Super User roadwarrior Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 Wassup guys? The greatest race of the year. Action, wrecks and strategy. Man, I haven't been a big Gordan fan, but Jeff Gordan is by far the GREATEST driver of this generation. What a race. Staying in back the whole time and NEVER a lap leader... Well, just one! 8-) Quote
tipptruck1 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Jeff Gorden that name dosn't ring a bell. He will win the chase this year for sure. I belive he will also beat Pettys and Earnharts 7 championships. Look at what he has done in the short time compared to Earnhart. It took him over 20 years to get to 76 wins. It didn't take Gorden that long to win that munch. As munch as I hate him hes a good driver. Did you hear that the bush and nextel cup are going to have new names next year. The bush will be called the nation wide series and nextel will be called the sprit cup. Quote
Olebiker Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I 'spect things have been pretty busy in the engine shop at DEI this week. I was fishing most of Sunday and didn't get to see the race. I figured it might be politically incorrect to come in from fishing, get a shower and park it in the LaZBoy with a beer the rest of the day. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 Jeff Gordon is the enemy, a short little mama's boy that wears Rainbow colors. I couldn't have agreed more on the race Sunday. One of the best timed moves I have ever seen, even if it was by the Rainbow warrior himself. I stood next to Jeff at Texas Motor Speedway a few years ago. I never realized he was that short. He really is!!! Don't like Jeff, but that was one sweet move. Kent, I can't argue with the facts and the wins he's posted, he is the bar. One can only judge competition as to were the bar has been set, and Jeff has the bar pretty high. Another note!!! Any body want to buy a suede Dale Jr. jacket worth $425.oo Good ole #8 Budweiser leather jacket. Like I can wear it anymore to support my driver. Thats the last big dollar sponser product I ever buy. Its in mint condition, never out of the plastic except when worn. Matt Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 10, 2007 Author Super User Posted October 10, 2007 Hey, I'm a Kevin Harvick fan! Just giving credit where credit is due. What drives me crazy is the lack of skill among the field of drivers. Less than half are in the hunt during the regular season. The Chase drivers are the cream of the crop, but most of those guys didn't win a race this year! Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Jonson were really dominant, throw in a win by Harvick and a couple for Stewart, Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards and that's most of the story. There are at least twenty drivers that don't belong on the track. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I think they should mix it up a bit. Don't tell the teams which way they will run the track (around to the right or around to the left) till a few days before the race (to allow for car set up). I just think it would be a hoot. All your life making a left hand turn..........can they make a right? Would be entertaining to see,lol Quote
Super User senile1 Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 Seriously, why do people choose to hate Jeff Gordon, or any other driver for that matter? I can understand disliking the hotheads on the track. (Though it does seem a lot of people like Stewart who can be one of the angriest of the bunch at times when things don't go his way.) Just curious. Quote

Just curious. I'm with you. Although I am not a big Jeff Gordon fan, I've never seen him do or say anything that would elicit so much hate. Robby Gordon now, that's another story. Every time that sucker opens his mouth I am amazed that he has any sponsorship at all. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted October 10, 2007 BassResource.com Administrator Posted October 10, 2007 I like Gordo, even though I'm an Elliot Sadler fan (been a tough 2 years for Sadler fans. He needs a new team). In fact, I like most of the drivers, except for a few that mouth off too much. Getting a little tired of seeing the same guys up front though. That said, that was a terrific move by Gordon and an exciting finish. He raced clean, and masterfully pulled off a well-timed move like the seasoned veteran he is. Nobody can fault him for that! bassmasta7 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 I personally the thought race was terrible. Of course only until the last 5 laps, they were great. I dont know how many of you watched the whole race, but it was pretty boring. For about an hour they just drove around single file in the high groove. I really dont like the COT and think they need to fix the restrictor plate package for it. Coming into the race they were hyping it as the best race of the decade. The last five laps were good but the other 3 hours werent fun to watch. Like 4 or 5 years ago they had an amazing restrictor plate package that led to lead changes like every lap. Those DEI engines are pathetic. Jr's had 6 blown engines this year and Truex blew his Sunday too. Im glad Jr is getting out of their and into one of those hendrick cars. Im ready for Atlanta!!! Not to steal the thread or anything, but my friend was thinkin about takin his RV to the race and parking in the infield. Does anyone know how much that will cost for the weekend? Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted October 11, 2007 Super User Posted October 11, 2007 bassmasta7, I think the COT (car of tommorrow), combined with the restrictor plate made alot of guys play it safe. For the most part, the drivers were ALL contempt to be patient. As to the why fans don't like Gordon, I have given a truthfull response in the past. Its because his colors are the very same as gay and lesbians. Rainbow warrior. Don't make it right, but its the truth. Matt. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted October 15, 2007 Author Super User Posted October 15, 2007 Well, the "Rainbow Warrior" made it two in a row! I guess he just "got lucky." Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted October 22, 2007 Super User Posted October 22, 2007 Jimmy won this weekend at Martinville. Matt Quote
Olebiker Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I know that Martinsville continues the tradition of short track racing that NASCAR was built on, but I really don't enjoy it. Give me Atlanta any day. Quote
