Guest avid Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Think I may have totaled my truck today. I had on my seat belt and the airbag deployed. Thank God the side where I just had surgery seems no more painful than ordinary. but I did get a little banged up on my left side. (It only hurts when I laugh) Road was under construction. I scrapped the temp divider and lost control in soft dirt. then slammed into permanent guardrail. I'm really lucky to have walked out of this. Wear your seat belts folks. I will be very busy attending to matters plus P/t from the surgery. Will check in from time to time. It's episodes like this - the close calls- that can cause you to take a hard look at yourself. I think this is a good time for me to do that. God bless us, everyone. avid. Quote
preach4bass Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Glad you're alright Avid. Since laughing seems to hurt, I'd suggest not reading any of Muddy's posts for a while. We'll say a prayer of thanks for you not getting hurt any worse than you did! Quote

Super User cart7t Posted September 8, 2007 Super User Posted September 8, 2007 Glad to hear you're OK. I was involved in an accident the first of last month on the way to the lake, guy dozed off at the wheel and when he finally woke up, he turned at the last minute to miss me. He didn't. He took a kiss shot off my right front bumper and slid into a concrete light standard.....HARD Only that airbag kept him from anything more than some minor cuts. Now I'm hassling with his insurance company. Apparently I'm partially at fault. I was somehow supposed to predict this guy was coming at me and was sleeping and acted accordingly. : Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Glad to hear you're ok. Get you ribs x-rayed if it hurts to laugh. Not that they can really do anything to heal them if they're broken, but you can end up with pneumonia if you don't keep your lungs fully inflated. Better safe than sorry, ya know? Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 8, 2007 Super User Posted September 8, 2007 Thank God you're ok Quote

Guest avid Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Hi everybody. Thanks for the prayers and kind words. I have being sleeping alot. Which has been good. I have a bad bruise on my elbow, but I can move it freely so nothing that won't heal. The ribs, are feeling better. No visible discoloration, and I can I take deep breaths with less discomfort than yesterday. That tells again, bruised but not broken. My wife Gail is being is proving to be a source of strength and dedication that I think (certain) I was taking for granted. I still have that knot in the pit of my stomach that's based on "what if". It's passing too, thank you Dominick for your wise words in that regard. They are sinking in. I have been able to do my home P/T on my shoulder and it is improving faster than I any right to expect. Like I said the impact was on my left side. I'll avoid yet another "what if". I won't know until early next week about the truck. It's an '05 Tacoma with 18k on it. I had it taken to a Toyota body shop because if it can be repaired (a big IF) I want all OEM parts. So,that's the update. Thank you all again for being the best group of people a guy could be associated with. Catch a biggun for avid. And remember to count your blessings. Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted September 9, 2007 Super User Posted September 9, 2007 Avid, glad to hear you are OK, at least as OK as an old fart who just had surgery and a wreck can be. I talked to Dom last night and he told me about your incident so I was planning on calling you today. I didn't get home until after 9:00 your time and I know how you old folks need your sleep, so I'll call you tomorrow. Quote
