What is a good contrast ratio with regards to buying a new TV.

I see numbers ranging from 1000:1 all the way up to ridiculously large numbers. I have read what contrast ratio is, but I am still having a hard time determining what a generally "good" number would be.  

If more info is needed for an educated guess, please let me know.

Soooo......from what I see they dont mean a lot?

Once the house finalizes, you can have some input into the "Man Cave" television......I'll drag you and Zangrilli along....
