W1-10 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I've been listening to a lot of the chatter about boston today and I've noticed one common denominator. There are some RedSox fans who a true fans, people who know the crushing feeling of the name "bucky dent." Then, there are some people who thought the idea of the '04 season was neat and now they have a boston hat. Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken. Congratulations to all of you redsox fans who endured Wade Boggs riding around on a new york city police horse, you guys deserve to have these days. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted October 29, 2007 Super User Posted October 29, 2007 Thanks W1-10. I'm only 16, so I havn't experienced the Bu**ner inncedent, etc. But I did watch Aaron Boone's 11th inning HR in the 2003 ALCS. My Uncle (used to live in Connecticut) is a life long sox fan, and has experienced those dark times you speak of. I've also noticed the number of Boston "fans" circulating around. Most of them don't even know what the year "1918" means or who "Yaz" was. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I do, I do!!! Carl Yastrzemski was also a great fisherman!! Quote

JCrzy4Bass Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 But I did watch Aaron Boone's 11th inning HR in the 2003 ALCS. That hurt. To this day I get nervous seeing Wakefield on the mound in the playoffs. Especially after he gives up those first couple of hits. Man I remember the days of Boggs... Mike Greenwell, Mo Vaughn, The rocket (who I dislike to this day... long story, let's just say he was a jerk to me one day as a kid and told me to F off after I asked him to sign a b-ball). Nothing beats the feeling of sitting in Fenway Park though and watching a game from deep down the third base line by the green monster. So we sweeped our last two world series opponents and made it look easy. Can we officially start to say if this team wins one more classic in the next 2 or 3 years that we are a dynasty? Kind of how the Pats did it... except they one a couple consecutively. But this team is young, can hit, and play the field. Pedroia, Ellsbury, Crisp, Drew, etc. If Manny and Papi stick around for a while with Varitek's veteran leadership and a solid pitching staff with young guys like Papelbon, Okajima and Del Carmen back there in relief... hey man. I don't wanna jump the gun and get ahead of myself. But this team is not one to be taken lightly over the next couple of years. Quote
W1-10 Posted October 31, 2007 Author Posted October 31, 2007 I don't know about a dynasty....You could build a case, but I don't think a team that is a dynasty needs a case built. I know you'll all hate this but, there was no denying the yankees dominance a few years ago, that was a dynasty. The BoSox will be on the way for sure but I don't think they'll hit that mark with one more. Quote
