zimmy Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 WELL I FINALLY AGREE MY BEARS NEED A QUATERBACK BECAUSE IT DONT LOOK LIKE GROSSMAN IS EVER GOING TO GET IT DONE > HEARD THROUSH THE GRAPEVINE MAYBE MCNABB WOULD BE INTERESTED , DONT CARE AS LONG AS WE GET A REAL QUARTERBACK . WHEN YOU KEEP THROWING MORE INTERCEPTIONS THAN TD PASSES SOMETHING IS WRONG. MAYBE LOVIE WILL LET GRIESE START. CANT BE WORSE THAN GROSSMAN. ZIMMY PS MATT DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON NOTRE DAME Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 24, 2007 Super User Posted September 24, 2007 Hmm... I already lost a few bucks. I bet Grossman wouldn't make the Bear's roster this year! He is the worst quaterback to ever play in a Super Bowl. I'm sure it will be his last. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I agree. The bears are too good of a team for him. He really needs to go. I believe McNaab would be a good asset to that team. Well with that said just about any other QB. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 24, 2007 Super User Posted September 24, 2007 Glad to see everyone finally agrees with me. Grossman has a good arm, but no brain. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Glad to see everyone finally agrees with me. Grossman has a good arm, but no brain. Never doubted your wisdom Burley. Agreed the whole time. Any QB that steps back to the same spot every time and never moves is in for a world of hurt. All the D has to do is run to his comfort spot and its hammer time. You would think he would watch some of the greats and see how the move in the pocket and roll outside to throw. I think he would make a good College QB but he just isnt ready for the big times. Quote
zimmy Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 THATS GROSSMANS PROBLEM HE NEVER ROLLS FROM THE POCKET , JUST STANDS THERE AN THROWS INTERCEPTIONS Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 24, 2007 Super User Posted September 24, 2007 I have never understood why they keep this guy but oh well....... Go Colts......... Quote
Jake. Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Whenever I here is name, I just laugh. Quote
Troutfisher Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 TAKE GROSSMAN OUT, PUT GRIESE IN! I'VE BEEN SAYING IT FOREVER! : Quote
tipptruck1 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 You bears fans will have to wait 20 some more years intill your next super bowl. But I did say that the beging of last year they would make the super bowl. The bears seem like they do this all the time. They have one good season then go down the drain. Maybe you chicago fans can get lucky and maybe the cubs will make the series this year. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 25, 2007 Super User Posted September 25, 2007 Say what you want to about Grossman, but look at the big picture. Hurt his first season, played some his second year , and had his first full season under center last year and what did he help accomplish. A trip to the Super Bowl. I hope when Romo has some bad games due to lack of experience, he don't get thrown under the bus. It will happen, look at Rivers this year, Roethlessberger last year, basicallly rookies who had killer first years. McNabb never got any real targets to throw to for years. Enter one valid target and they made it over the hump. Ya'll need to remember Grossman is barely into his career. Peyton blew big chunks and INT's his first two seasons, but he had some real targets to throw to. You guys get rid of one half the offense with letting Jones go, don't pick up any talented recievers, just what moves did Chicago make to help any of their QB"s out. I 've liked Greise also, but the facts are, he has had many a opportunities to lead a team, and hasn't gotten the job done. If he didn't develope into a proven QB under Shannahan in Denver, I don't see him making any better decsions. Kyle has only had 8-10 starts, and game experience is lacking for him also. When you have in-experience playing QB, you need a serious running game for ball control. What did Chicago do to better the running game? What wideouts did they actively persue? If Chicago didn't want a rookie playing QB and basically its his second season, they should have went after Garcia, Culpepper, Schaub. The Bears didn't game plan for the lack of experience, most of this appears to be management issue in my book. Matt Quote
BassHunter69 Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 dang grossman anyone would be an improvement to this guy. its really a shame the guy cant really play ball makes me wonder how he got to the nfl Quote
