Siebert Outdoors Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Mets and Dodgers Cards and Padres Oh crap, I was hoping the cards vs mets right off the bat. With the last showing against the Padres, well you guys get the drift. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Hey G man those new Rapala minnow-raps will hit the stores just in time Ill let you know what size and color after we beat you guys!!!! : Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Might not happen muddy, your mets have to beat the dodgers first. Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Muddy....if the Met's win out and the Yanks get in you may as well have GMAN ship that Rapala directly to me ;D ;D ;D ;D Hope we get there and get the Dodgers.....we have 8 WS over them......gotta get past the AL guys first though Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 My Predictions: Cardinals Cardinals Padres Cardinals Dodgers Mets Mets CARDINALS (6 games) Twins Twins A's Twins Yankees Yankees Tigers This may be very biased but I just think everything is going to click this year. I think and hope we will be looking back in a month and say wow remember when the Cards almost didnt even make the playoffs. I think the Yanks pitching is going to show wear and wont be able to handle the Twins pitching. I dont think the Padres are that good and up until this year the Cards have owned the Padres during the regular season and post season. I dont think the pads are deep enough and i dont think their pitching is that great. I had to change my vote from dodgers to mets for one reason, Carlos Beltran. Two years ago he tore it up in the playoffs I think he will carry the Mets through the division series. I think the Cards will be carried by one player past the Mets, Albert Pujols. I expect him to go crazy during the playoffs and will do like Beltran did 2 years ago. I think that the cards pitching will be good enough to win the World Series against the Twins. I think Santana will be good but none of the other Twins pitchers will be good enough. Cards win in 6 MVP: Albert Pujols. The Cards will win despite the domination of the AL the last couple years. Cards have the playoff and World Series experience to go all the way unlike every other NL team and the Tigers. The A's and the Twins dont have any playoff experience past the first round. *dont forget about the A's pitching they could be a big upset team( they were picked by SI as the World Series champs at the beginning of the year vs. the Cards) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Anyone see probbale starters yet? Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Wang - Robertson Zito - Santana Peavy - Carpenter Lowe - El Duque I'd like to see Glavine vs Maddux but it doesn't look like it will happen Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Anyone with game 1 winners? 4 me, Tigers, Twins, Cards, Mets Wow, after watching all the sports shows and reading articles nobody is going with the cards to get out of the 1st round, everyone thinks they are the worst team in the playoffs. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 This is it fellas Good luck to all your teams Im gonna be watching all the Mets games for sure and as many of all the other games as possible and to quote that noted philosopher from the great movie DUCK SOUP in which GRAUCHO MARX says "OF COURSE YOU KNOW THIS MEANS WAR!" RiskKid. Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Hey Y'all check this out http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2006/columns/story?id=2608050&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1 Quote
Valascus Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Yeah...that Cardinals made it, but I don't think they will make it out of the first round. The Cardinals ONLY saving grace is that the way the playoff schedule stacks up with the days off and travel, Carp can pitch on full rest TWICE in a short series. He has looked a little mortal of late, but if for some reason the Padres offense can't get to him we may have a chance. That being said though...I think the Cards are gonna have problems scoring runs against a very very very good Padres pitching staff (starters and bullpen). Jake Peavy will also get to go twice on full rest if necessary. Chris Young is WAY better than anybody in our rotation past Carp. If I had to pick a winner, numbers wise and all common baseball knowledge point squarely to the Padres. Hopefully that Cardinals prove me wrong. :-/ Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 3, 2006 Super User Posted October 3, 2006 Hey Y'all check this out http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2006/columns/story?id=2608050&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1 Good article. I agree that going into post-season the Yankees look like the team to beat. We Cardinal fans know very well that being the "team to beat" does not get it done. On paper we should have won in 85 and 87, but could not close the deal. I don't have a clue what to expect from the Cardinals. When we play well, we can beat anybody-other times we just phone it in. It should be fun to see what happens. PLAY BALL! 8-) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 This is my favorite time of this year usually the Mets are home like me watching this. It is gonna be tough for us but YOU GOTTA BELIEVE!!!! Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 3, 2006 Super User Posted October 3, 2006 Pujols, Carpenter, and the Mooks are 1-0. ;D ;D ;D Hope springs eternal... Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 No that was a great game, thats what the Cards are capable of its good to see thyem up to form> We go tommorow ar 400pm est Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 4, 2006 Super User Posted October 4, 2006 Good luck Muddy. I hope the cards and Mets get together next week. That will be fun Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Good luck Muddy. I hope the cards and Mets get together next week. That will be fun Oh yes it will, Go Cards Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Attention all NL fans We had all better fear the #2 man in the Yankee order JETER first time up broken bat single and McCarver pointed out in his last 45 post eason at bats he has either been hit by pitch, walked or hit his way onto base. We have seen the face of the enemy and he is formidable. I hate to givee the pinstripe boys any play but IMHO Jeter is the best there is and he is thier sparkplug :-/ Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted October 4, 2006 Super User Posted October 4, 2006 Well, at least Jeter is off to a slow start :o Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 YIPPEEEEEE!!!! I just calmed down......way to go Red Bird fans.....this is fun.....you gotta join us tomorrow Muddy. YANKEES WIN YANKEES WIN Quote
Valascus Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 That was an all around well played Cardinals victory. The pitching was great (don't here that often this year associated with Cards), everyone in the line up chipped in a little offensively, including Carp, and Ronnie Belliard brought the defense. And all this happened against the Padres "best" pitcher. Gives me a little more hope than I previously had. But now the hard part comes...winning a game with someone OTHER than Carp on the mound. If the Cards somehow pull out a victory in the next couple games then we may have this series in the bag seeing as Carp is gonna get another shot at 'em. As K-Mac said....hope springs eternal. Quote
Valascus Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Man...I dunno Muddy. The Mets are suddenly starting to look very vulnerable on the pitching side of things. Pedro is out and El Duque' has a "tweaked calf" leaving you with Glavine, Trachsel, and....and...hmmm can't remember the numero five starter...brain fart. That series is looking to be an interesting one for sure. At least the Mets have a pretty beastly line up. Maybe that will help make up for any pitching woes that may arise. Good luck, but I think I'd rather see the Dodgers than the Mets in the NLCS. Not because I don't like the Mets, but because we railed on the Dodgers bad all year. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 NO EXCUSES professionals rise to the occassion. We are is desperate shape, stranger things have happened see US HOCKEY TEAM<69 METS and GIBSON Home Run VS the A's AND MAZOROKIS HOME RUN vs YANKEES. Anyway my last post was at Jeter's first at bat last night any one who doesnt see this guy as the best money player in the game, just dont know the game.He is to be feared and to think that they are paying A Rod more Quote
YankeesWin Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Muddy, You got it right... Jeter is the real deal. I've been a Yankee fan since I was 7 and in my house he isn't A-Rod. We call him Dill-Rod ;D (I can't stand the guy) Quote
