RiskKid. Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 GMAN....C'mon over to the dark side . You'll love it when you hear YANKEES WIN...........YANKEES WIN so often!!!!! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Oh Mulder Time to watch Bristol. Val, I just did the save % thing right before I clicked on this thread and I also did Wagner his was about 86% i think. Not good but a lot better than Isringhausen. Think that is 9 games the Cards should have won if IZZY hadnt blown it in the ninth. We would be 7 games up on the Reds and would be rolling away with the division. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted August 24, 2006 Super User Posted August 24, 2006 I hate to see Mulder get shelled in his first game back. We really, really need him. : Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Hey tough loss for the Cards they were trying to come back The Vid heads on ESPN were goin on about them puttin Mul back against the Mets THIS WAS THE RIGHT MOVE he is healthy again and he needs to face lineups like this to get that team a ring On another note your Carnial pitching is doing wonders for the Met's team BA Quote
Valascus Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Yeah bassmasta...I have had on blinders concerning Izzy for a while now, but no more. I have seen the light. I keep seeing that Beltran homer in my head...and that wasn't just a homer...that was a "I know what you are gonna throw and where you're gonna throw it" type of swing. THAT'S what concerns me. That and the fact that it was THE FIRST PITCH Beltran saw. When is Izzy's contract up anyway? Izzy has the capability to be a great closer, he just needs to update his pitching arsenal a little and mix things up. But whether he does that or not is a different story. He has been doing things this way for so long he may not want to change, and just flat may not be open to new ideas. Don't get me started on Mulder...he just isn't the same pitcher that he used to be. Period. He might come back around, but the chances of that are slim. All conventional wisdom says that he should have gotten BETTER pitching in the national league. But it has been the exact opposite, he has been on a rapid decline since coming over here. Throws up red flags for me. Kinda makes me think Billy Beane knew something we didn't. Makes him look like a genius offloading Mulder and picking up two of our better pitchers outta our pen. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah BlahBlah well maybe we can go 1/3. Hey Muddy, do you know how the playoffs teams will be lined up? Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I belive the wild card plays the team with the best record Then 5 teams become 4 then 4 become one then the Mets go to the World Series 8-) Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 so if that is true then the cards wont be playing the mets. At the rate they are going the first team they play they will be watching the world series at home. Quote
CJ Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I'm glad I missed the game last night. :(I guess I'll watch tonight.Let's see.....Marquis is pitching for the birds. He will throw a no hitter or give up 10 runs by the third! : Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Hey G man the reality for the Mets is they do not have the arms to go the whole way Pedro, when he comes back is going to take some time to get back to form As he gets older, you will notice he gets hurt more and more as fall sets in JUST WHEN WE NEED HIM THE MOST Glavine is trying to avoid surgery which just tells opposing hitters to sit on his fast ball And we never know which Wagner is gonna show up on any given day. Both our squads have major pitching woes If you notice there is no shortage of runs being scored by either squad I do belivee that Wright has a more honest calim on this years MVP than Albert. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Yea and unfortuntley it goes by numbers as well as team contribution Through no fault of his own the best player in the NL will probablly loose out this year b/c of his injury PS albert Puljos is the best every day player in the NL by far but dont be surprised what the next few years show Wright doing Hes an incredible and young player With Wright and Reyes signed to long term contracts the Mets have one of the most solid infields in the league Quote
CJ Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 I totally agree with you about Wright. He is going to be a superstar, well he is already.I think the Mets will own the NL east for a while.I still think Pujols has the MVP in his back pocket. HR RBI AVG. Runs Wright 22 90 .298 80 Pujols 38 107 .328 93 I know Wright has an awesome glove but Pujols may be looking at a Gold Glove this year! On the other hand,Pujols has contributed to the Cards as much as Wright has for the Mets,I mean do the Mets have a 13 game winner with an E.R.A over 5? :. Quote

bassmasta7 Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 If David Wright is Pujols' closest competition in the MVP race, then Albert does have it in the bag. I dont think David Wright will even get the most MVP votes on his team. Carlos Beltran is having a much better year with the stats to boot. 286 36hr 103RBI. All of his stats except batting avg. are much better than Wrights. I think Ryan Howard (.292 44hr 114RBI)(he leads nl in hr and RBI) will also get some votes but he isnt on a first place team. Keep in mind the Cards still have the second best record in the nl. Pujols has started to surge and I think he will be great in the post season and will win the MVP award. I think Pujols will hit at least 50homers this year. Lets hope Marquis can hold 'em to at most 6 runs tonight. Quote
CJ Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 The Mets are going to wish they would have stayed home tonight!!!!! Quote
CJ Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 In 20 years when they speak of Albert Pujols....There will be NO MAN worthy of being added to the conversation! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 First off the greatest Cardinal of all times is Stan Musuial hands down Albert aint on the same floor yet with him Secondly the best Card I have seen in my time was BOB GIBSON and the best every day player wearing a Cards uniform was Ozzi Smith and before you go off with the Hombre stuff he has to play a few more years at his current Spectacular level to fit in with that crowd Secondly Wright was hurt twice this year I dont know if he was on the DL the firsat time but the second time he played through it and his numbers suffered HE DID THIS FOR HIS TEAM AS Reyes was down at the same time Also check in the stats I believe Wright has 9 more game winning hits than Beltran another great player I think the last time we had this much wood was around 84 to 86 and we snuck a ring out of that crew Our ERA does not show championship quality NEITHER DOES THE CARDS and if they depend on IZZY they wont get out of SanDiego alive! Both teams pitching is horrible and good pitching will not stop good hitting it will contain it By that I mean Less extra base hits and a lot more double play grounders to field. Their hitting is keeping them both afloat and if either Team had to face the Red Sox,Detroit or the Yankees this week They would probally get swept and I hate the Yankees PS the Yankees have the only ball player better than Puljos thats Jeter hes the best money player in the Game Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 Did anyone see where I Put my broom Looks like a sweep to me!!!!!!!!!! Quote
