Bassboy15 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 What is Beckhams injury? And will he be able to play? I can't find anything on this Quote
Guest avid Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I think he strained his back from trying to lift all the money they paid him. He missed the first game. He'll be in good form soon i expect. did you see brazil stomp argentina in copa america? Quote
Big T Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Beckam had a sprained ankle I believe, Avid does Brazil still have Rhonaldino, excuse the spelling, playing for them. Big T Quote
Bassboy15 Posted July 27, 2007 Author Posted July 27, 2007 Ya, I watched the game, I honestly don't think they should have played him, we saw him get tackled, and that could have been much worse, o well, think soccers attention will now die down? Quote
Guest avid Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 there is a history for doing things like this. In the early years of the MSL New York, signed Pele and Franz Beckibauer. Even though Pele was in his 40's he would fill the stadium. When he finally retired, Soccer went back to being the Unknown game. DB and his gorgeous spicy wife have re-ignited the flame. It will bring folks to the table fer sure, how long it lasts remains to be seen. PS. Argetina totally choked against Brazil. Yes, Ronaldinho is still on the team as is CaCa. but I think caca was injured and ronaldinho had team obligations. Obviously it doesn't matter. Brazil is so deep with talent,, that they could field a world cup contender from the bench. Quote
squid Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 OK...big USA football fan here...lol.... : You can't talk about soccer and use the word tackle..lol...IN MY MIND..lol..it doesn't fit. They are paying him a lot of money to play 6 minutes. I don't make that much in a week...lol Quote

That there is down right funny, and I don't care who you are. Soccer tackles are more violent than football. Andbody care to volunteer to prove that theory. One tackles legs with shin guards, the other (real football) tries to knock your head off. LMAO, thats just funny stuff there. Matt Quote
Guest avid Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Nobody loves soccer more than I do, but a hit from a 260 lber with NFL speed is something most normal people would never recover from. but anyone who thinks soccer is a sissy game is............well lets say.......ignorant of the facts. It is a high speed, non stop battle of attrition. Remember, soccer is the #1 sport in the world. The very best athletes from countries like brazil, england, argentina, italy, sweeden, germany etc etc etc. are soccer players. These men are fierce competitors who are aggressive and often vicious. It may not be YOUR game, but it is a great game. Quote
Bassboy15 Posted July 28, 2007 Author Posted July 28, 2007 Nobody loves soccer more than I do This may be true, but i'm close behind you, my dad just ordered FSC and I LOVE it, soccer 24/7, its great. I'm a HUGE priemership team...Who's your favorite priemier team? Quote
Big T Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I love football but I would say that soccer players are more atheletic than football palyers. In football you are only on the field for short periods and you have a chance to catch you breath after every down. However in soccer you have two 45 minute periods and it is total no stop action, you have to have great strength and endurance to play, especially in the extreme heat. Big T Quote

Big T Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 Strength wise football players have the edge, but soccer players have more endurance. Example, a soccer player is not going to move a three hundred pound lineman. Likewise that smae lineman is not going to be able to continuosly run up and down a soccer field for a solid 45 minute period, like in a soccer match. Like I said I love football but I thingk soccer players may have an edge in edurance conditioning. Big T Quote
Guest avid Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Football players are not created equally. There is no way you can compare the physical attributes required of an offensive lineman with that of a safety. Yet while soccer players also have differences. For example defense players tend to be bigger. There is no position in soccer that cannot score. It is not uncommon to see the sweeper (plays just in front of the goalie) pass, dribble, and sprint his way forward to score a goal. there are 3 substitutions allowed in a soccer game. nobody gets taken out and goes back in. If you have used your 3 subs and a player gets injured then you play a man down. there are no time outs. That why they use the stretcher. to us Americans, it looks ridiculous to see a guy go down writhing in pain and a stretcher comes out and carries him off the field. That's so they can't use bogus injuries to gain rest time. It is a game that is totally analagous to war. you battle continuously. You probe your enemies weakness and then strike. Unlike American games who love high scores, soccer like war, is about decisive plays (battles) You don't get to "huddle" after every play to decide what to do next. You make decisions on the battlefield and execute them with skill and speed and courage, or risk "counter attack" which as you military types know is an excellent and effective strategy. In soccer it often wins games. Italy is famous for wearing down teams with rock solid defense. The are impenetrable. When the attacking team makes a mistake, They pounce with lightning couter strikes. It is why they are the world cup champions. My favorite "EPL" team is Arsenal. but ya gotta love Man U. and of course Chelsea. I have friends in Liverpool, so I always root for them. I think Barcelona, REal Madrid, and Biern Munich, are great teams to watch. but my heart like with you is in the epl. Maybe Mr. b. can change that. US soccer has a long way to go. but bringing him in is a great start. Quote
Bassboy15 Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 My favorite "EPL" team is Arsenal. Ya MAN! ARSENAL FOR LIFE!!!! Glad to see another arsenal fan on here, but how can you like Chelsea to :S Quote
Guest avid Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 It is the "beautiful game" my friend. How you watch Drogba score an impossible goal and not admire the skill? Quote
Bassboy15 Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 ....I can say he is a great player, but I cant support Chelsea after being an Arsenal fan, I will watch them though. How long till the EPL is starting up? I keep thinking like a month or so. Quote
Guest ncbass24 Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Chelsea all the way. Ballack, Cech, Lampard, Shevchenko, Terry, you gotta love em. Quote

squid Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 I will admit, I have always enjoyed watching soccer...indoor was my favorite to watch. San Diego had the best team for the longest time. Indoor is very fast paced...kinda like indoor footbal...LOVE EM. BIG T...if your gonna compare something to soccer...rugby would be a closer game...for the atheleticsm(sp?)..those two are close. I do like the way Avid is so passionate about soccer...look how he described in detail.. Quote
Bassboy15 Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 I've never watched indoor soccer, i heard that they can like check them like hockey, is this true? Quote
