dave Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 Best defense the Patriots have faced thus far. According to last nights evening news sports report, Washington is the only team in the NFL that Tom Brady has never beat. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 26, 2007 Super User Posted October 26, 2007 Last time I checked, Washington was ranked 3rd in defense, and I'll agree, it will be the best defense he has faced thus far this year.  Shouldn't be  a problem for Brady and crew.   I'm curious to see how well the Skins move the ball. The Pats should win this one.  Matt Quote
rondef Posted October 26, 2007 Posted October 26, 2007 The Redskins will get crushed Sunday, they are not going to be able to stop the Patriots passing game with their secorday in the shape that they are in. Â I predict the score to be 38-14 Patriots win. Â GO PATS!!!!! Quote

W1-10 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 Man, I bet it's hard to have a class-act like tom brady on your team, and then try to support a guy like randy moss, without supporting a guy like randy moss. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I heard Tom Brady walked on water the other day. Quote
Infidel. Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I would have to say that the Pats showed no class. Â SD could have done the same thing to Houston on Sunday but they kept it cool and didn't continue smashing them in the second half and let Houston keep some dignity. Quote

SD could have done the same thing to Houston on Sunday but they kept it cool and didn't continue smashing them in the second half and let Houston keep some dignity. Im gonna have to disagree with you there. This is pro sports not high school or pop warner football. There is no Mercy Rule. If you dont like what the opposing team is doing stop them, simple enough. I mean if you go that root should the Red Sox have swept the Rockies because it would have made them feel bad? I say we peer back into the history books of the NFL at other dominating offenses. St. Louis Rams they were not hung out to dry for running the score up, rather they were named "The Greatest Show on Turf". Take a look at Peyton Manning's record setting year. Exactly how many of his TDs were made when the score was still close? He only became every advertisers dream pitch boy. Since the Washington Redskins couldnt stop the New England Patriots offense, the starters where on the bench on that last TD. Lets go ahead and make some "New" rules for the Patriots too play by so nobodies feelings get hurt. These new rules should be adopted immediately by Mr Goodell. In the hopes that Patriot opponents who are payed to get mean and physical wont get their feelings hurt. 1) Belichick must coach from home from now on, using only smoke signals to communicate with the team. 2) Brady can only play every other possession, Vrabel will act as QB when Brady is not in (this way he can no longer score TDs EVERY time he plays offense). 3) Moss can be interfered with endlessly and without penalty. 4) On possessions that Brady is in, the Patriots can only have 9 men on the field (and Vrabel cannot play on those possessions). 5) The Patriots are no longer qualified to intercept passes or pick up fumbled balls. 6) When the Patriots go up by 24 points, they can no longer play offense, the other team plays offense, scoring as many points as needed until it is tied again, at which point the Patriots can resume offensive possessions. 7) After each win, as a gesture of respect, the Patriots will offer to do the other teams laundry. 8) All cameras must be turned off on the Patriots sideline and the coaches must also be blindfolded for the duration of the game. I feel that these rule changes would drastically stop the Patriots opponents from getting their feelings hurt. If any of you feel I have left out some important rules please feel free to add them... Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I could be wrong, I don't follow many sports closely but these guys salaries also depend on what numbers they put up.  There will be game where they play great but it's a 3-0 game.  Does that score accurately reflect the effort when it comes salary time and they review the numbers?  Probably not.  When they capitalize on a game like this one ( and my deepest sympathies redskin fans )it merely balances the numbers and greats a more realistic avg. Again, I could be waaay off base, there are probably lots of factors involved but I would have to agree that the "mercy" stuff does have it's place but that place is pop warner, not pro ball. Quote
slomoe Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 ( and my deepest sympathies redskin fans ) It means alot to us. Â :'( but for real, I don't hate on the pats because they crushed us, If it were the other way around I would have loved every second of it. Â ;D Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Exactly. We are in the pros here. It's not little tyke football or high school where you simply just kneel the ball or show mercy to your opponent not to crush the other teams ego. These guys are paid to play. There was over 7 minutes left. Had there been 2-3 minutes, fine, kneel the ball. Let it go. It's up to your defense to learn how to stop these guys. I think the Skins D just basically was so drained and ticked off they just gave up. They have no one to blame other than themselves. And I'm not even a Pat's fan. I love the skins fans though. They know they have a great secondary but they think they can compete with the top AFC teams... NFC and AFC are worlds apart folks. NFC can't hang with these guys. They haven't been able to in years. My friend Jimmy bet me a bottle of Jack Daniels that the Pats would not score 30 points in this game. I took that bet QUICK!!! I called him up in the third quarter to ask if the Pats score 60 do I get two bottles? Haha. He said no and I let him get back to his grieving. Bottom line, this team is going undefeated. Even their second string players can beat first string teams as long as Welker, Morris, and that offensive line are out there. Crazy... this might be the best team in football in decades. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I dont believe in the no mercy. After a whoopin like that the Redskins need to reevaluate where they are and where the league is at. With that said, Â I wouldnt have played my main team though. Â I personally would have sat them out to give the rookies a chance to learn and not risk an injury to the good players-- To me this is more embarrasing then being beat bad. GO COLTS 8-) Quote
Infidel. Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Hey hey hey, calm down there boy. I didn't say they should have shown mercy, they should have shown some class. It's like being in a street fight. You don't show mercy, but once you've knocked your opponent down to the point where he's not getting up you can either A) Show some class and help if back up and say nice fight or start kicking the crap out of him while he is on the ground. The patriots chose B. That's all I am saying. If you think we should just let teams in pro sports just run up the score then why do they stop the game in baseball if the winning team is up at bat in the bottom of the ninth. Why not just let them have at it? They still have three outs to use up right? Why not let them prove what hot shots they are? Quote

