I do not like Barry Bonds but he is going to break the record, however, I would not be surprised to see his record broken in 5 to 10 years by A-Rod. He is sittng on 499, and he is still fairly young by baseball standards.

I just wish Griffey hadn't been injured all those years.  So he would be breaking it, and we could all be celebrating this great record that is about to be broken.

I live in Oakland, a 10 minute drive from SF, and I don't hate barry bonds, but I have 0 respect for him.

I wish he would walk away from baseball, 1 away from tying the record, and just bow out respectfully. Don't cheat to break a record, he knows he cheated, why would he do that?

Regardless, Barry Bonds will always have that * beside his name in the record books.

I hope there is an asterisk next to the record and I hope A-Rod(who I cant stand), Pujols, or Howard breaks it in the next ten years. >:( One thing is Barry Bonds will never be celebrated or admired like Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Willie Mays, or the other old timers who played the game the way it was meant to be played.

AMEN!  I'm still thinking "what if"

For some reason I wasn't getting notifications on this despite it being checked.

InPa it took me a second but that * was pretty funny.

MattM re: the rookie card I laughed my butt off. I don't know how you pulled that off but you ought to send that to Jay Leno. If you do let us know what you hear back.

You also ought to put that in its own thread tittled Barry bonds Rookie card so more can see it. That is a classic of all time.

I love baseball. I love seeing baseball played the way it was intended. And I think that the records are a huge deal. After all baseball is a numbers game. Weather the substance he used is or is not specifically banned in the baseball "rules" its still cheating IMHO. No the substance did not help him make contact but it sure helped those would be fly balls go into the seats.

And to anyone who possibly thinks he didn't use performance enhancers... LOOK AT THE SIZE OF HIS HEAD!!! Its twice the size of when he was a rookie!! That is not natural

I don't mean to sound rude, but quite frankly it's not your opinion that matters.

Baseball has the most rules and statistics than any game I can think of.  If a guy figures out a way to improve his performance and NOT violate the rules, then ---by definition---- he is NOT cheating.

And lot's not be naive ok?

The spitball has been banned for how many years?

Amazing how well that rule is enforced.

Hellll, Ive seen pitchers load up a ball so much, you see the spit flying off the ball on it's way to the plate!!!  ;D

Please, don't go "Charlie Allen" on us.

His head has muscles growing out of it, it's not IF he took performance drugs, cause he OBVIOUSLY did, he's just not  a man and can't admit he willingly took them.

No ones head grows that big, that round, and gets MUSCLES in their head like that.

Perhap he gained weight. 6 month of weight lifting time can gain you some muscles. ;)

I'm not going to say barry isn't taking drugs. Weather he is or not. If he was he would've been ban, so we obviously cant do a thing about it.

He broke the record so just shut up and move on. Everytime someone breaks a record everybody is like "aw he was on drugs it shouldn't count." Jesus people get over it.

When tiger woods break the record for most all time win are you going accussed him of taking performance enhanced drugs? Afterall I've seen a commerical where his pictures of him at age of 21 his arm is smaller then it is at the age of 31. It most certinaly has grown.

Ah well, I'm chime out of this. The man broke the record get over it. I'm just going to be like "I'll be" and move on.

Spoken amost like Barry Bonds wrote it himself.

Yes if Tiger or anyone else at the top is "linked" to roids I'd be all over it. But golf doesn't have nearly as passionate of a following. Baseball is about mom, pop and apple pie. Somethings are almost sacrid(sp?)

If it breaks US laws, then its cheating in my book, and last time I checked, roids are illegal.

If spit balls can be seen by the human eye, then cameras would catch it also, and how many times do we see footage of spitballers now days? Just an observation.

Matt

You reap what you sew.    All those years Barry was an Arse to the media, why should the media give him a break, he was never friendly to very many.

BARRY,BARRY,BARRY  its gonna get broken and whether you nguys like it or not, he will be the homerun king. Until he is found guilty of steroids im still gonna support him. Sure he is a number one pain in the arse, but he is there to win games not make freinds with everyone.

Is that why he is in there to win games? While the SF Giants are 14 games out(at the time of this post)? Id sit his slumping butt and bring up a young kid to give him some big league experience.

Bonds....Has he ever been charged with illegal steroid use?.....Has he ever tested positive? If the answer is no let GO! and for Tiger Woods have you seen him latley? I played golf for a living 1991 thru 1996 rumors then were Beta Blocker , Diazapans, Pain Killers withalot of players....I have two personal friends that won Nike events hooked on pain killers "no fear" so in golf there is a large number of people that elegedly use drugs to help their game. Is it right? I think we all know the anwser. Now Gary Player has accused players of using steroid and to be honest there could be some but again there is no testing in place at this time. But form my understanding on the PGA Tour HGH is huge out there and in other sports the problem with HGH you can't test for it.
