Super User K_Mac Posted August 14, 2006 Super User Posted August 14, 2006 I haven't been keeping up with this thread, and notice two things after reading it in one sitting: (1) The Cards really may be in trouble. (2) Muddy_man is a poet, esp when it comes to writing about Brooklyn, food, and baseball.;D Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 K_Mac Muddyman and I havent even started slinging the Ā mud. Ā We are waiting for the Mets VS Cards for the World series. Ā Thats when the Ā will really start. Ā Quote

KentuckyBass Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 The series starting tomorrow between the Reds and Cards will be huge games in the fight for the division. I'm hoping the Reds can win a few and make a move towards the top spot. Last weeks series was split 2-2. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 who ever makes a move now is the hungriest team This will show if the Cards are gonna repeat then the Mets It aint comin easy for them If Junior can get hot now and Albert at the same time its gonna be fun to watch Ā Its been a long time comin for my Mets but they may have the NL MVP this year in Wright Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Just another DAY AT SHEA: Pedro's hurtin and has a disasterous first inning END RESULT a 13 to NUTTIN THUMPIN BY THE PHILIES Quote

I'm hoping the Reds can win a few and make a move towards the top spot. Last weeks series was split 2-2. Yep. Here it is. In my eyes, this is it. To me this will determine whether or not the Cards will make the playoffs. If they get swept, not so good. I don't particularly like the idea of the Cards playing catch up in mid August through Sept. with all the pitching woes they have been experiencing and the sudden silence of the offense. Hopefully it is a well played and entertaining series. May the best team win! Good luck and come out swingin'!! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 It's too early for this to decide these teams fate. I know the cards will win the division despite what happens in this series. I expect the cards to win 2 out of 3. But even if they do get swept the cards have the leadership and experience to go to the playoffs. This Reds team has no experience with this. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Bottom of the first phillies 4 mets1 hey Gman did you send a gris-gris bag full of evil to Shea Is all that worth it for one stinkin rapala Geez Ā bottom of the 4 phillies 9 mets 2 Ā I told you guys about these games Im going to Wal Mart to feed the monkey I cant watch this any longer See you guys later > Quote

I expect the cards to win 2 out of 3. But even if they do get swept the cards have the leadership and experience to go to the playoffs. This Reds team has no experience with this. That's not the point...the Cardinals have not had to battle for the NL Central crown since 2003. This is the first time since then that they will have to get off their butts, battle their gross inconsistency, and start winning games to hold off the opposition. At the moment the Reds are playing better ball than them in both offense and pitching. If the Cardinals are swept that will put them 1.5 games back and having to battle for the pennant. Another thing to consider, as much as I hate to possibly eat a little crow here, the 'Stros are playing the weak Cubs. If they 'Stros sweep the Cubs and the Cards get swept by the Reds, then we could have a very tight three team race in the Central that at the moment the Cards do not appear ready for. The Reds have been a steady threat and the 'Stros have started to surge a little. The Cards have already endured not one, but TWO eight game losing streaks. The team leadership has not been able to find an answer to that kind of inconsistency, nor have the players. The Cards DO have the talent and leadership to win the division, but right now, none of it seems to be hitting on all eight cylinders...heck not even six cylinders. So yes...this series will test the Cards metal and see how well they can deal with pressure, which past playoff series have shown, they don't deal with it very well. Should be interesting to watch. Siebert Outdoors Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 heehee Muddy, Ā I sent you the guy that was at the cubs game a couple years ago. Ā We are winning 5 to 0. Ā Lets hope weaver doesnt come in. ;D how can we play like this against cinn. but the pirates whoop us. Ā Worst team in the division. :-? Quote
bassmasta7 Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 2nd worst in the bigs. Val that is a lot of ifs. The Cubs fan is Steve Bartman. ;D Oh the cubs ;D Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted August 16, 2006 Super User Posted August 16, 2006 Cards win ;D ;D ;D GMAN, Weaver may start Thursday : Quote
Valascus Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 Now THAT is what the Cards needed. Reyes is capale of picking up win #2 in the series. Depending on who is piyching thursday maybe we could go for the sweep. If Weaver is pitching, screw it. Just give them say six runs and call it the 4th inning so we can bring in our bullpen. Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Iwas back home for a visit to Brooklyn all day just got back Listened to the game on the radio Swept by the (&^(^&( Phillies Ā What a mess :-/ Quote
Valascus Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 HOLY CRAP!!! Where did that pitching performance from Jeff Weaver come from?!?!?! 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings is phenomenal!! Thank goodness. We needed to win that series. That was a well played game. And how 'bout Scott Rolen stepping up to the plate to win that game! AWESOME! Now they just need to keep riding this wave against the Chicago Cubs and Muddy's Mets. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 17, 2006 Posted August 17, 2006 Did they tell weaver he was going back to T ball if he didnt start pitching? Just glad we won. Ā Thats the games we need is against Cinn. The mets will be no problem. ;D Quote

bassmasta7 Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Weaver actually has had 3 solid starts in a row. Yesterday was the Jeff Weaver of the past that the Cards were hoping to get. The Cards picked up Preston Wilson today and he is actually playing in the game vs the cubs. Good pickup by Walt since they dont know when Edmonds is coming back. Lets hope Mulder works out his problems before the end of the season. 6-3 Cards right now. How bout Chris Duncan 3 hits in each game against the Reds and already a homer today. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I like duncan. Ā I hope he can keep it up Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted August 18, 2006 Super User Posted August 18, 2006 6 HR, 11 R-We finally win in Chicago! Hope springs eternal... Go Cards Quote
