flyphisher # Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Up this morning Before the sun Fixed me some coffee and a honey bun Jumped in my pickup Gave her the gas I'm goin' out to catch a five pound bass Down by the lake side Just off the ramp All them people sleeping in their fising camp Some out in the pup tents Some out on the grass They all be dreaming 'bout that five pound bass The early birdie always gets his worm Me I always get my wish When you're talking 'bout that five pound bass son The early wormy gets the fish Jumped in my john boat I stow my gear I fire her up and when I am in the clear I sail across that water As smooth as glass Ready here I come you five pound bass I find a perfect spot Some old dead trees Back in a canyon where you cain't feel no breeze I tie my lure I make my cast It's breakfast time you five pound bass That old sun is rising That water is clear I watch my lure as it's flying through the air I see a ripple I hear a splash Lord have mercy, It's a five pound bass By Robert Earl Keen, real texas style country music....... flyphisher # Posted August 24, 2007 Author Posted August 24, 2007 That is just a taste of texas music....actual country music like it is supposed to be played, imho... I have had the cd for years and never thought to post the lyrics...Its great to see him do it live after 6 or so beers, if i must day. REK prollie puts on the best live show in country music, without alot of flash, One of the best live acts I have seen and i go to alot of shows. I saw maybe 6 times in college... Other good ones are gringo honeymoon and the road goes on forever, rollin by, corpus christie bay, I m coming home....most all are great though.. Quote
L-Train Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 That's been my sig. line since I joined Texas Country Music is the only country music IMO. I listen to that song on the way to the lake everytime I go. I wrought a short diatribe about my thoughts of Country Music today in some thread on here. I won't get started though b/c it is Friday and I am in a good mood. I will not let thoughts of Kenny I have Pec Implants Chesney, Trace Atkins, Big N Rich, or any other of those no talent hacks ruin my Friday. I mean Honkey Tonk Badonkadonk, She thinks my Tractor is Sexy. Can it get any worse? Quote

I will ask my gf again who sings "Bubba's beer, bait and ammo." check out www.radiofreetexas.org Mainstream music sucks, period...Its just crap...most stuff on country radio isnt country... Dirks Bentley is the only mainstream artists, i think i listen to. Stoney Larue is really good. Charlie Robinson is one of my favorites, Cory Morrow has some good stuff. the great divide, Pat Green was really good back in 01 before his cd got big. and dont even get me talking about alt country, Son Volt, Uncle tupelo, the bottle rockets all make/made great music.... My gf is living in the middle of the texas music scene right now, hopefully about to get a little record deal, so i get exposed to a ton of good music from out there. I listen to alot of outlaw and alt country too. also alot of bluegrass. Quote
L-Train Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Kevin Fowler sings Beer, Bait, and Ammo. It doesn't get any better than www.radiofreetexas.org "We ain't real radio, but at least we're not douchebags". That radio station gets me through the day. I log in at 8 and stay logged on until 5, EVERYDAY. All those guys you listed are awesome. I'll add Ryan Bingham (new album coming out, he just signed with Lost Highway), Hayes Carll, Reckless Kelly, Jason Boland, and many others. I am really good friends with the guy who started www.lonestarmusic.com. Chad has introduced me to so many good singer/songwrites and musicians since I met him. Who is your GF (if you don't mind me asking). Just curious If I have heard of her or if she gets any play are RFT. Quote
