Or is she being straight with me?

My wife is 4 months pregnant and told me about a month and a half ago that she was unable to do house work because she could hurt herself and it would not be good for the baby.

Well, here I am on my day off vacuuming, dusting and mopping. (mopping 1900 sq ft of tile sux) And where is she? She went to get her nails done and go shopping.

Uh Oh! She's home and I ain't done mopping.. Be right back guys.

Okay I'm back. Geeeez, now get this. She comes into the house and tells me to unload the groceries because they are too heavy to carry. Aftrwards, she flops on the couch with the REMOTE for the t.v and tells me the dog is begging to go out to peeee.

Now I love my wife to death along with the turkey in the oven but I also love FISHING. Today makes 3 times in a row I had to do this domesticated work.

Have I told so many Bull Shyt fish stories that she somehow has learned from me how to B.S ?

Lord, what have I done?

You have been had. She is so full of crap it ain't funny. Unless her doctor has put her on bed rest then she needs to get up and do something. My wife was raking the lawn one day before she gave birth to our first kid. My wife is currently expecting our third son and we go to the gym every other day for a good workout. This will be beneficial to both her and our child.

What will happen if your wife continues to be inactive is she will gain more weight than she needs to. She could very well get what is called Gestational Diabetes. Oh and the big one is that your child may weigh a pound or two more than it should be at birth. That means that she will have to push a bigger baby out when it comes time. OUCH

I'm not saying don't help her out with the housework. Just get her up and active.

Make sure you have the Ultrasound tech tell you what the sex is. Not the Doctor. I work in diagnostic imaging and I have seen to many doctors miss read the sex of the baby. The techs are hardly ever wrong.

All depends on the woman.  My sister-in-law was the same way with both of her children.

Hell, not like she does much housework now... :-/

Like my wife told her one day, your arms aren't pregnant.

Oh man She is gooooooooooooo-od  ;D ;D ;D

If I were you, I would be careful in how I handle this.

Next she'll be telling you that the doctor she can't make love till six months AFTER the baby is born.

Then what ya gonna do?

My wife worked full time at a nursing home almost a month past her due date with my first born. (had to be induced). Unless the doc says there are problems, don't buy the I can't do it story.

I have a question for you. #1) Did you go to the doctor with her for the visit where she was told she "couldn't do any housework"? If not, next appointment you go to, try to get the opportunity to talk to the doctor alone and voice your concern regardong your wifes lack of activity during her pregnancy, which as Fluke suggested, will cause un-necessary weight gain, which will lead to gestational diabetes. If says nothing about your wife being unable to do housework, and shares your concerns on gestational diabetes, then you can suggest to your wife that she help with some housework for her and the babies health. How could she get mad at you for being concerned for her health, after all?  ;) Then you'll have more feeshin' time!  ;D

Also, some women do get to the point in a pregnancy where they have to exercise EXTREME CAUTION. Some women could have a condition known as preclampsyia (I think I spelled it right). Learned all about that kind of stuff when My wife and I took a Lamaze class while she was pregnant with our little girl. Oh, and BTW, she worked all the way up until the day before she was induced. http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/preeclampsia-eclampsia

Scary stuff. I am sure you wife doen't have it or she wouldn't be out shopping and all that. Doctors orders for that are essentially bedrest, bedrest, and more bedrest.

My Gf is prego her GYno told her she can do all her normal stuff ..there is no in between either they are beddestined or working.the only thing that can be a prob if she is stressed this can be many forms mental and physical. And dont let sex get to be a burden the more she exercises her KEgel muscles the easier for her to have the baby .Mine gets all hurting and stuff from walkin thing is its her feet hurting from the weight gain not her belly NO PAIN NO GAIN .A active mom almost always means a healthy active baby. What she does while prego is pretty much what the baby will copy BUT i been through 3 pregnancies and all the woman LOVED to sleep so why dont the babies?? no DOC has gave me a good answer yet

Shopping?  Flopped on the couch?  Telling you what to do?  Sounds like a role reversal to me.   ;D ;D

My wife has made me go to all our dr. appointments.   Thank goodness we only have about 3 left.  Kind of glad now though b/c she can't b.s. me like your wife did.  However,  once her belly gets big enough to effect her balance she really shouldn't be mopping the tile floor.  I thought I had it rough at 1700 sq ft of tile, but it can always be worse.

I have tried 3 different times to respond to this... I keep thinking it's a joke.  If it's not a joke, at least pitch in a little while she's pregnant.  You probably made a vow to honor her at one point in the past...

Marriage is supposed to be where 2 become 1, not where you pick up a housekeeper and a nanny.

I do the outside work (yard) and she does the inside.  I don't mind helping out now that she's pregnant but I'll be darned if she gonna take control of the remote during college football day while I dust and mop...OH HELL NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is indeed very true, flechero. It is a great thing for him to help her out with the inside chores more as she progresses through her pregnancy, which will cosume a lot of her energy throughout the day. That much he should do and take pride in the fact that he is helping her feel better by allowing her to get more rest. However, marriage is not about one person blatantly taking advantage of another and lying to do so, which from what I can gather, is exactly what she is doing. She definately can use more help with all the chores more often than usual, but I think her going shopping and and sitting on the couch all day is a little unfair and extreme in itself.

OK,

You deleted my post, because it was "way off base"  I accept that.

So I will rephrase.

Arrogant, know it all statements such as.

Marriage is supposed to be where 2 become 1, not where you pick up a housekeeper and a nanny.

Are insulting.  How dare anyone on this forum tell another member what marriage is supposed to be.

I'm tired of the condescending arrogance that is inherent in these "I know what's best for YOU" posts.

Are they not "way off base"?

Lest I remind everyone - this is a fishing forum.  Geez, can't we have a decent conversation without somebody getting all riled up?

Winter hasn't even set in yet, and some of you are already losing it.  Take a chill pill folks.

Not trying to mitigate one's feelings, but the over-the-top reactions are just that, beyond what is necessary.

Avid - I think you have a point in there somewhere, but I couldn't understand it through the clenched teeth.  Besides, weren't you and Fletch going to stay in your own corners of the house anyway? Do I have to ground you?  ;)

Well, we went to the doctor today.  !st of all, thanks for all the comments.  Some were constructive while others were just ............  My wife is only 17 weeks pregnant and is far from ever being lazy. As soon as she confirmed she was pregnant though, I noticed a change in her activity.  Her activity level went way down.  I didn't know if it was her trying to baby herself or what.   The doctor said today that her placinta (sp) is in a lower position than it should be and can be painful.  In most cases it fixes itself towards the end of the pregnancy but if not, then it could be dangerous.  Anyway, the doctor said the most strenuous exercise she can do right now is a mild walk.  That's all I needed to hear.  I will now be taking over her chores until further notice.  I better not even catch her folding a towel. Oh yea,  the doctor also said we were having another professional fisherMAN in the family.
