Practice, practice, practice and you won't need a range finder. When I first started i would measure me steps ( 15 steps = 30' etc ) I would mark a couple of trees around my stand and then I would make some out a little further. After a          

while you will learn how to judge you distance and won't need to mark anymore.

Be sure when you are practising that you are in your stand or the marked spots won't be the same. This is just how I do it, some people might like range finders. ;)

bushnell makes a one.  I think its called the yard pro 400 or something like that its about 150 bucks.  

I've had a range finder for the last 5-6 years.  One of the best things I have bought.

Range finder.  

Old arrows, with different color fletchings stuck into certain places on the ground.  Sooner or later, you will get it down purty close.
