Super User Long Mike Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 It Worked! I hired a Cheyenne Indian Shaman to hex Avid. If Avid wants to get his computer back to normal, he must continue to pee up a rope for the next seven days. Quote
midnight_madness Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Muddy, if you can at all get anymore info, like what he gets when he trys to use his pw, anything, the problem can be very wide at this point, need to narrow it down a little Quote

I've just kept trying. but I have no idea what's going on. I had dell working with me today. Seems like I lost Internet Explorer, so got that back but then lost BassResource.com. I can access at presant on Mozilla, still not on IE, and I have no clue what my password is or how long I'm going to stay logged in. I sent LBH an email, this is really strange, thanks again mudster. Super User burleytog Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 Tried clearing your cookies and temp cache? Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted July 31, 2007 BassResource.com Administrator Posted July 31, 2007 I'm going to guess they "upgraded" your browswer to IE7. If so, it's possible your security levels may be too high. IE7 default security settings are notoriously high. So high, it can block the login cookie set by this forum, so you can't login. To resolve: 1. Go to Tools/Internet options 2. Click the "security" tab 3. Then click "trusted sites" 4. Now set bassresource.com as a trusted site, and "ok" your way out. Should solve it. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 31, 2007 Super User Posted July 31, 2007 Avid, I hate to admit it, but Glenn is right. I had the same problem you did until I contacted him and followed his advice. OK I lied about the Shaman. You no longer have to pee up the rope. Quote

Unlike SOME people.....you know how to treat a brother. Why do you even care about IE? I mean, firefox is SOOO much better. And safer. It is a little better in the virus and spyware protection area than explorer. Quote
justfishin Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Muddy, Why don't you send Avid the " Muddie PC Doctor Tool Repair Kit "? Black electical tape, Duct tape, wire cutters, vise grips, and claw hammer? Quote
Skipper62 Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Instead of allowing every little site you could just simply lower the security setting.. You don't need it set to "fort knox" unless you're going to get stupid and go to sites like www.iwanttonsofviruses.com or something stupid like that. Skip Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Avid, for cryin' out loud, man, get rid of IE7. IE7 has nearly as many 'holes' as IE5/6, swiss cheese. Get Firefox. You'll have more control over your browser, have much better security and has a ton of available add-ons. I stopped using IE years ago when I found over 400 spyware bots & 13 viruses on my system - this while running anti-spyware & anti-virus software. Not one problem since. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Avid- Just got your mail and have replied. I'm home all morning, please call me so I know you are all set,...plus,...it's been awhile. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 AH, I don't know about you guys, but it seems to me AVID HAS MORE THAN COMPUTER PROBLEMS Quote
Guest avid Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Tried clearing your cookies ? Not lately, but I'm looking forward to a major overhaul. FYI - The dell extended warranty service is pretty impressive. The wait times are way down from what they used to be and the skill of the techs (still Indian) is way up. The tech was able to take over control of my computer, it was kind of funny actually. She said to me"I can fix your problem and diagnose and repair any other issues you may have. Would you permit me to do that?" Ummmm gee - -I gotta think about this. So all I do is sit here reading the "Pamela Anderson guide to silicone" while you fix all my computer gliches??? hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. tough decision but I finally "gave my permission" She then took over and though moving very quickly I could see that she uninstalled and reinstalled IE7 (Yes the settings were High) deleted all temp files, ran a diagnositc on windows OS files, Found a glich and fixed my "system restore feature" Optimized the settings for highest browser speed, and a few other things that I wasn't able to pick up on, or cared about. Alls I knows is, the system is running better than it has in over a year. All is good here in Avids Cyberspace. Thanks for all the help. Burley - Thanks for the great straight line. Glenn - As always, you da man. Russ, I'll call ya in a little bit. Muddy, you the best. Long Mike.............. where do keep that funky rope anyway? thanks again. avid. Quote
frogtog Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Long Mike: Looks like Avid shot the hex back at you after that day you had on the lake that you posted about. Quote
