 Just some closing word from all who stayed with this thread since the allstar break THIS ISNT MY THREAD it would not have been possible without the likes of Risk Kid, Yankees winGMan.Valsucus,Bassmasta7,KmaC,SENILE ETC ETC AND NBOUCHER WHO LEFT WHEN THOSE SORRY SOX GOT WASHED OUTTA THE MIX(TRASH TALK) So lets all get together and close it If it was my thread of me taliking every day EVEN THOUGH THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE BASEBALL EXPERIENCE it would never have lasted this long THEN WE WILL LOCK THE TRHEAD Ill Ask the MODS How to do that> Thanks to all Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Good idea muddy, but do you mean 2006 because 2007 is a long way away. ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Hey Stop picking on the old guy ;D Yea 2006 Ill modify it Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 29, 2006 Super User Posted October 29, 2006 My final thoughts on the 2006 season? WOW ;D ;D ;D It was a wild ride for the Birds. In 2004 we won 105 games and got our brains beat out by a Boston team that would not be denied. This year we had a bunch of key players hurt and limped into the playoffs, and we were the team that would not quit. Baseball is a great game. 8-) This thread made the season more fun for me. I looked forward to check in every day to see what was going on. There was a lot of good natured kidding and talk that made the whole thing more interesting. Thank you all for helping make the 2006 season an unforgetable one for this WORLD CHAMPION St. Louis Cardinal fan. Quote
Valascus Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 Boy it is still sinkin' in. How cool is this? Looks like I'll be asking for some WS Champs gear this Christmas. Let's see fitted WS Champs hat, WS Champs Shirt, and WS Champs Jersey...all authentic MLB. I don't like wearing the knock off stuff when it comes to my sports apparell...although baseball is the only sports apparell I wear. SO...now the season is in the bag. Baseball is ALMOST all but over. A couple more things will now be coming to pass. Baseball awards season! Who do you all have winning what awards? NL and AL MVP, NL and AL Cy Young, NL and AL Rookie of the Year, and Gold Gloves. Who do y'all think? NL MVP- To me this is the toughest one to pick. I am gonna go with Pujols since the Cards made the playoffs and probably would not have if not for his good Sept. But, Ryan Howard is also worthy of the award I believe. AL MVP- Derek Jeter, hands down. He was the glue that held that Yankees organization "together" during all those injuries and helped carry that team in those times. NL Cy- I honestly do not believe that any starting pitcher pitched well enough to get the award. If we would have had a pitcher with 17 wins they would have been the closest. Out of all the NL starting pitchers, Chris Carpenter is probably the forerunner. BUT, he is not my choice. I think Trevor Hoffman has a great shot at getting the award, and should get it. 46 saves out of 51, 2.14 ERA in 63 innings pitched, and 50 strikeouts to only 13 walks...all on top of surpassing Lee Smith's all time saves record. AL Cy- Duh...Johan Santana. Need I say more? NL Rookie of Year - Dan Uggla. He was the best on a rookie on a Florida Marlins team was basically ALL rookies. Can't they just give it to the whole Florida team? : AL Rookie of Year- Justin Verlander. He was the best starting pitcher on a LOADED Detroit starting rotation. Gotta give him the nod. Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 If its doable ( is that a word outside of Brooklyn) Im in Id even go if the Yankees were involved ;D Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 yeah, its a word, we used that on Staten Island too, I think I heard it some when when I was in St Louis, those guys kept using it when they were talkin about winning the series When the baseball schedule comes out next year we can figure it out.....maybe we can go to a game one day and get GMAN to show us a fishin hole the next day? I will agree with you TOTALLY riskkid!!! I wish to throw a VERY, VERY special THANK YOU!! To the muddy man. I don't always have the time to look at the stats and follow as closely as I once did, but it sure has been fun "throwin crap" around w/Y"all!! The BIG St. Louis ain't out of the question for me. I sure wouldn't mind meeting up with any of you. I wish I could make it to Fork. That would be soooo! Cooool! I hope you guys KILL 'EM. Muddy, I again want to thank you for starting the whole thread. Why start a new thread??? Can't we get the MODs to keep this thing going as The "Baseball Thread"?? It's all about baseball ain't it? Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 HEY FELLAS ITS BACK Season opening next week figured we would start early this year. METS ARE IN THE HUNT!!!!!!!! Im gonna see if they will make a sticky out this thread for the season How is everyone doin out there in baseball land? Quote
RiskKid. Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 UH OH.....Wang out for a month....Pavano to start first game ......good thing we open with Tampa Bay! Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 You know its gonna be a nail biter of a year when our greatest pitching hopes lie with "Mr. Durable" starting opening day. I just hope that somehow Pavano makes it to at least the all-star break before he comes apart at the seams...litterally. Opening night should be a VERY good game (Mets v. Cards), and may even be a pre-cursor to the NLCS. I'm picking the Mets to win this game, but I'm also picking the Cards to take the NLCS again, so we'll have to see what's gonna happen... Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Here we go again another season is among us. GO CARDS. Quote
Troutfisher Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 As stated in the second post I made in this thread, How 'bout them Marlins? Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 As stated in the second post I made in this thread, How 'bout them Marlins? Oh, man, thanks for the chuckle...I haven't laughed like that since someone said, "How 'bout them Royals." Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Marlins?? I guess they taste better than Tuna anyway Mets vs Cards first ESPN game thats a switch the only time ESPN covers the Mets usually is when another game gets rained out ;D Quote
Hawgin Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Somehow I missed this whole thread last summer, but if you fellas don't mind I'm going to jump in. Now, about them Royals. No illusions of granduer this year, but I'm pumped to see how/if these guys develop this year. I hope Teahan recovers and continues to contribute like he did last year, Ryan Shealy could be a nice breakout player, Greinke should be over his "issues" and has really been bringing it in spring training, and of course Alex Gordon should challenge for R.O.Y. and be our all-star rep for many years to come. And before the Gil Meche cracks start, just realize the Yanks are starting Pavano, and he's making the same jack as Meche. Who would you rather have? Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I can fill you in Hawgin so you dont miss what this 50 pg's of nonsense is about. Cards beat the Mets, Cards beat the Tigers to win the WS. Other then that. The rest was meaningless. Especially all that yankee stuff. That ought to get the ball rollin. Quote
Troutfisher Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Marlins?? I guess they taste better than Tuna anyway Mets vs Cards first ESPN game thats a switch the only time ESPN covers the Mets usually is when another game gets rained out ;D You guys are terrible ;D Quote
