Super User roadwarrior Posted October 3, 2007 Super User Posted October 3, 2007 He lives in my suburb now, the Memphis area. I see him (and Joe Theismann) around occasionally. Segal has gained a COUPLE of hundred pounds! He couldn't fit into any of those long coats he used to wear in his movies. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted October 3, 2007 Super User Posted October 3, 2007 Couple hundred pounds? So now I can challenge him to a fight! Quote
Guest avid Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Seagal is quite the interesting character. He was interested in Martial arts and Zen so he moved to Japan. where he learned to speak fluent Japanese. Not only is he is a bone fide martial arts expert in Aikido, a Japanese style and became the first westerner to open a succssful dojo in Japan. He was involved, though he won't say to what extent in the fight for freedom of Tibet against communist china, and actually tended to tibetan monks who were wounded or tortured. He did this using his skills in Acupuncture He is an ordained bhuddist monk. None of these achievements are easily acquired. They each demand years of dedicated study and self discipline most us could never hope to achieve. I really admire the guy. PS> the chubby shot be funny, Here's an interesting article that some of the more ignorant among us may laugh at, but it shows a side of Mr. Seagal few have seen. http://www.shambhalasun.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2027&Itemid=0 Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted October 3, 2007 Super User Posted October 3, 2007 Wow Avid, I had no idea. I have a new found respect for him. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 3, 2007 Super User Posted October 3, 2007 I have followed this guy for years. He is one of those who followed a path of self discovery and enlightenment through martial arts and then become self obsorbed in money and popularity. He was at one time the real deal. The fall from his faith has become his undoing. I hope he gets out of the buffet line and gets back to Temple and the gym. Quote
PaparockArk Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Steven Segal has tried and done what most have only thought about. Each of us has a path and choices along that path for the good of others or the good of self. We are all responsible for the choices we make along this path of our life as we do affect others both for the positive and negative along the way. I respect Steven Segal for the courage he has shown in making choices that were his to make. Too many spend too much time criticizing others choices on their paths and not enough on making wise choices along their own journey which is witnessed by the carnage left in their wake. If all mankind followed the simple principle of putting others first would this world not be a better place? Alas evil and selfishness rule far too many in this life and there are those that while they try to practice putting others first stand in the breech between those that would rule the weak by force not out of anger, greed, or hate toward their foe by out of love for the weak and the selfish for the weak need protection and it is bad for the selfish to get their way. These do not want conflict but conflict resolution. If the selfish choose to strike with force they have already lost the battle for they have damaged themselves. I have never met Segal but I have studied martial arts, spiritual and religious beliefs as well as personally witnessed things beyond what my university science training and degree can explain. Each of us has to find our own answers in life and must answer for the choices we make along life's path. Considering the implications of we are born, we live life, we die, and then what (many disagree here) I believe we should choose wisely but in the end the choice is yours to make. Quote
Infidel. Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Anyone who puts his thumbs into the eyesockets of a drug dealer in his movies is OK with me. I haven't seen any of his new stuff, the last movie of his that I saw was Fire Down Below or something like that. I would have to say that I really enjoy his movies. Its all about good guys overcoming the bad guys which is something you don't see that much anymore. What I would consider evil or bad behavior is now everywhere on TV and movies. The worst part is that they glorify it. It really makes me sad :'( But to get back to the energy drink, you have to admit, its pretty darn funny. Quote
mattm Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Lots of stars that won't do ads here do them overseas. Brad Pitt does coffee or something like that. Quote
