tipptruck1 Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Well this was my first week of college. I was scared to death about failing. Its been 4 years since I last sat in a class room. I was also never that good at school. My main class I was worried about was math class. That by far was my worst class. I get to math and its stuff I learned in middle school. So I don't think iam going to have no problem. Then I learn I get a huge discount on tools. I get 55% from Snap-on, 50% on mac, and 10% from sears. But due to my gradparents and my gradpa working there I get more like 20-30%. So yesterday we went and got almost all my tools from sears. Nothing wrong with Snap-on or Mac tools. I would just pay a little less for the same tool. So it looks like iam going to have agreat time in school and will make it till may when iam done. Quote
preach4bass Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Just wait until you take your first English class. You'll probably find it harder when they try to teach you the difference between something being "to easy" and "too easy." ;D J/K Quote
Guest avid Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 what's the name of your college tip? i know this can be tough on you, but i want you to try and think for just a minute. Doesn't it strike you as a little odd that your college is teaching middle school math? and ummmmmmmmmmm i agree you may find freshman comp. to be a bit more challenging. does your college have a course called "English 101 'Freshman COMPOSITION'" OR A SIMILAR TITLE? GOOD LUCK DUDE!!!!! You'll have that certificate of completion in no time. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 27, 2007 Super User Posted August 27, 2007 We are either math or English. This means that some of us do well in math while others excel at English. If you are a math guy then you do not do well in English. If you are an English guy you do not do well in math. However, being you I think you will do well in both. There are tests to find out which one is your strength and some employers use these tests when hiring people. So where do English people go? Law school, politics, management. Where do math people go? Computers, accounting and the trades industry. So don't worry about it. You will do just fine. Now is the time to start working on your parents to give you a new Ranger boat and Ford truck for your graduation present. ;D Quote
Bassboy15 Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 It's only your first week though, this is when you review, next will come the fun ;D Quote
L-Train Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Just wait until you take your first English class. You'll probably find it harder when they try to teach you the difference between something being "to easy" and "too easy." ;D J/K That was exactly my first thought when I read the title to this thread. Watch out for double negatives too. Just kidding. Congrats on going back to school. Quote

Super User Dan: Posted August 27, 2007 Super User Posted August 27, 2007 The first classes are always easy, just wait until you get into more specialized advanced classes. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Why don't you try staying awake for your next class Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted August 27, 2007 Super User Posted August 27, 2007 The key is KEEPING UP. Don't slack off or fall behind unless you like staying up all night maybe 2-3 nights to learn all the stuff you should have been doing all semester. I mean, I have never done this, but a friend of mine has ....... : :) Quote
Guest avid Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 so what's the name of your college son, be proud!!!! Quote

Super User Raul Posted August 27, 2007 Super User Posted August 27, 2007 Wanna hear something from somebody who taught in college for 11 years ? I taught compared animal anatomy at the school of veterinary medice, in order to be a vet first you have to learn anatomy, and yes, there were a bunch of stidents that said anatomy wasn 't too hard ....... that was until I made the first evaluation on the second week :; in Mexico we don 't grade students with letters like they do in the States, we grade students with a scale of 0 to 10 with full points and decimals, in order to approve the assignment you have to get a 7, so if you get a 6.9 you are flunked. The Pope asked Giotto if he was a good painter, Giotto grabbed a piece of charcoal and to demonstrate his skills he drew a perfect circle by hand ( got any idea how hard that is ? ), I must have a certain ammount of Giotto in my veins cuz I can also draw perfect 0 's by hand. Half of the students that said that anatomy wasn 't that hard got 0.0 ( yeah ZERO ), none of those who said anatomy wasn 't that hard passed, man I loved to prove them wrong. ;D So don 't say college is easy, teechurs will prove you wrong, all you have to do is leave that cockiness behind and begin styuding hard. Super User Long Mike Posted August 28, 2007 Super User Posted August 28, 2007 Let me think here. Tip is going to college. He gets a discount on his tools. The math is 6th grade level. I am willing to speculate that Tip is aspiring to become a small engine repair specialist at his local community college. Not that there is anything wrong with that. : Quote
Super User cart7t Posted August 28, 2007 Super User Posted August 28, 2007 My son went to a technical college to learn to be a CNC machinist. Classes such as math or English basically taught students what you needed to know for the particular trade you were entering in and would not be defined as true college level courses as any credit you received from the classes would not be transferable towards an accredited degree. Good luck though. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Well iam going to become a body techian. And cart is right there just teaching us what we needed. Buy the way I will be getting a ranger and a ford truck. I hope next year at this time I will be looking at options so I can order it by spring of 08. The truck will not be a brand new truck. But It will be nice enough for me. Quote
