preach4bass Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I prefer one souluton for convicted felons: If the crime involves rape, torture, murder or treason, I say hang 'em all, every Saturday, downtown and at noon. As for Vick, take your pick: Throw him under the jail or under a bus. Come on Roadwarrior, you know that's not the answer. The Bus retired
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 Matt if anything attacked my kids id feel the same way ,should we ban cockerpaniels also???? People are getting feelings confused with natures law and everyone has diff feelings so ALL of us cannot be pleased without stepping on others feelings so it needs to have a check put on it no matter what it is it happened let natures law decide what happens and let our feelings just be feelings enough said!!!!!!!! Super User Root beer Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 I never care for vick as an athlete, because i thought he was kind of a selfish player, but it kind of roast my nuggets that people are just telling him to burn in hell. If vicks is ban from NFl, you better start banning pacman jones, Jamal lewis, and few other NFL players that been in trouble with law. What vick did was nothing compare to what other players did. Like the other guy said somewhere above me..American people hate pitbull and yet they are on pitbull side. I mean it is kind of sick seeing someone do this to dogs, but come on you got better things to worry about then vick gambling on dog fight. :

Troutfisher Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Where are the values now days? Dogs get more attention that a homeless guy freezing and starving to death. That starving homeless person should apply for Welfare, HUD, Community Action, his local food pantry, clothing giveaways, The Union Mission, or better yet, apply for a job at Wendy's, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Faith Mission, or a similar job and save enough money to have a house until he gets on his feet again. As for Vick, he shouldn't play again.
BassHunter69 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 well the homeless situation is a whole nother discussion my friend
Troutfisher Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 It is, I'd like to not discuss it, as this isn't the proper place. I just wanted to offer a rebuttle.

Troutfisher Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 No problem. To clarify more on Vick, I used to admire him. However, that was before the dog fighting incedent. Now, I think of him lower than dirt. He didn't just fight the dogs. After he was through fighting the dogs, and if one didn't die, he would either drown it or brutally kill it in some other way. It seems to me someone sick enough to fight dogs would no doubt move on to humans. That's something serial killers are known for. Usually, they'll start by killing animals, and then they'll move onto their first victims. I guess it's some kind of sick adrenaline rush or something. I think maximum punishment would be fully appropriate. >

Troutfisher Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Well, that's why I don't bank all my trust on overpaid football *cough* steroids *cough* players... ;D
NaterD Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 in response to an earlier post about americans hating the pit. Fact of the matter is that the Pit is a dog of stereotype. Often times found in slums with little to no training and thought to be a mindless rabid freak. Often the dog of choice for illegal fighting/gambling...or guard dogging due to their smaller stature yet very muscular build. The pit bull is a product of its environment no different than a child.... if it raised properly it can be the greatest dog you could have, or the meanest kid on block. This is a relevant use of tax dollars because it spotlights everyone involved and gets this b.s. off the field and otta the slumbs.
Super User Matt Fly Posted August 30, 2007 Super User Posted August 30, 2007 NaterD, Try Google, and PitBulls, you will find thses dogs have had that temperment long before they ever stepped foot on American soil. You can say we stereo type things, but we have nothing to do with the early breeds that these dogs came from. They are what they are. Just like trying to make a fighting dog out of a spanel, not their temperment, not saying they won't fight, but its not bred for that purpose, and pits were. People need to leave the breed out of this when referring to Vick, what Vick did would have been cruel to any animal. Matt
slomoe Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Pitbulls get waaaayyy too much negitive publicity. A year ago when an Akita ripped the flesh off of my 4 year old neices back and shoulder, requiring many many stiches, and possibly some reconstructive surgery, you never heard a thing about it on the news, news paper, or radio. People are infatuated with these dogs. When I hear about a dog fighting ring being busted or bite incident, or what ever, I get very upset. I pray for the injured, but my heart aches due to the fact the media will be targeting this breed agian, building fear within the public eye. All in all, there is a cultural difference in the way people see pets. Some see just an animal, Others see a family member. I see a family member.... I think 18-24 months will learn em'

I think 18-24 months will learn em' Ya they do get a lot of negativity i have had pits before very gentle dogs .if you have pits or any dog for that matter some require a lot of attention obediance training and such .This happens with guns also makes you wonder how many ppl are killed by other breeds of dogs and knives/machetes/stakes/hammers/cars/tree limbs /sticks/ bats the list goes on .its so easy for ppl to point a finger at a cause of death/despair/ but everyone OVERLOOKS the reason for it happening anyway .If we could all blame our mistakes on something other the our own doing the world would be chaos in a matter of seconds
NaterD Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 "People need to leave the breed out of this when referring to Vick" I concurr.

I think 18-24 months will learn em' Of course they are good dogs WHEN THEY ARE SLEEPING!!! ;D Just kidding. I spent the night at a friend's house in High School and fell asleep in the middle of his livingroom floor while studying. I was woke up in the middle of the night with his pet pit bull licking my lips. That scared me to death. I was a disoriented, so I didn't know what in the world was going on. But once I realized where I was at and what was going on I had to admit that Razor (the dog) was a pretty good kisser ;D
slomoe Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 they are good kissers!! ;D And please forgive me, I was not targeting Akitas or any other breed of dog, just trying to make a point.
Super User Root beer Posted August 31, 2007 Super User Posted August 31, 2007 Pitbulls aren't mean. I have a boxer and people will confused them for pitbulls. Some people are scared of him at first, then once he jumped on them trying to kiss 'em they start to love him. It all about the owner. If owner mean to dog the dog be mean back.
Guest avid Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 i think what he did was disgusting it will likely cost him most if not all of his fortune, and he will do time. but i believe that to deny a criminal the right to earn a living after he serves his sentence is wrong. if he can make a pro team he should be allowed to play. if the public Will no longer pay to watch him then economics will force him out
fishingfourfun Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 He needs to be banned from the NFL for a while and serve some time in prison. I think Roger Godell is doing thr right thing by trying to clean up the sport. People like Vick should learn that playing in the NFL is a priveledge and not a right. They should be hit in the pocketbook and that will help them in their decision making process. With this being said I do believe in second chances. We have all made decisions that we are not proud of. It is what we do after that truly shows your character or lack thereof.
Guest avid Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 People like Vick should learn that playing in the NFL is a priveledge and not a right A right????????????????? I don't know about you but when I spend a couple of hundred bucks to see a pro football game, I don't want see 22 guys with high moral standards. I don't give a ratz azz about their "personal integrity" I want to see the 22 guys who were able to overcome all the monumental obstacles to EARN that spot. I want to see the best, and I want them to give it their all. If I want morality on a Sunday afternoon there's more than enough preachers I can tune in to.
