I grabbed one of these the other day, and I have yet to catch a bass on it. I got the Shiner patttern, which looks great.

It's catching Pickeral no problem though.

I fish an ulta clear lake and I'm starting to think the feathered tail is throwing off the bass. Has anyone ever removed the tail? I thought it was the rattle, but the Husky Jerk catches bass at this lake.

Also, if you have any comments overall about this bait, I'm happy to hear them.

First of all, it's a jerkbait not a crankbait. I bought one when they first came out and have caught a couple of bass, but the biggest fish was a catfish! I don't like the lure, mostly because it is too light and doesn't cast well on the equipment I like to use to fish jerkbaits.

Although I haven't used the Live Pointer in years, I picked up two more on sale :)

I haven't used them and probably won't...

yeah, sorry about using the incorrect terminology.  I know it's a jerkbait, but I had not had my coffee yet.

I've done well with other jerkbaits at this lake, but the smallies do not seem to like it.

I got one when they first came out. It looked like it was a "can't miss" lure...........guess what......it missed.

I've caught a fair amount of largemouth, but no smallies. It just hasn't produced like I thought it would.

I actually perfer a feathered tail so I dont believe that is the problem. I never used the Live Pointer, but the Lukcy Craft 100 SP Pointer is pure gold.

Try cutting down your line size.  Good luck.

Nope.

The Pointer might be my favorite lure. The "Live Pointer" is a totally different animal.

I have the regular pointer coming from Cabelas soon in Brownie.  I hope it does better.

I concur with the others the live pointer just plain sucks I have put it through many tours of duty- I gave it to a friend and he has since given it away.  Every now and then you try something new and it dosent seem to work out-

I pretty much agree with everyone else. The live pointer is a piece of crap. The standard Pointer on the other hand is probably the best jerkbait on the market IMO. My favorite colors are ghost minnow, misty shad, and american shad.

I've got a smithwicks and a husky jerk in the same type of pattern, but the smallies are not hitting those today either. Maybe it is the rattle in the ultra clear water.

It's weird, but the only things they are eating here right now are f-11 Rapala in silver and senkos in green pumpkin, but at least they are shallow and in cover again. I like a target.

Oh, but the way, my friend has the live pointer and says his is either really on, or really off. He does have luck with it though.

I am the biggest LC fan put the Live Pointer is the worst jerkbait I can remember buying! On the upside it works great as a wake bait! A slow steady retrieve works great for SM. If you try working it like a regular jerkbait it just has retarded spasms and will not even attempt to set level.
