Super User Alpster Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 Had the most excellent trip to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado with my daughter. We rode a total of 5600 miles. We certified two Iron Butt rides SS1000 (1000 miles in less than 24 hours) and Bun Burner 1500 (1500 miles in less than 36 hours). The vistas and scenery were breathtaking. The roads were unbelievable! We saw wildlife, rented quads and rode literally into the mountains. Best of all, we made some daddy/daughter memories to last a lifetime. I wish you all could have gone, it was incredible. Here's a few pics......... This is my daughter watching a DVD video on the bike (no kidding)....... The lady on the purple bike riding behind us is a bit of a legend. She holds the world record for miles traveled on a motorcycle in a single year (126,137 miles) you will find her name in the Guiness book in 2008. Pictures just don't do justice to the views........ The quads were a BLAST!!!! My ever loving pride and joy (my daughter, not the bike LOL).................... My daughter has about 12000 miles in the saddle riding with me. I can't tell you how awesome it is that we get to spend this time together doing something we both enjoy. Thanks for letting me show off. I missed the board and am glad to be back. Ronnie Quote
Deb Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Welcome back Alpster!!! Super User Catt Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 Welcome back Dude & yes it beautiful (the scenery) Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Glad you guys had an excellent time together and all arrived home safely. That's quite a rig you have there Ronnie!! (the bike) So,....you have a beautiful daughter too. First Avid, now you,...and I have a feeling RW has a beauty at home too, he's keeping very tight lipped around me, a good sign, lol. Did you guys fish at all on the trip? I can't imagine a rig like that doesn't come with rod holders! Question- How is your arthritis on these trips, I would imagine holding that throttle for long periods would drive your hands nuts. I know when I ride moto-x after a long break, my hands SCREAM, and I don't have arthritis! (yet) Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 14, 2007 Super User Posted August 14, 2007 niksfishinmom stated: I cherish the memories of my daughter more than life itself...... I second that twice. My two daughters are everything to me. Alpster, I know you and your daughter had a grand time. Nice pics. I'm really happy for you. Quote

(yet) I have a rod holder that attaches to the trailer hitch, but I needed the hitch to carry my daughter's girlie stuff. LOL The Goldwing has an electronic cruise control, just like in your car. It's one of the many reasons I ride this particular bike. I also stop and stretch every 100 miles or so. Ronnie Quote

PaparockArk Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I miss the country but not the cold during the winter. I have a daughter in Denver, one in Colorado Springs and my wife and I were married in Buena Vista, Colorado. It is some beautiful God's country. Buena Vista, Colorado http://www.buenavistacolorado.org/ Great Sand Dunes, Colorado http://www.sangres.com/np/sanddunes/index.htm The San Luis Valley of Colorado (SLV) is now being called the "New Area 51". It is also the home of unexplained animal mutilation (where the reports began back in September, 1967). http:// tmv.us/site/Books/The_Mysterious_Valley.html http://members.fortunecity.com/wwoveride/unexplained.html Quote

Super User Redlinerobert Posted August 16, 2007 Super User Posted August 16, 2007 Ronnie, Good to have you back! I can tell you that some of my most memorable moments are times that I get to spend with my dad. I am sure that your lovely daughter feels the same way. Quote
PaparockArk Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 So tell us more about where you went, stopped, and saw in Colorado Alpster! Having lived ten years in Wyoming and dating my wife in Colorado I spent a lot of time in some of the most majestic country a man can ever hope to see in both states. I miss the country and its beauty, as most who have lived there do, so tell us details so we can experience it again through your eyes. My two daughters are still in Colorado that I hope to see this next year as I will be going to Colorado to visit friends and them (I hope). My two daughters, both had time and kind words for me until they found out they were not receiving an inheritance from my mother's will after she died two years ago (ex-wife taught them they are entitled to everything). They both even demanded a copy of the will to prove that I was not cheating them out of "their" money (I could hear my ex-wife talking through them). Now my daughters do not answer the phone, return mail, or allowed any contact with my four grandsons for two years. You have a beautiful daughter that spends time with you for which you are greatly blessed so enjoy your great blessings. Life is too short to put off till tomorrow memories that you can be making today that will last the rest of the life of everyone you share them with. Your mother does beautiful art Fourbizzle. Quote
