BASS fisherman Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was sleeping in late and suddenly awoke with the urge to turn on the TV. As I did the news was covering the tragedy live. Just then the 2nd plane hit. I knew they would fall, and sure enough. I just remember thinking that I just watched thousands of people die, live. I was very sad. I went outside after the 2nd plane hit and watched a plane following an odd path with a W SW direction. I believe that plane was flight 93. Below is a link to some interesting stories about the Flight 93 memorial site and "ghosts". http://channels.isp.netscape.com/whatsnew/default.jsp?story=20070911-0842 Very sad day in history for sure. llPa1nll Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was finishing up getting ready for work. I was watching CNBC look to see how much my mutual fund was going to tank that day. The first plane hit and I was amazed "How could you hit a building on a clear and sunny day like that?", I thought. Then the second plane hit it was easy to see that this was no accident. So I sat in front of the TV watching the days events unfold like it was a surreal hollywood movie. My thoughts go out to those who were touched and those who were lost on such a tragic day in our Nation's history... Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 I was heading out to play golf. The phone rang and I was told to turn the t.v on. Next thing I know I was being called in to work.... Quote

Too this day every time i see the vidios i get mad as H!@# I was working in a juvenile Secure Treatment facility, 7-3 shift. I has just gotten done dealing with a kid and then someone said they heard somehting had happened on the radio. Like most of the early reports, it didn't make sense. As news continued to come in, we (the supervisors) grabbed one of the TVs and hooked up the cable. We watched what was happening on TV, like I imagine many other did. It was tough to tear myself away to check on the kids. On my way home I grabbed some cold beverages and was glued to the TV the rest of the night. I had a lock on tree stand on a tree in front of the house set up a couple feet off the ground as an extra place to sit. It was weird looking up in the sky and not seeing the blinking lights of airplaines that are taken for granted. I still get a feeling in my gut on this day. Quote
Red Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 i was on my way to Ft. hood for a normal days work....i forgot to shave and had some spare time, so i turned around and went home and my wife was on the phone with my mom....she had said that a bomb went off in NY....so i went to work and no one was in the office....i went around to the back and there was everyone around the TV...just as i looked at the TV the second plane hit....i knew right then i was in for a long day....i think we were locked down to post until midnight....sad day for sure...i also remember this day cuz my gramps died this day last year Cliff Quote
Top Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was in Mannheim Germany and needless to say that day has effected me more than any one event in my life. AL Quote
slomoe Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was painting my bedroom the previous night so I had pushed the TV close the bed and fell asleep . I awoke to a phone call from a friend, saying we were be attacked. I turned on the tv and watched everthing unfold. My mother was visiting my dieing grandfather at Arlington Hospital when the plane hit the pentagon. I called to make sure they were ok. The were bringing in people from the pentagon who were injured or dead and the hospital was crazy. My grandfather was retired from the merchant marines, and FBI, and had worked at the pentagon for several years. He taught my mother how to drive in parking lot there when she was younger. The following day (9-12-2001) my grandfather passed R.I.P. He was buried in Arlington cemetary, with his gravestone facing the side of the pentagon that was hit. Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 I was working for EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space); one of the other engineers screamed for all of us to switch our computers to the news as she watched what she thought was one of our planes accidentally crash into the world trade center. All of us were trying to figure out how an accident like this could possibly happen when the second plane impacts the south tower and we become aware this is no accident. Our upper management who are all from Airbus France shut the entire facility down and called a meeting in one of the hangers. The entire work force held hands and prayed for everyone in the trade centers and for President Bush. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 On vacation at the beach here in North Carolina and on my way to the golf course with Brother, his wife and her family. Brother, his BIL and I were traveling together in one car, his wife and her parents were in another that we were following to the Oak Island CC. They pulled over and my SIL leaned out the window and asked if we were listening to the radio of course not had on Van Halen! She told us that a plane had hit the WTC and it was on fire. Got to the CC and the little pro shop was filled and everyone was staring up at a small TV. Almost everyone was quiet. We were watching as the second plane hit. My SIL's family is from Northern VA and they had friends that worked at the pentagon. Everyone they knew was safe. One of their old neighbors they talked too a few days later witnessed the plane flash by and crash into the pentagon from a couple of blocks away. A vacation I will never forget. The TV stayed on almost the entire rest of the week... I support our president and the military, really wish we could find that coward bin-laden. Quote
Guest Bountiful_Waters Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 On my way to the office listening to Bob and Tom like always when things started to unfold. Called my wife who gave me the play by play until I got there. Phone rang off the hook that day from nervous investors. Sat in my lobby watching the TV all day. Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 In my truck , taking a tractor radiator to the repair shop, got to the shop, dropped it off, got back in the truck when the second one hit. Spent the rest of the day listening to the radio at the shop. Quote
