Hey Fellas: Tues starts next to last class, 5 weeks and 3 papers. Then a few weeks off and last class same drill 5 wks and 3 papers, at least no finals involved. When I first started i din't think it was possible, but my degree is in sight. I wish my Father was still alive, it's all he ever wanted for me.

The stress level is high, i spent the last week giving up some responsibilities i have been carrying, and letting some others shoulder them , at least for a while

TO THE YOUNGSTERS ON THESE FORUMS; Not everyone nees to go to college , but if you decide it is for you DO IT WHEN YOU RE YOUNG, give up the ocassional night out. It is a lot easier when you are younger because the reponsibilities you have in your later years just make it all the more difficult.

I can only see a few more days on the water this year, but once the Holidays roll aroun Im done, thanks for all who supported me during this ;)

TRUTH BE TOLD; I am fried and a bit overworked , this is not gonna be an easy few months, but it is do-able ( thats a real college term ::))

My associates degree, I need it to hold my promotion. Work is paying the tab ;) I have 160 credits , from several colleges WITHOUT EVER FINISHING A DEGREE, which is disgraceful. Once I get my associates i am contemplating getting my BA. The college will accept more credits with the Assoc. tagged to them. I may be able to get my BA with just another 20 credits or so. It depends on what i am feeling and if work will continue to cover the tuition. In all honesty i think I will end it here. I really dislike school at his point, even though I am doing good.

The next position i am looking at only requies the Assoc.

Muddy,

Congrats!! You are on the right track!  I can't tell you how many times I wish I had gone back to finish my degree.  As things turned out, I don't need it now but it is still the single biggest regret in my life.  I can recall 15-20 opportunities that I missed out on due to the lack of that one little piece of paper...

If you go back and get the BA...  send me the specs to your dream rod- I'd be honored to build it for you as a graduation gift.

You go Muddy. I didn't go back to college until I was forty five. Trust me, its worth it. I took a ribbing from two people of how dumb it was to go to college at my age, and took some hits while attending, I am now their boss. ;):)

I do appreciate that offer, in reality i am leaning more to staying with the assoc., just putting out there whats available.

I'm not trying to steer you, just wanted to throw out a small carrot in case you were torn.  You are way ahead of me either way and I admire your dedication.

Man I am not way ahead of you. The time we spent at the Fork showed me how heads up you are ;)

Way to go Dom. You won't regret all the hard work. Although I never finished my degree program (had a family to support) last week (by God's grace) I was able to send in the last payment for my oldest daughter's tuition at Rutgers. She will graduate with honors a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and the best part, with no loans to pay back. I am very proud of her.

I am proud of you too Muddy!

WE KNOW

So stop volunteering for every dang liberal bleeding heart "help thy brother" cause that comes along.

Trust me, the world will still need saving AFTER you graduate.

You gotta feel compassion for yourself dude.

It is totally allowed

PS.   where the helll is my dang T-shirt already HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM  >:(

Muddy, going back to school at your advanced old age is a tough thing to do.  You know very well that street smarts often work much better than book smarts in your line of work.  Unfortunately, the powers-that-be most probably have book smarts only, and therefore insist on college level education, assuming it will help you do your job better.  Regardless, WELL DONE.

BTW, are you going to have a Graduation party?  If so, Avid said he would pay my air fare if I wanted to attend along with him. :D

Though I don't know specifically, I agree in priciple with avid (ooo, that hurts to say that).  Taking care of others is a noble and wonderful thing, but when it comes at the cost of your own happiness and sanity then what's the real point of it?  You gotta take time for yourself every now and again and say hang the rest.

Good luck with the degree, dude, I know you'll succeed with flying colors!  If there's anything I can do to help, let me know; I used to be a tutor in college (Hey, there's alot of people that need help with frisbee, I'm just glad I can help them out...)

Credit Muddy, not me... he won me over at Fork and his tireless work and devotion at the "home" are truely inspirational.  I'd pay to hear his whole testimony. (leave this one alone, Mike!)

I've shared parts of his story with guys that are struggling in my Bible study group and it always helps...  Muddy is developing quite a following in Central Tx.  ...lol   ;D

Your PM must have bounced back!

Way to go Muddy!  I got my Associates, Bachelors and Masters also while I was working full time and raising a family.  So I know how hard it is.  I believe getting your degree is an investment that pays the highest of dividends.  Hang in there and good luck.  Can't wait till I see pictures of MOOK GRADUATE written on the top of that mortarboard graduation cap.
