Never had much luck w/ subsurface/wake crankbaits, caught some but not my confidence lure.

That all changed today, even w/ the weather going to nasty storm attitude.

I bought the chart shad color & worked it close to the shorline & casted out.  Fighting against the wind, this lure still casted out there.

I ended up catching 11 bass on the Mann's 1-Minus & a couple more drop shotting.  None of the bass were big but talk about a fun couple hours!

I don't know what's the deal w/ this lure is, but it sure catches bass.

Also used the new Cumara 6/8" M/H spinning rod w/ a Pflueger Supreme 8030 spinning reel.  This combo is very light, much lighter than when I had the Saros 2500 mounted on the Cumara.  Also used Yozuri 6 lb Ultrasoft spooled on...NO problems what so ever w/ Ultrasoft, I am sold on this line!

Now I have to dig around for the other Mann's 1-Minus  that I have....I have a new confidence lure!

i really like wake cranks. great when bass are up shallow over weeds or something like that.

i dont like the manns -1 though, i really like the bandit footloose. in the summer, when the farm ponds are only a few feet deep, sometimes this is the only crankbait i can catch em on.

Mann's -1 definitely has its time and place, and the local Dick's Sporting Goods store has a buy 3 get one free going on Elites - so I got 4 new colors to try this spring  :)

I've done real well with river smallmouths on the Mann's.  Great wake bait!

This was my confidence bait for the first month of fishing this year. Multiple great color options, you can throw it over submerged weed beds and next to timber. It's a GREAT pond bait and a search bait. I have also caught a Striper and Yellow Perch on the Potomac on one of these and a pickerel to boot at Briery Creek Lake. So multiple species will take this.

Mann's makes great cranks. Only downfall is that the hooks get caught up on each other sometimes and they don't run right but it only takes a second to fix so...

Grade A lure choice for shallow water, ponds, open water search bait, and parallel bank fishing.

I'd say almost half my fish this year have come off the Mann's Minus One/Elite series.  The others have been off senkos, zoom g tail worms, rat l traps, and one off a spinner.

Manns -1 is my go to shallow running crankbait. Over weeds on spinning gear they're just deadly. I've also used them bed fishing with short jerks and a pause. It seems to really tick off the LM into striking.

Funny you say that Ghostman...

I was at Dick's yesterday and they had a big clearence bin....

I went through it...same old stuff...but I saw a Mann's 4- (I guess that means 4 ft. and above according to the package) and it caught my eye.... it looked different. Got it for $2.00.

Now I can't wait to try it!!!!

I've been using them for about three years now. You can't beat them in the spring.

I agree, they're tremendous baits. My brother used them pretty much non-stop this spring and had a lot of luck.

One technique you might want to try, especially on windless days, is fishing it kind of like a frog. Cast it out and work it really slowly with twitches, pauses, cranks, etc. Sometimes if nothing else works, that is too much for the fish to resist.

On an almost unrelated note: my brother lost a Mann's in a small pond we fish and we couldn't retrieve it. Two weeks later I was messing around with a Blue Fox inline spinner, blind casting, and I snagged it - now it's in my tackle box  ;D . What are the chances?