Jake. Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Saw this on NFL.com: News: NFL Network reports that the Bears will start Brian Griese, not Rex Grossman at quarterback in Week 4 at Detroit. Grossman has been the Bears' starter for the last two seasons but has come out of the gate poorly, throwing one touchdown and six interceptions. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 27, 2007 Super User Posted September 27, 2007 What did the Bears do to improve the offensive weapons? Nothing!!!! What about that O-line. The theme was to have Rex make 2-3 step drop and deliver the ball quickly. How come they still call the deeper, longer developing plays down field? Rex is getting killed in the pocket and yet the line don't get no blame. Matt Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Grossman had about as much to do with the Bears making the Subpar Bowl as I did with Boyd Duckett winning the Classic this year. With the way that team is set up, they only need a QB who doesn't make stupid mistakes. Let the defense win games for them. Now that their defense is hobbled, they need a QB who can make things happen. That ain't Grossman. He's got a good arm, but makes poor decisions. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Rex is 19-7 as a starter. 19 of those games came in his first full season last year. 13-3 as a starter last year. The Bears scored the second most points last year and yet they let Jones go. They don't have a running game to support Rex like they did last year. What weapons did they add to the team. None, Nil, Nada. Rex is playing poorly, but if you put Peyton into the same spot, you aren't gonna be happy with his play either. Peyton don't have to take the hits Grossman does. Rex's stats from college, runner-up in Heisman Voting, 22nd pick overall, has won 19 out of 26 starts. His first full season wihtout injury, leads his team to a 13-3 season record. What did they do to improve the team offensively for this season? Matt Quote
Super User flechero Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Let the defense win games for them. Did you see the game Sunday night????? The great bears defense has been spotty at best. (and I hate to say that since I grew up in suburban Chicago. :'( ) Matt Fly- You are spot on!! I think Rex needs a season or two (as a back up) to learn from a decent QB... Even Aikman and Romo sucked in the beginning of their careers... but they turned out pretty good. Griese isn't the answer. He might be a 1-3 game band-aid but that's all. There is a reason he's a back up. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Glad to see everyone finally agrees with me. Grossman has a good arm, but no brain. Listening to the NFL channel on Sirius today and a guy called in about Rex, essentially wanting to know why they stuck with him so long. The DJ said that essentially the difference between Rex and Ryan Leaf is the attitude. Leaf's sucked and Rex keeps smiling and trying to get better. They said you can't help but to keep giving the guy chances. Looks like he has used up his chances. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 The way Farve has played the past few seasons, he looked no better than Rex. Green Bay and Chicago are very similar if you have noticed. Chicagos proven Defense, and Green Bay begining to play strong Defense. Both with weak offenses in the past. Brett has earned his grace to play poor I guess. They sure looked bad with no offense the past few years. What did Brett want this year? A reciever named Randy Moss. Over the past few seasons, he's lost some of his key weapons, except Driver and TE Bubba Franks who hasn't exactly torn up the league. Green Bay has gotten lucky, they have some young receivers that are coming along faster. Bret did say last year, that with some experience, the Pack will be good young team. The Packers have managed to do what Chicago failed to do. Build some weapons around Farve. Rex did exactly what Farve has done, Forced the ball to make plays. They don't have the team to make long drives, and yet they don't have the O-line or running game for ball control, and not enough speed for game busting plays. Personally, Horton is the guy to go to. He did brake most of Brees records at Purdue, used to the weather up there, but then again, he's in the same shoes as Rex. Young and experieced with the same O-line that Rex had. Matt Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Let the defense win games for them. Did you see the game Sunday night????? The great bears defense has been spotty at best. (and I hate to say that since I grew up in suburban Chicago. :'( ) Yes, and as I said, that is the formula by which Smith runs the team. His offense doesn't have to do much as long as the defense is playing well. They aren't thanks to a load of injuries. Quote
BadKarma42 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 As long as Griese's dog doesn't trip him and make him fall down the stairs again he should be fine. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Chicago is or could be considered the 4th best team in that divison at this time, and its not Grossmans fault totally. Minnesota and Chicago should be very good game. Matt Quote
Super User flechero Posted October 1, 2007 Super User Posted October 1, 2007 So where are all the Griese fans today? Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 So where are all the Griese fans today? Right next to the Rex fans. ;D Did you guys see the Lambs play. They got spanked big time. But thats another topic. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted October 1, 2007 Super User Posted October 1, 2007 I don't care if Peyton stepped in, no weapons on offense that scare anyone in the league. What has Cedric ran for the past few seasons? Over 1000 yds? Any 100 yd days? I don't think he's close if you added both years up. What team records or league records has Musin Mahamad been trying to break? The only records in jeopardy is punt/kick returns from Hester, and last time i checked, Dallas didn't let them score that way, so Chicago better come up witn some alternative plans to score.
