Anybody works for or is afflitated with any companies or organzations that gives out scholarships? I've already got a web site with list of scholarships that meets my interest or things I've done to meet scholarship requirements. But I figure with 10,000 people on this web site atleast one or two of you on here got to know somebody that gives out scholarship.

I've already applied to University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and I'm also re-taking my ACT in october (the school gave me a free one so I said ah why not.) so I've been doing lot of research and trying find way to pay for college.

I do have a job and I'm employeed at k-mart they do have a scholarship for those that entering business field so I'm go talk to my human resource manager see if she knows anything about it. I also will applied for the Tennessee Lottery scholarship.

Basically if anyone have an idea on saving and gaining scholarship for college, I'm up to any suggestion.

Talk with a counselor or aid advisor at the University; they have a vast amount of options open to you. That is there job and mine did pretty much all the work for me. There is also state aid but if your parents make over a certain amount that is out. Student loans of course is an option also which you can defer payments until after school. Unless you can get a full ride, you always are going to need loans or aid but it is worth it if you finish.

Contact your local state rep via online letter for your district. I did and every year got 500 dollars from them toward my education. It was not much but, it covered a  lot of books, well, about two or three anyway, lol. Your school will also go to bat for you so see a counsler.

There is just something that bugs me about your original post (not just the typing  ;) )

Scholarships are earned, people dont "give them out."

While that may just be a way of phrasing it for you, I think it may be a little more indicative of your overall attitude.  The sooner you learn that NOTHING IS EVER FREE, the better off you will be.

Scholarships are earned. Based on hard work in school or community. Grants are a little different and are awarded on different factors. Your counselor should be able to direct you to available funds. Are you going to school this fall? If so, you waited about 12 months too long before searching for aid! If you are a senior this year, good time to start looking or working for aid. If your parents work for a large corp, there may be an avenue there.

Uncle Sam is willing to help. Consider the Guard or Reserves or even active duty. It was the best decision I ever made, and based upon your posts, may be great for you.

I am a walking/talking billboard for the military. I based my freshman year of college on who I could play football for. Not a good reason. I did not have any serious goals other than playing ball and chasing tail. One year after that, I realized that I needed to do something constructive. Joined the military in 1987. I loved the military, and put myself through school while raising three kids and 12 hour shifts as an MP. Ended up doing 5 years active and 7 years Guard. I have been blessed with a good profession and lifestyle and have no problem sending my own kids to school. That being said, my 19 yr old son is in his third week of basic at San Antonio with the Air Force. I couldn't be prouder. I know that he'll have a greater appreciation for life (especially if he spends any time in a third world country) and have a greater respect for finances. I would suggest any young man or lady who is on the ledge, consider an enlistment. Job experience is like gold in today's job market and the military is a great place to get it. I don't think the military is for everyone, but in my case, it turned out well.

This is so true. His choice of words really bugged me as well. I usually try not to vent on here, but this is just too aggravating to me. I went to school on scholarships that I earned. Worked for what little they didn't cover, and luckily never had to apply for a loan. I know tons of people that give out scholarships. I thought they awarded them, but apparently not ::). However, if you can't even make an attempt at spelling and punctuation I'll pass on giving you the information. I know that this is the internet and perfect grammar isn't required, but you are asking someone for money for an education. A little common sense should tell anyone that the request should be worded in a manner that the person is someone deserving of a scholarship to be GIVEN to them. The fact that you did not take the time gives me the impression you are looking for a handout.

No *****, tell me something I dont know.

I dont see how it bugs you. Many people around here including teachers say there are companies and organzations that are giving out scholarships for those that qualify.  My oringal post was suppose to me is there companies giving out scholarship for those that qualify. I left out the qualify part, my fault.

But whatever, I got crap to fill out.