Why not just let them have at it? They still have three outs to use up right? Why not let them prove what hot shots they are? That's actually easy. Â It's because the opposing team has NO MATHEMATICAL chance of possibly winning the game because it doesn't go to the tenth. Football, any given team could kick a few onside kicks and throw a hail mary pass up in the endzone a few times to catch up. Â So it's POSSIBLE for them to catch up. Â Baseball it's not. Â Though the Skins would have had to do that like 8 times lol, but hey... Quote

;D  ;D  ;D  Seriously I said it before if the Redskins players didnt like what was going on play better, prepare yourself better. Either the players or coaches or both did a horrid job. I mean who doesnt have a LB on Vrabel when he checks in as an eligible receiver? Yet there he was in the corner of the endzone with nobody on him, wide open. Thats some terrible coaching/playing in my book. So your opinion is that they show no class. My opinion is that they are doing what they are paid to do, win. At the end of the season nobody is going to remember or care how bad these teams lost, its just a L or a W. Quote

Super User FishTank Posted October 30, 2007 Super User Posted October 30, 2007 I feel sorry for the Redskins. Â WOW what a hammering they took. Â I do believe that the Pats ran up the score. Â Why? Â I have no idea. Â Things like that sometimes comeback to haunt you. Â The Pats had better chance of getting a quality player hurt more than the Redskins had a chance of making a game out of it. Â Can't wait till Sunday. Â It's like a Super Bowl atmosphere here in Indy. Go Colts........ Quote
W1-10 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Keep in mind when reading that you don't and never will play for "your" team. Additionally, you are never a part in a win for "your" team, ever. You have no impact whatsoever on the performance of your team. So, this means that you are no cooler if your team is successful, it does however create an opportunity for you to make an arrogant a*s of yourself. This isn't an attack on any one person, but rather the ranting collective who gloat without social grace. The pats are good, this is their time. Eventually, because of the cap, they will be a ***** team, this is the business of sports. As will any other team that enjoys extended success in the NFL. Remember when the niner's were good? Randy Moss is everything that is wrong with professional sports. Sure he's talented, but were he not an athlete he'd probably steal your car. Keep in mind that his effort is only dictated by the teams performance and the number of times he's thrown at. That's lazy, plain and simple. Try that same thing at work and see how many people talk about how awesome you are. Only in America. Were I a pats fan, I could'nt root for him and then try to teach a child about right and wrong. Tom Brady is good, everyone already knows this. Belichik has done some questionable things, I'm not saying he's a cheat, but if it looks like a cat and sounds like a cat, it's probably a cat. Take that however you want. It's a game, and you don't play in it. Be a fan with some class instead of a windbag. Quote
