Super User Root beer Posted September 1, 2007 Super User Posted September 1, 2007 I just found another team that couldn't handle a southern team. MICHIGAN!! Appalachian state, granted is not an SEC school or a Divison 1 school for that matter of fact, however, they are from the south where football is and alway will be king. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/boxscore;_ylt=AiiIVzvDvNGe6sAMLejdmBM5nYcB?gid=200709010029 P.S. Add Michigan to the overrated colum along with ohio state. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted September 1, 2007 Super User Posted September 1, 2007 Wow, now that's an upset. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 1, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 1, 2007 Appalachian state has won two national titles in recent years in their divison, not exactly a major upset. They can play football. My brother was recruited to play baseball for them, but he opted for ETSU instead. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 1, 2007 Super User Posted September 1, 2007 The guys from Boone did good. Now for Georgia Tech to defeat Notre Dame; Tennessee to clobber Cal; and Western Carolina to ruin Nickie's debut at Alabama. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 2, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 2, 2007 HA! ruining nickie debut my arse. 52-6 . However, I'm dissapointed they gave up 171 yards in the air. > We got an All-American candiate cornerback for goodness sake. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted September 2, 2007 Super User Posted September 2, 2007 P.S. Add Michigan to the overrated colum along with ohio state. If I added Michigan to the over-rated list, they would be on it twice. They are on it EVERY year. I cant stand Michigan. Way to go Appalachian State! Quote
Super User grimlin Posted September 2, 2007 Super User Posted September 2, 2007 I love michigan wolverines and my wisconsin badgers... Quote
gopherbass Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 the south where football is and alway will be king. I always thought education was king in the South... Quote
tipptruck1 Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 My self as a badger fan Iam real happy Michigan lost. Now we only have to worry about Ohio State. But I was worried the Bucky would lose yesterday. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted September 2, 2007 Super User Posted September 2, 2007 That was quite an upset. App State has a TON of speed. I'm worried about them being able to beat Michigan because my school (JMU) plays them quite frequently, including this year. A lot of people don't give enough credit to what was Div 1-AA teams. Many of them can really play football. Granted, they should still never be able to beat a #5 Div 1-A school but they clearly outplayed Michigan yesterday. Quote
Murray Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 The guys from Boone did good. Now for Georgia Tech to defeat Notre Dame; Tennessee to clobber Cal; and Western Carolina to ruin Nickie's debut at Alabama. thanks for warming him up for us!!! ROLL TIDE!!! Quote

Grab a clue before making a completely assine comment...This was the FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY of college football that a Division II team has beat a TOP TEN RANKED DIVISION 1A TEAM! This is ... THE BIGGEST UPSET IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY, period... Quote
Super User Root beer Posted September 3, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 3, 2007 Hey man, here was my clue..two national title in last 2 year. An idiot could've said "hey this might be a game." I didnt know App. state and michigan was playing until ESPN bought it up during the VT game. I've seen App. state play in person, man they can fly! I saw them play against ETSU (before ETSU abolish the football team) they was really executing. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted September 3, 2007 Super User Posted September 3, 2007 THE BIGGEST UPSET IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY, period... Exactly. Heck I can't even spell appulation state. Quote

They can play football. My brother was recruited to play baseball for them, but he opted for ETSU instead. One of the biggest I've ever seen. They got paid $400,000.oo to come play in the big house. I'm sure 95,000 fans was there to see Michigan, 5000 for ASU. Michigan gets blue chippers from around the country, three times the scholarships, 5 times the football budget to spend on facilities and coaches, and now gets to boast of the biggest choke in college Division I A football. Lloyd Carr will be jobless if they lose two of the three last games of the season. They play STATE, Wisc. and OSU. and could lose all 3. State has a new HOSS at running back, he looked pretty good, but then again, they wasn't playing top ranked Defense either. Matt. Quote

It makes you a low level competitor in most big conferences in 1A. RW is right, you have no clue. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 4, 2007 Super User Posted September 4, 2007 I am huge Big Ten Football fan but here in my neck of the woods (Indiana) Wabash and DePauw are the main attraction every year. They play each other every year in the Monon Bell Classic. This Nov 10th happens to be the 114th meeting of these two rivals. Has anybody heard of these two teams? Now imagine if one of these small schools took on Michigan and defeated them. The game between Michigan and App. State is a huge upset and will be remembered and replayed forever. I would say few if any in Michigan knew of App. State or gave them a moments thought as a threat. This game was supposed to be like a preseason warm up for Michigan. Quote
Bizzo Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Lou Holtz said it best, Appalachian State knows how to win. With 2 titles under their belts they have learned how, Michigan obviously does not. Bottom line, Michigan completely overlooked A state, and deserved to lose. Lloyd Carr let his team go in completely unprepared. Arrogance cost them plenty. Michigan is overrated every year, just like Notre Dame. And speaking of the two overrated teams, how fast did the Sept 15 Michigan - Notre Dame game drop off the map? Will anyone care outside of Lansing and South Bend? Personally, I think theres a good chance that this will be Michigan's first win. This coming weekend Michigan plays Oregon at the big house and Penn State plays Notre Dame at PSU, My prediction is for another Michigan loss, and Notre Dame will get SLAUGHTERED. Quote
