bassmasta7 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I dont want you to look it up, that would be cheating. ANSWER: Fernando Tatis against the Dodgers and Chan Ho Park gave up both of 'em. I got tonights Aflac Trivia question right. It was in 1988 what 3 Cardinals stole at least 40 bases each? Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I know two of them Brock and Coleman Quote
bassmasta7 Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Yup, and the other one is my dad's alltime favorite player. Willie Mcgee. Coleman had 80 somethin' SB that year. You dont see that much any more. Wow, we are already on page 11. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 That's right page11! Most of you Cards fans will be outta here by page15 anyway Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Willie McGee was a lot like Mookie Wilson for the Mets He was always startin something He was also a lot better player than Mookie Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 That's right page11! Most of you Cards fans will be outta here by page15 anyway Pipe down Muddy. You know that your Mets will bomb when the time is right. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 GMAN is right, and our pitching will peak in the playoffs. Jeff Weaver will become the Jeff Weaver of old, Jason Isringhausen will be the '04 IZZY, Mulder will be the A's Mulder, and Anthony Reyes will be the one-hitter against the White Sox ace. Well i hope that happens. Oh no IZZY is coming in :o Please dont blow this 7 run lead. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted August 31, 2006 Super User Posted August 31, 2006 The NL wildcard race is going to be something else. Don't know who I want to take it though. I pretty much hate every team in the chase. Don't know if I want to see Cincy or Houston in the playoffs though. Quote

Well i hope that happens. Oh no IZZY is coming in :o Please dont blow this 7 run lead. Except that Mulder's season is done. And it looks, to me anyway, that the Cards have no clue what they wanna do with their starting pitching. They have been talking about David Wells...in my book...The Padres can have him. Too old, ERA over 5, and he's a rental at best cuz he doesn't WANT to pitch here...he WANTS San Diego. Doesn't look to me that they have a choice except to go with a rotation of Carp, Reyes, Suppan, Marquis, and Weaver. When the 40 man rosters open up hopefully they can add some bullpen depth. I hope they pull everything together. At least the offense is starting to perk up a bit. But Jim Edmonds is out indefinately now, Gary Bennett could be headed to the DL leaving us with ONE catcher. I think we'll make the playoffs, but it has ben and is going to continue to be a bumpy ride. Izzy just needs to either get his cutter back up to snuff or ship out. No room for error at the back of the bullpen when starting pitchers ERAs are so high. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 One of you St.Louis Fans should send Izzy a small piece of sand paper or a tack MAYBE SOME HAIR GEL something HE NEEDS IT :exclamation Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Or maybe call the Nikro Residence ;D : Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 31, 2006 Super User Posted August 31, 2006 Yup, and the other one is my dad's alltime favorite player. Willie Mcgee. Coleman had 80 somethin' SB that year. You dont see that much any more. Wow, we are already on page 11. Lou Brock, one of my favorite Cardinals of all time, retired after the 1979 season. The three with over 40 stolen bases were McGee, Coleman, and the Wizard of Oz, himself, Ozzie Smith. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 We lost to the Rockies :-/ the only thing worse would be to loose to the Pirates!!!!!!!! At least Wagner is getting his mechanics back together. I begining to think he may have been pitching hurt. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 The Rockies are bad but they've got a couple good young players like matt holiday and jeff francis. Francis had a great start against the Cards a couple weeks ago and beat the mets last night. I can remember when the cards used to win every game like muddy's mets. Oh good times. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Its hard to pitch in that stadium Did any Rocky ever win 20 games in a season? Quote
CJ Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Best I could find was 17 games won by a Colorado pitcher,in a single season.Kevin Ritz and Pedro Astacio both went 17-11 at one time during their Rockie career. The Cards are going to be in this thing. However Mulder is NOT!I believe it is going to rely on starting pitching and for the rest of the position players to stay healthy. If it weren't for the inconsistant starting pitching and the ? Izzy puts over our heads, they would have the make up of a championship team! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Yeah i think they will give mulder one more shot and since it is september call ups Anthony Reyes will get another shot. I think Reyes will take Mulder's job for the playoffs. Wow, the Cards really need a number 2 starter. Not looking to good. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 The Rockies have only had one starter to have a season era under 4.00. It was Joe Kennedy 3.66. It is very tough to pitch there Although Mike Hampton did have 7hr in a season as a pitcher their so it evens out. Quote
CJ Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Mulder has been lifted off the active roster, thank goodness(looked like he was pitching BP).Reyes has been called up.Suppan is the cards #2 starter.Look at his home record and he has a 2.38 era since the break.Nothing wrong with that. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 You guys should be praying for the ghost of GIBSONS PAST to save your butts!!! Quote
CJ Posted September 3, 2006 Posted September 3, 2006 I don't know about the ghost of Gibson's past, but the ghost of the Cardinals future just dominated Pittsburg today. He made the NL batting leader look like a little girl :-*!And ofcourse the King of the NL showed all Mets fans why David Wright is not going to be MVP.That's just a little taste of what's to come. Okay seriously, the Cards may be coming togather. When it comes playoff time,it ain't gonna matter what a team did all year. What is going to matter, who's hot and who's not. Who's hot:Reyes and Pujols Who's not:Izzy(somebody needs to do something, seriously!) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Ill tell you who is hot and none of us have really talked about him much Howard 3 more HR's I think that brings him to 52 and hes stuck on a bad team! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Howard is a beast. I'm startin to think his numbers might be good enough to when the mvp despite being on a mediocre team. If he were to help the Phils win the wild card he would definitely be my MVP. This guy could hit 60 HRs this year!! He would join Ruth, Maris, McGwire, Sosa, and Bonds. He would be the only modern day hitter to do it and would have no steroid talk around him (makes you wonder if this would be a big deal without steroids). He also won the Hr derby. So much for that theory of the home run derby ruining the rest of your year. Quote
CJ Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I agree,Howard is on fire. But if the Phillies don't win the wild card then he don't get the MVP.Why?Because his batting average. In order for a player to win MVP with out his team going to the playoffs,he needs to be in the top 5 in RBI's,HR,BA,Runs, and Walks.Nobody needs to come near that players accomplishments that season.Just as Dawson did in 87.
