bassmasta7 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Yes they are. I turned the yankee game on just in time to see Robinson Cano break up the no hitter with only 2 outs to go. So close, yet... Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 It is amazing how a team can score 37 runs the past 3 days and all of a sudden they can only eek out one measly hit tonight. Baseball can be a crazy game.......(wonder what that says about us fans???) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Pedro is no big game pitcher What a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not like the Mets series hopes at this point. We need to starters desperatley other than Pedro and Glavine they should be playing in the AARP League Quote
Valascus Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 At this point I don't even consider the Cardinals deserving of a playoff berth. Let's face it. If they make it in...their first opponent will be a far superior San Diego Padres team that helped get us into this mess. The Astros have a far superior pitching staff while over the next few games we have to endure Weaver, Suppan (which isn't bad), and Reyes (which can very easily go either way). At this point I am willing to bet the Cards will take the "Choke Artist Throne" away from the 1964 Philidelphia Phillies. Might as well kiss our playoff chances, even if we make it, good bye :-*. > Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted September 29, 2006 Super User Posted September 29, 2006 Albert and the Mooks, and Heimlich instructions-funny stuff guys :-or a least it would be if it wasn't so painful to watch. :-[ I know Rolen homered last night, but he waived at a ball that allowed for a big inning early in the game. He is one of the best third basemen I've seen, but the whole team just seems to have quit. I guess it comes down to pitching-when the pitching is poor it effects everything else. :-? I know we still have a chance of post-season play, but it seems unlikely, and our chances of beating anyone there are not very good. OK, I feel better now. GO BIRDS ;D Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I dont think they should take a team from the NL this year to play in the WS. We are all that bad. It should be just two AL teams. The NL is just garbage.(Watch the NL will look like garbage and then slaughter some AL team) Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 So who do you guys think is playing the Yankees for the ws. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Weel thanks to el sicko for a chango PEDRO I dont know if we can do the whole deal this year I would say the Padres look the best, and the Philties look the most determined I still am hoping for my Mets , but even if Trachel steps up a notch I dont see the arms to do it Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 IDK about the Yanks going all the way. I still think any AL team could go to the series except the tigers. In the NL i like 1.Houston (if they make it) 2. Dodgers 3. Cardinals (if they make it) 4. Mets (If they make... just kidding) 5. Padres 6. Phillies Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Yo Guys, The Yanks are by no means a lock to get in.......the Twins, Tigers and A's are no slouches.....the Twins scare me the most right now.....I'm not bettin anything more than a Rapala DT that they'll make it. Anything can happen in a 5 game series. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Yeah, I think the twins are the yanks biggest threat. Then A's then Tigers. I am still not sold on the Tigers yet as a good playoff team untill they win their first series. The A's, Yanks, and Twins all have a good bit of playoff experience over the last 5 years but the tigers have 0. The Cards win last night and HOU loss last night felt so good. Magic number 2.(I still dont understand part of that.i mean if the cards win today and Houston wins the cards will have a 1 1/2 game lead heading into the final day. If the Cards lose sunday and Hou wins sunday the cards will have a 1/2 game lead). O wait, now i get it. They will make the Cards play monday even though they have a 1/2 game lead. Hey, what happened to all of ryan howard's homeruns? He hasnt hit a hr in like a week. Still he is 2 away from 60. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Hey, what happened to all of ryan howard's homeruns? He hasnt hit a hr in like a week. Still he is 2 away from 60. Good Question bassmata7 I hope hes not saving them for the Mets Our ace pitcher is now Trachel whos era is hoovering around 5 I am happy Minya is our GM he did an incredible job in a short time we need 2 starters bad for we can actually make a couple of WS runs over the next few years  8-) Quote
CJ Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Well things are looking better for the Cards and worse for the Mets.I'm picking the Cards to go to the WS!Sounds crazy?Nope,it's all about who's hot and who's not.L.A is on a roll,Phils and Stros will go home,Mets are Pedroless,Padres might get by,but I think it will come down to the Dodgers and Cards and I think the Cards will beat em'! The Cards may have solved their problems. If the starters can keep it close enough, the bats are coming alive.Wainright can close games. He's got the stuff.Problems solved?I hope so! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Dont worry Muddy, Phils are officially out of the playoffs so Mr. Howard wont be hurting any more pitchers. (except for tomorrow) Despite what the 'Stros do tonight, the cards most important regular season game might be tomorrow. If the Cards could go into the playoffs winning, then they could could cruise through the first round. Most likely it will be Cards vs. Dodgers first round and i think who ever wins that series will be off to the World Series. Im not going to make make my playoff predictions until Sunday night(or tonight if HOU loses). Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Well Im gonna put myself out here my WS pick: Ill be watching every pitch rooting for what ever NL team makes it Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Man it's lonely over here in the AL.....I just hope the Yanks make it to the series.....would love to see that lineup against some of those NL staffs  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D The Twins still scare the fool outta me  Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Now I say I will cheer for any NL team in the series but my mind might be changed if the team that knocks out the cards makes it to the series. If the cards arent in it and the tigers are then i will cheer for them because my grandad is a tiger fan. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 yyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Braves!!! Thank you!! Now lets see who gets to face Carp in game 1. Quote
CJ Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Well,I thought the Cards were making some magic but there in trouble. If they can't handle teams like the Brewers they don't got a chance against San Diego.I was hoping L.A would win the west because the Cards have dominated them this year. Anyway,it's going to take a miracle for them to get by the NLDS. The Yanks and Tigers is going to be a great series.I'm going with Detroit cause I don't like the Yankees. It will be Detroit and Minnesota in the ALCS. I want to say it's going to be the Cards and the Mets in the NLCS but it's going to take a MIRACLE! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 All I can do is pray to the ghost of 69 at this point. :-/ Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 shoooh wee, Â we squeked in just barely. Â But we made it. I'm dreaming of a nice new shiny rapala shipped from NY to MO. Maybe thats what I need to catch fish. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 2, 2006 Super User Posted October 2, 2006 Yes. Â The Cardinals backed into the playoffs. Â Now LaRussa needs to hire a hypnotist to get these pitchers in the zone. Â Our pitching sucks. Â We aren't scoring runs. Â The leaf needs to turn over now before Tuesday. Â I'm praying for a Cinderella story. Quote
RiskKid. Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I like my Yankees chances on paper.....but they don't play the game on paper. Always exciting to be in the playoffs. Welcome aboard Card fans.....took you guys long enough! Â ;D. GMAN, who is that team that the Met's are playing? Â ;D ;D ;D Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 not sure, I dont see where they have posted who is playing who first. Â Quote
