bassmasta7 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Risk I think the Yanks would be in trouble because they would have to trade away their high paid players and a lot of teams wouldnt want to take on the old player's salary. The yanks are full of has-beens and the has-beens arent lookin good in their final game of the season. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Nope, looks like it will be carp vs. former card woody williams. I wish woody the worst of luck. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Hey Riskkid sorry for your team goin down. I cant say Im sorry for the Yankees :-/ Detroit vs A's thats going to be a good series for the ALCS BONDEMAN RULED TODAY I love those nasty sliders Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted October 7, 2006 Super User Posted October 7, 2006 :) :). Â That's all I have to say. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 :) :). That's all I have to say. 8-) Well looks like I will have to ask if the yankees are still in it Monday. Â Think I will get fired. ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 MADDUX may be old but he is very crafty Trachel's era looks like Maddux's age Hope we get outta here with a win tonite ;D Quote
Bassassasin12 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 dane yankees played like crap today, watch out for some big postseason moves from the Bronx bombers boys. Â Heres a list if what I would do if I was Georgy..... 1. Fire Joe Torre 2. Sign Joe Girardi 3. Offer Barry Zito a fat contract 4. Trade A-Rod for a stud pitcher 5. Pick up a reliable 3rd basemen 6. Bring up the stud pitcher in AAA 7. Trade for or pick up another 1st basemen 8. Shoot Big Papi and Ramirez in the arms. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Good thing I am not a betting man - for me that is - thought the Yankees were going to take it all this year. What a dissapointment. IMHO, they had it all and was their's to lose. Jeter was great the first game, then had moments of greatness defensively but his bat went a little cold. Damon and Abraieu (sp?) had a few shining moments and Giambi had some good moments, but, everyone else, just did not seem to have the fight in them. That has to be one of the biggest underacheivements. Detroit pitching was awesome - Verlander and Rogers were great against those Yankee hitters. Then bring in Zumaya behind them - wow - reminded me of Atlanta a few years ago. Not sure who I am pulling for now. Like to see the Cards win again. Like the Mets as well (enjoying the LA game right now, but the mets just flubbed a fly and loaded the bases with one out - getting interesting). But, I really enjoyed watching those tigers. Think I am just going to sit back and enjoy the games. LA just scored 2, this is getting interesting.......... Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Thats what happens when Trachel cant go 5 innings 4 up,Kent loves hurting the Mets since they let him go :-/ Well the bats came alive Top of the 6 we are back on top 7 to 5 Im on my way to work hope they hold on to win Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Pretty close to wrappin' it up now muddy. I was cheerin' for the Dodgers tonight though because my dad and i were gonna go to the cards game if it was a day game but since the mets are going to win it will be a night game. The last flight back to atlanta from STL is 530ish BOOO. Well I get to watch it on tv tomorrow night then. Congrats Muddy and your Mets... see you on Wednesday. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 See Ya Mr Bassmasta7 Those Yankee fans are crazy They have Torre , opne of the best baseball heads in the world and they want him fired!!!!!!!! They deserve the owner they have  > Anyway sorry your game plans didnt wrk out I fear the Cards they are a great team Who do you guys like across the street  I say Detroit in 6 Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Hats off to the tigers and Leyland.....they took us to the woodshed and gave us an old fashioned butt whoopin  The last thing we need to do is get rid of Torre...we just need to buy and develop some pitching and see if a deal can be worked for A Rod (I think that would be best for him and the Yanks)...this team is still a legit contender GMAN...a word of advice....the Yankees ain't worth your job..but if it helps tell your boss I said screw him if he can't take a joke  ;D ;D ;D AND NOW FOR THE REST OF THE POST SEASON............. HEY MUDDY, HOW ABOUT OUR AMAZIN METS  Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 OHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO ESPN is already reporting that Torre will be replaced by Lou Piniella........ Why don't they just see if they can bring Billy Martin back to life....... This is a very bad idea.....Lou is too hot headed for this team I'm still a fan of The Boss overall but sometimes you have to wonder Quote
Bassassasin12 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I actually have no problem with the firing of Torre. I am sick of seeing al lthe other teams managers i nteh dugout connecting with their players and walking around slapping fives and then they show torre just sitting there doing absolutley nothing. I bet he can't wait for the games to get over. Now about Lou??? I don't know if that was the right move or the wrong move, it could work or it could be a catastrophe. One thing we know is doesnt take crap from any of the wimpy players so if we end up keeping Arod I think Lou will toughen him up big time. I would have loved to get Joe Girardi I know he is going to be a big time manager in years to come. Just look what he did with the Marlins, he almost had them in the playoffs. I dont know why Flordia would let him go. Oh well there is always next year. I am now officially rooting for Oakland. Quote
