It wouldn't break my heart if he didn't step foot on an NFL field again

This is simply one of many examples of the public idolizing a sports figure only to realize that money and fame corrupts. Many of these sports figures are not worthy of our admiration. Lets face it, they can run, hit, throw, or catch a ball. Is that ability something worthy of putting someone on a pedestal? I much rather would look up to a fireman, police officer, teacher, preacher, of someone who selflessly gives of themselves to help others. Not someone that makes millions because they are good with a ball. I am not against sports figures, I simply don't understand what makes the general public go nuts over them and their one dimentional talent.

That is my 2cents worth.  8-)

I can't say how I feel about him on here or I'd probably be banned.  As a pet owner and a dog lover I feel it is cruel, inhumane and even outright wrong to be involved with any sort of doings in this so called "sport".  It is a way for guys who have money to get there rocks off.  I'd like to see one of them get in a ring with some of these trained pitbulls with nothing but their hands and defense tactics, no weapons and see how they do.

I think Vick should never play the game again and feel just like BassChaser.  Sports figures are suppossed to set examples but rarely do we see many guys who do.  When a football player can get away with murder, weapon charges, animal cruelty, etc thats bs.  Vick will get his in prison.

I agree with that 100%

If it were you or I that pleaded guilty to those crimes, we would do jail time (several years), pay huge fines and LOSE OUR JOBS. Why shouldn't he get the same treatment that any "regular" guy would get?

I think that if he does his time and pays his "debt to society" then he should be free to seek employment... in other words once his punishment is served, I think that's it, and he should be allowed to return to work... just like and subject to all the hardships any other ex-con would face.

If the NFL has other guidelines surrounding image and behavoir that if that rules him out of returning, so be it, he can work a regular job like the rest of us.

With all due respect, I highly doubt that. When I saw all the investigators on Vick's property I was shocked. Cracking down on dog fighting is the best allocation of resources the FBI can come up with? Who cares? There are bigger fish to fry than dog fighting, somebody just wanted some time in the spotlight. And for the record, I didn't like Vick prior to this incident.

Despite his money, Vick is low-life trash, nothing more nor less.  As far as I am concerned, he should be sentenced to 99 years in the electric chair.

he deserved to be punihes.  his fine should be higher than averabe.  it would simply be ridiculous  to fine him the same amoung a s some one working in Walmrt for minimum wage.  Jail time is often geiven in these cases. a year or two. often less for first offenders with any other crimes.  this is how our system works.  He derserves on better, buj he also deserves on worse.

He should do one year of prison....then one year working at the humane society. Then maybe he can see the errors of his ways. But just because he found Jesus does not mean he doesn't have pay mans laws.

What a IDIOT!

Heres the left field of all of this.     Last nights Power of Ten, the question was asked

How many Americans think that Pit Bulls should not be allowed for family Pets?        Key words, should not be.

If not pets, then what?   fighting?     57 % of Americans think they shouldn't be allowed to have as pets.

Here we are, part of a society who have burned people at the stake, hung them in public view, be-headed them at one time,  Electro-cuted them in the chair, death by firing squad, and now death by needle,  Whipped in public by slave owners, and on top of that, we sell a hunting license to a hunter that bow hunts with average kill rates of less than 50%, so an animal can crawl off and suffer to die, and thats only the bow and arrow part of that, not too mention that we fill birds up with lead and steel for them to fly off and suffer and die.

I for one don't care about pit bulls, they were not breed for family dogs, and have exhibited great violence toward humans.     If they were to get the death penalty, the breed that is, wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

If your child was attacked by a pit for no reason, you'd feel the same.     They only serve the people that use them for what they are still around for, and that is fighting.

WE as Americans, see homeless suffer every day, the average homeless eat about once every 19 hours, and thats a small portion.

When we as Americans DON"T cry as loudly for the homeless, instead of how a Sick individual supposedly killed some dogs, then I might look at this different.

Thats sad, we treat our homeless the same way.      They suffer everyday, yet don't get the public's blood pumping like this does.

Where are the values now days?    Dogs get more attention that a homeless guy freezing and starving to death.

I could careless about what peoples feelings are on dogs when humans are going through the very same pains.

Just wanted to point out that there are greater travisties out there happening everyday to humans that don't get this kind of attention.

now hold on dog fighting is againist the law i for one an appauled at this its cruel while people call us as fishermen fish killers and what not just because we fish dog fighting is a far more brutal and painful thing, the catching and releasing a bass. i agree with the n.f.l when you get in that league its only common sense that you have to conduct your self in a professional manner after all its the PRO'S .

so if he looses his job then its his fault not mine, nor yours or the nfl's personally i dont think the nfl will let him back to do so will say to younger kids who look up to these men as role models that dog fightsing ok and you can still play pro ball NOT GONNA HAPPEN !!!!

the N.F.L wants a clean image as a way of good clean family fun thats how they make their $$$$$

Which part do you doubt?  I dont know too many people who have jobs that their current employer would welcome them back with open arms if convicted of a federal offense.

Thanks for your post Matt! I don't like what Vick did, but his crimes involved dogs, not humans! Ray Lewis (I believe it was him anyway, but the press didn't cover it enough for his name to stick) "allegedly" murdered a PERSON and there was no where near as much outcry about that as there is for Vick killing some dogs. Seems like we've lost sight of the importance of HUMAN life. :'(

Matt if anything attacked my kids id feel the same way ,should we ban cockerpaniels also????  People are getting feelings confused with natures law and everyone has diff feelings so ALL of us cannot be pleased without stepping on others feelings so it needs to have a check put on it no matter what it is it happened let natures law decide what happens and let our feelings just be feelings enough said!!!!!!!!

I prefer one souluton for convicted felons:

If the crime involves rape, torture, murder or treason, I say hang 'em all, every Saturday, downtown and at high noon.

If the crime is against children, hang 'em twice, the second time by the neck.

As for Vick, take your pick: Throw him under the jail or under a bus.
