Why was my post locked so quickly.

I was going to email a mod and ask this question but, it was a honest question post that I thought could have been fruitful and informative and concerned our guys in the military. It was not political in a real sense, it was not mean spirited, it could have been opinionated but, like I said. I saw no real reason to shut it down. Just curious. I saw where it may have looked like it could have turned bad, but, I certainly would not have lead it there. I am pretty easy to get along with. I took it a little personally that it was shut down so soon without the benefit of the doubt for as many post as I have had in here. Again, certainly no problem with this decision, its you guys call, but, I was just curious why it was red flagged so quickly. I have seen you guys let other post go to the hilt. Welcome made a statement, and I Blair respounded. We PMed and let our thoughts known like adults so...

I don't know if the mods will come along to answer your question since the policy is not open for debate.  However, I would, as someone who enjoys your posts, like to say please don't take it personal and hold it against the forum.  The mods can't know that you won't take the post in the wrong direction.  Or that someone won't come along and insult your son forcing you to take it in the wrong direction.  As i'm sure you know there is many differing opinions on the war were in right now.  The mods made a decision that the subject was a little to touchy and locked it.  It was nothing personal just a judgement call.  You yourself admitted you could see how it was a little political.  Think about all our men overseas right now and i'm sure you'll realize there is worse things than having a thread locked.

I felt that you were entitled to state your opinion so I didn't remove it but I felt it needed to be locked before it went awry.  Nipped it in the bud.

Mattm said it better than I could have.  However, I can understand how yuo feel ("but nothing went wrong...there were no arguments").  But if we let it go, and it DID turn into a slug-fest, then people would be saying "why didn't you lock it up... didn't you see it coming?".   So, we're in between a rock and a hard place.

As LBH said, it's nothing against you nor your statements/beliefs. It's more of a matter of maintaining the peace around here. It's much easier to pre-empt a blow up rather than try to clean up the mess and hurt feelings afterwards.

Matt, I am not the kind to jump up and down and cry foul. Its the mods and Glenns decision. Yes, I did take it a little personally, but, I also realize this is not a democracy in here. I mean, I do get it. I know Welcome is well liked in here and I certainly have nothing against him, in fact, I enjoy some of his post no matter how brash he is sometimes ( just a statement George, no mean spiritness involved so, don't snap out on me,lol ). Everyone is different. I don't think he is a bad guy, and I am certainly not. I just felt it was shut down because of some peer thing. No big deal. I am surely not going to let a fishin post ruin my day, but, I am a curious kind of guy and not afraid to ask. I don't tip toe around. If they don't answer, thats fine, if they do, thats fine too. As I said, just curious.

 As an active duty Marine, I appreciate the post. However with all the different opinions on the war I can see where it could have gotten out of hand. LBH and Glenn came out and let you know it wasn't personal that it was just a touchy subject. I will say God bless your son and you for your genuine concerns for all of us on active duty.

Yo Skinny (and horny)  read the Gawddem post!!!!.  It says picutures of my kids "and their spouses"  Maybe you missed the part where I am all spiffed out in my tux with my SON _IN _LAW  for those of you from Rhode Island, that means my daughters husband.
