Super User senile1 Posted October 13, 2006 Super User Posted October 13, 2006 Yeah, Muddy, you're probably right about the blondes and redheads. I think tonight is a must win for the Cardinals. If we lose with Carpenter on the mound, it will be very hard to recover. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 13, 2006 Super User Posted October 13, 2006 Senile1 Your argument for Pujols is compelling; of course I am in your camp. As far as Beltran, he has become one of those that just seems to step it up a level against us. Like him or not, every time he comes to the plate he is a threat. I hope he goes 0- for the rest of the series. > My wife is a brunette, so I am unable to comment on blondes or redheads. Quote

(Don't tell Muddy_Man, but that's the real reason I don't like him.) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 I was so wrapped up in who was in I forgot a couple of thoughts about the ASTROS THEY DIDNT DOI IT and now (as I suspected and mentioned here) CLEMENS is suspected of jucing Man knock me over what a feather Now lets see if the Vid Heads on ESPN go after him like Bonds. Not as a racial issue, Clemens always had a good rapor with the press in ways BONDS didnt Lets see what happened. I belived he was jucing when he got on the stros and no one said a word! Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I didnt think it was gonna be easy!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sooner or later Albert is gonna break out we need every win we can get Once that happens the Cards will be dangerous Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 And the beast hits the game winning HR. Everybody say... SO TA GU CHI!!!!! (decent game by Speizio) Quote

RiskKid. Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 This one's lookin like fun...I think it will be back and forth thru 7 too How about those Tigers goin up 3-0........they got the MOJO and all the pundits said they were out of gas and done Quote
YankeesWin Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 This one's lookin like fun...I think it will be back and forth thru 7 too How about those Tigers goin up 3-0........they got the MOJO and all the pundits said they were out of gas and done riskkid, Don't ya think it would be cool for the Tigers to take the whole thing?? 8-) I sure am pullin' for 'em. I do think that the "A's" team is very interesting. I wonder if they've got something the Yankees could use next year?? Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 14, 2006 Super User Posted October 14, 2006 I think it would be a great story for the Cards to win it all this year as the underdog. We haven't had much sucess as the favorite. :-? With that said, Detroit looks like a champion. I love this time of year-baseball at its best. 8-) Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I have been dissappointed with the performance of the A's in the ALCS. I thought that their pitching would surprise everyone and their offense would get the job done. The offense hasnt done squat (in part becuase of Tiger's pitching) and I thought they would at least be able to pull out one win by now. I dont want to face the Tigers in the WS but it looks like we have to (after we win 3 out of the next 4). Im still laughing about So Taguchi. In the playoffs this year he has 2 at bats and 2 HR. During the regular season he had 316AB and 2 HR. He is a weird little man. In the playoffs he is batting 1.000, obp 1.000 and slugging 4.000. I didnt even know you could go that high in slg. I expect Taguchi to keep up with this 1 HR per AB avg. he is on. Jeter vs. Pujols i agree with senile and evidence of this is game 5 NLCS 2005. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I have suspected Clemens of using 'roids since he came to the Astros and now people are talking about it. Well I will have to change 'roids to performance enhancing drugs because it could very well could be HGH. If he hasnt been using PEDs then good for him for staying so healthy and strong at such an old age. That just seems very unlikely. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 That double Albert got is really bothering me. TimMcCarver is a jinx, let me explain. The year before Sousa started plastering home runs all over th NL,McCarver made an observation that proved so true. The Mets and Cubs were locked inot a meaningless late season game, trying to prove who had the worse team in the NL . It was tied score and the mets walked RHino to load the bases to get to Sousa , who was in a deep slump. McCarver cackled with that drawl of his WHAT A TIME FOR SAMMY TO BREAK OUT he hit the ball 440 feet to the right side of the score board IT BOUNCED INTO THE FREAKING PARKING LOT. The next few years he put HR totals up that were legandary Well last night , right before the double,They had Alberts numbers up against the six best all time players first 6 years Albert had better numbers than all except for Ted Williams first 6 year Batting Average ( they had Ruth oin the list, which didnt make sense as he was a pitcher for the first 5 years0 Anyway the McCarver drawl starts and Tim says SOONER OR LATER ALBERT IS GONNA GIVE US A POST SEASON PERFORMANCE THAT WILL PUT HIM AHEAD OF THESE GUYS 2 PITCHES LATER ALBERT HITS HIS DOUBLE if all holds up ALBERT GOT THE MCCARVER MOJO and the Mets are sunk :-/ Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 14, 2006 Super User Posted October 14, 2006 McCarver has a tendency to get on my nerves, but now that you mention it I'm liking him better. ;D ;D Quote
jbass Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 This one's lookin like fun...I think it will be back and forth thru 7 too How about those Tigers goin up 3-0........they got the MOJO and all the pundits said they were out of gas and done I'm a Giant's fan but we won't go there, D'oh, so I had to get behind the team I thought that had a chance to go all the way, GO TIGERS!!!! I really dislike the A's and everyone out here said that Kenny Rogers couldn't pull it off again like he b#$@$h slapped the Yankee's. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 14, 2006 Super User Posted October 14, 2006 The Cardinals picked the right time to rattle some bats. When Carpenter gave up the two home runs to Delgado, I thought it was all over. I don't think the Cardinals can afford for Carpenter to have another bad day. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Tim Mcarver is my favorite announcer .It broke my heart when Valentine pushed him outta the Mets booth b/c McCarver is a man of integrity and when the Mets stink( which is a lot of the time) he said so. McCarver was a great catcher, the only one I know who caught 2 hall of famers> I have his book BaseBall for Brain Surgeons and it taught me alot. Catchers are usually very knowledgable b/c they have to know thier pitching , the opposition hitting and set the defenses McCarver is all that and more> And I really appeciate his crackling enthusiasim for the game He is a great teacher of baseball BUT HE IS A &$&$ JINX Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 14, 2006 Super User Posted October 14, 2006 Hey muudy, no doubt McCarver is a knowledgabe baseball guy. I just wish he would hush and let me watch the game at times. I shoud not complain about color guys-Mike Shannon for the Cards is a mess, even when he's sober Bob Costas is the best play-by play guy in my opinion. Joe Buck is a close second. Tonight's game should be fun. May the best team win-as long it is the one in white and red! GO CARDS ;D ;D ;D Quote
GAMEOVER Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 It all about the Eye of the Tiger, World Series here we come! Were destined for this.. Quote
