stilldontlikeyou Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Just checking to see if any other members are currently changing their bad habits or have been able to get healthy. I started my lifestyle change about 4 months ago and have lost over 40 lbs. I was 240, and I'm now down to 198. But haven't lost any weight in about 3 weeks now, so I'm stuck :-/ Just seeing if anyone else has any good advice on what to do now??? I'm also open to questions if anyone needs help as well. Heres an older picture of my results.... Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted September 13, 2007 Super User Posted September 13, 2007 Change your workout. Your body has gotten used to the same ol, same ol. If you change the excersized up and use your muscles differently it will shock them into burning the fat again. Oh and congrats. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 13, 2007 Super User Posted September 13, 2007 I went from 250 to 190 in the span of 6 months in 05. Of course, there were underlying medical conditions. Only put 10 of it back on though. Quote

BadKarma42 Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Review your diet. Sometimes when weight loss is going well we have a tendency to let the "bad (ie good tasting) food" creep back in. You could even keep a log of your diet for a week or two. I agree with the change in your exercise routine suggestion. Often times the body will hit a plateau. Cardio first thing in the moring, before you eat anything. A cup of coffee would be good about 20 minutes prior. Caffine can help increase the fat loss. You could also increase cardio to twice a day (if you have the time). Drink more water. If you are lifting weights, do cardio before your weight workout. When lifting keep things at a high intensity. Also keep in mind, if you are lifting (depending on how much) you may be losing fat, but adding muscle, which will in turn burn more fat. Above all, don't get frustrated and give up! Good job Quote
stilldontlikeyou Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 Thanks for the advice. Just bought a jump rope to change up the cardio a little. Going to try a couple things with the diet as well!! Quote
jeremyt Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 First I want to say congrats, I bet you feel a whole lot better. I will say the biggest thing to dropping pounds is diet. You can exercise all you want but if you don't feed you body you won't show results. Instead of eating three meals a day eat six small portion meals. Give your body the nutriets it needs and your matabolism will shoot through the roof. If you have been doing this already change the exercise regime up. If you have been lifting 3-4 times a week and doing cardio 2-3 then switch that up. Go from heavy weights to light but a lot of reps. Also change up between jogging for distance and sprinting for exhaustion. Just a few ideas. Quote
stilldontlikeyou Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Yeah I usually run in the morning, and goto the gym after work and do weights then cardio. One day a week I do heavy weights, but most of the time, I do lighter weights with lots of reps to tone up the fat in the arms, stomach, and legs. I eat 6 times a day, but I'm going to change that up a bit as to what foods I'm eating. My main problem is too many carbs later in the day. Instead of eating my carbs in the morning and lunch time, I'm eating them for dinner and a after dinner snack. It's been fairly easy for me so far. I allow myself a treat every 2-3 weeks, it allows me to stay strict the rest of the time. And my treats really aren't that bad. I'll get a couple scoops of ice cream from somewhere, or allow myself a small piece of chocolate cake, stuff like that. Fast food is out of the questions, unless its chili from Wendys Quote
Super User Marty Posted September 14, 2007 Super User Posted September 14, 2007 Just checking to see if any other members are currently changing their bad habits or have been able to get healthy. I can't say "current" is the right word for me. I made lifestyle changes 19 years ago, making permanent changes in my eating habits and starting to do some aerobic exercise 5-6 times weekly. From my reading I learned that one pound of body weight was roughly equivalent to 3500 calories. I estimated my calories burned from some book and then computed how many calories I needed to eat in order to lose weight at the rate I wanted, which was about 1.5-2 pounds a week. For awhile I wrote down and kept track of everything I ate with respect to calorie count. After awhile I no longer needed to, since I knew what I needed to do. I lost 55 pounds and have kept it off, although there have been some minor ups and downs. I also learned that I could binge with no consequences from time to time as long as my eating habits were good on a day-in-day-out basis. Good luck. Quote