basspro05 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Sitting in health class my freshman year in highschool, principal broke over the intercom and announced the terrible news. Everytime that principal came on the intercom throughout my highschool career, i always feared the worst because I just kept having flashbacks. Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 Where I was: I was watching the TV getting ready to have some breakfast ( my wife was cooking me an omellette ) when I changed the channel to the news, they were reporting that a plane had crashed against one of the twin towers, then like a malignant spot which grew larger another plane appeared in the sky and approached the other tower and crashed against it. One of the most memorable days of my life, I remember it as clearly as the day I watched in TV the man landing on the moon back in 1969. Now, like the people of Nagasaki say: what 's worse than being bombed with a nuclear weapon ? being the SECOND city to be bombed by a nuclear weapon, everybody remembers the first ( Hiroshima ), few people remember the second. Something that brings us to the following, for remembering this date alone you are forgetting the people that died in the USS Cole, you are forgetting the people that died in the bombings of the American Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, you are also forgetting the servicemen that died in the bombings of the American barracks in Riad, you are also forgetting the people that died in the first attack on the WTC. How about the people that died in the bombings in the UK, Spain and Bali, do you remember them too ? DON 'T EVER FORGET THEM EITHER !! all of them were also victims of this insanity. Quote
CJ Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 On my way to work(commercial construction site). When I got there one of the electricians had a TV.He made an antenna so we could get the news.Didn't get much done that day. Good point raul. Quote
Zel Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 At the office. The company's owner spent the day trying to contact his daughter who was at work in the World Trade Center. She ended up being okay. She grabbed the arm of a pregnant coworker and made her leave with her. Security asked them not to leave, stating it was safer to remain inside, but they disregarded the advice and headed for the river and the ferries. To this day she still has nightmares from seeing people jumping from the towers. Also, the hospital in the city where I work was designated to accept overflow injured from the attack in NYC. I organized a blood drive in my company to help out the hospital when injured were to arrive. I still remember what the hospital personnel told me that afternoon when I called back. Thank you for your help, but we won't be needing blood, there aren't any survivors. Quote
fisherguy12 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was 8 years old and playing the my back yard. I live by Mcgwire AFB and I saw a commercal plane flying north-eastish. I thought to my self " thats weird" becuase commercal plans are really rare around here. That was like 8:25ish am. I started doing my schoolwork (i was homescholed) and next thing I know I heard the AFB scrambling all jets. I ran out side and seen a whole mess of all sorts of jets taking off and flying out in formation. Well of course I was having a time of my life watching all the jets, and I didnt find out for about half a hour what was going on. Whoops! Fisherguy12 was over my house a few days ago and signed in on my PC, thats why I'm under his name right now. ~Bucketmouthangler13 Quote
FishingBuds Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 At work, we heard it on the radios and went up front to wacth it on tv. time went by and everyone kinda walked back out one by one to tell others and it was just me and the office manager there when the first tower fell. That was scary and so real. The other thing that made me sick was the drive home, watching all those Americans racing to the gas stations, that said alot to me how really people are. Sad, America just got attacked and no tellin how many died and what was next but, they made sure they had a full tank of gas. I pee off some when I say this but, oh well, its not my consious bothering me. Quote
basspro48 Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 I was sitting in my 4th grade classroom that morning, which is really the only part of 4th grade I remember (I'm a sophomore in hs now) and I clearly remember my teacher telling the class that there was an "emergency" that morning and throughout the day the principal went to each 4th and 5th grade classroom and tried to explain what had happened. But it didn't really occure to me what happened until I got off the bus, walked in the house, and saw my mom crying in front of the tv...Then I saw the video of the 2nd plane hit and the towers falling. But what really sticks in my mind was the day after, Sept. 12 is my birthday and I remember my dad calling me from the RIC airport (he is a mechanic there) and saying "I wish I could say happy birthday" Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 11, 2007 Super User Posted September 11, 2007 I was at home sick. I was in 6th grade at time, I just woke up from my nap, and every TV station was showing something on bottom line about it, so I flip to CNN and saw it. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Delivering packages at Westerly Hospital. I broke off route and went to Benny's home and auto and taped 2 small American flags to my mirrors. Their goal was to change us, it worked. In my 40 yrs of 4th of July's combined, I had never seen as many American flags as I did in those first weeks following the cowardly act. Quote

=Matt 5.0= Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I was sitting on an "I" beam 95 feet off the ground in Bellingham, Mass. Building a new natural gas fired powerplant. Came down for break, walked into the trailer and saw the second plane hit on live TV. Being close to Logan airport, I will never forget turning to my buddy Nick and saying "when was the last time you looked up and didn't see ONE airplane in the sky" Quote
John J. Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 I was in 7th grade when it happened. I remember as soon as I got home my good buddy David Rich told me about it and I quickly turned on the news to find it to be true. My mom was working for UPS and was delivering to the Spotsylvania Mall, she was scared. God bless all those souls who were lost on that tragic day, and god bless the families that had to deal with the crisis of loosing their loved ones! And last but not least God bless the USA Quote