CJ Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Wow!Detroit is plaiyn' some ball.I wish the Cards would have got the job done yesturday. Now Carpenter has got to start another game in this series and I thought it would be good if we could save him. They have to win today! I can't believe George would fire Torre.Alot of Yankees fans remind me of the Jews during the days of the crucifiction. They cheered Jesus on when he came into Jerusalem for passover then had him killed a few days later! How many times has Torre took them to the World Series? Then some Yanks wanna get rid of A-Rod(the next best hitter in baseball ). Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 8, 2006 Super User Posted October 8, 2006 Muddy_man, congratulations on a great series. We'll see you in St. Louis later in the week (I HOPE). Detroit looks like a team on a mission-they will be hard to beat. Riskkid, once agan we see that the best team on paper does not always win. At least when a Yankees fan says there's always next year they are probably right. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Hey Cardinal Fans Pray and root for your team What a great classic playoff this can be between two hitting teams with Starter problems METS VS CARDS I cant wait  That nut in the Bronx is gonna can Torre for Pinella Not that there is anything wrong woth Sweet Lou , but Torre is one of the best in the business  You know why the Yankess failed  A-Rod thats why, period A guy gets that much moola and doesnt deliver is accountable Usually I would look at a whole team but this falls in his non hitting lap  Jeter got 5 hits the first game until LEYLAND realized that ARod was once again gonna be a post season non issue so Jeter never saw the same pitching again, look back everything was just outta the stike zone, b/c Detoit could afford to walk him knowing they had an out at best, or possibly a double play outta the Yankees "Biggest Gun"  What worries me  is ARod has a good relationship with Minya and the Mets have a legacy of going after players like him  To be continued Quote
Bassassasin12 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 For those of you that think A-rod is one of the top players in baseball, you must not watch any yankee games at all. The dude just has no heart and never has since he joined the Yankees. I thought after he got in that fight with Varitek he would be loyal to the Yanks for a long time but he just doesnt focus in the games and can't get the job done in the clutch. Torre shouldnt have messed with him and batted him 8th in that last game though. Arods problem is he over analyzes things and that will only cause him to think about things even more. Â Muddy hopefully your mets will go after A rod and give us someone who has some kahunas. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I think all the regular contributors to this thread should chip in and pay A Rods air fare to Anaheim so it keeps him off our teams Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I am now sold on the Tigers. Coming into the playoffs i was still unsure about them but now i see the light. This AL series has the potential to be great pitching wise. If the Tigers are smart then they will start Verlander in game 1. GO CARDINALS! The Cards will take A Rod if they only have to pay for half of his salary. Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 Careful Bassmasta.....we may make that deal.....the Rangers are paying a big portion of A Rods salary....the Yanks are actually paying Jeter more than they are paying A Rod....the difference is coming out of the Rangers pocket....as great a player as he is he sure has choked in the playoffs for us......hey how about an even up trade..... A Rod for Pujols  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm still a little bitter.....go A's (after all they were our unofficial minor league team when they were in KC.....I remember when Billy Martin got sent there for getting Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford in trouble  ;D) I'm gonna go with my NY brothers.......Go Mets all the way  Quote

The Cards will take A Rod if they only have to pay for half of his salary. Based upon what I have seen out of A-rod the last couple of years in the post season, half of his current salary would still be too much money. Â I do not mean to be too critical, but this guy's heart just does not seem to be in the game - especially the post season. Â I saw no emotion from him at all this year until the "controversial" tag at third the other night; and that was nothing. Â Unload A-rod & his salary, take care of Jeter and shore up the pitching. Â These guys, especially Johnson, are getting older and are hurt, can't see them around too much longer. Yankees need to keep Torre - period. Â Agree with Muddy, he is one of the best in the game. Â Maybe Steinbrenner will do him like Billy Martin and bring him back when the next manager fails to meet his (Steinbrenner) unrealistc expectations. Eddie Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 This one hurts but this thread is so much fun and all you guys have been great so I'm gonna do this for the anti Yankee guys here.......especially for you GMAN, this will surely get you fired if you use it  ;D ;D ;D http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=list/yankeehaters/061008 Quote
