I'm vent a little, I'm 17 years old and work part-time at k-mart. I usually works in stock and stuff. Before K-mart I worked as a merchandiser for flowers, but I had get k-mart job for when school start back because of I couldn't work at flowers while in school.

Anyway, I was working register today I had 5 people to ask me what price are as I scan them to make sure it still cheap. Folks nothing is miss priced at my k-mart. One guy came to register gave me 2 cans of intake cleaner or something that cleans up engine you just spray into it and stuff and it rung up 14.92 or something like that and he said "your crazy", and just walk out of the store. They are priced at 6.98 a piece plus tax. For god sake read the price and just buy one.

Then another old lady bought a two box of shoes and only one was on clearence because it was last size we had and other wasn't and she got mad and was like both are suppose be on clearence. Then she walked out.

Stupid people.

So morale of my post READ THE PRICE BEFORE YOU COME TO REGISTER!!! If not, I will slap with you the price sticker!!

There are a great many stores out there where prices are either not displayed or merchandise is in the wrong location.

I haven't been in a KMart forever, but my most recent visits consisted of sorting through a ton of misplaced merchandise just to find what I was looking for.

god i hope your paying attention in english and writing classes while your at school.    or you could be at k-mart a long time :)

Cajun, that's why I posted the rolling eyes. Kwchannel has a real flair for butchering the English language.  The odd thing is that a simple spell checker will not catch any of the atrocities.

Nah, I can count and do math so I'll be good in good shape as a Financial advisor. Dont need to learn grammar there, just numbers. ;)

Yeah, you're exactly right.  Don't pay any attention to grammer, and just learn numbers.  As someone who works in the financial industry, you really don't spend 90% of your time in communication with co-workers, brokers, clients, traders, etc.  I interview a hundred smart guys like you every year who come in any give me this line about "well I'm really good with math and numbers."   I don't care if you have Rain Man's math skills, if you can't communicate intelligently, you're a waste of my time.

I is weally weally good at them ole' number thangs too and I is want'n to be one of dem ole' engineer jobbers too?  yall dont fink me nedes to learn dat english subject do ya.  mefinks maf is a good subject.

Alright, to be honest with ya, I have two possibilities that would be my optimal future careers.  And, I am real good in almost all my studies.  I exceed in everything in my standardized tests, and my 8th grade GPA was all 4.0 and up.

I like math better, but equally exceed in English, and am real good at it.  But, when spending time online, I don't go to the trouble to make really good marks.  I try to get in many posts, as I am a member of seven forums, and don't have the time to determine how I should best word my post.  I just throw it out there, and hope I didn't have too many type-Os.  I have to agree with kwchannell on this one.

To be 100% honest with ya, my experiences with K-mart is the stuff is not always stacked up orderly, and many price labels are missing.  I ain't sure about yours, but in ours, they are just plain lazy in marking them, or should I say not marking them.  And, the dam price scanners have disappeared too.  WTH?

Why wouldn't you use this as an opportunity to practice making your points clear and precise, and to make your grammer/typing/english even better?  Use your hobbies as a opportunity to learn something and improve yourself.  If you use the forums as an opportunity to quickly put your thoughts together in a clear and precise manner, imagine how good you could become at doing job interviews.  If you develop bad habits when you are just "having fun" they will creep into the time when you are being serious.  Developing good habits, even during leisure, makes them come to you easier when you need them to (i.e. tests, homework, jobs, etc.)

Hawgin is correct

The future of our youth, like I tell my kids

If you have no work ethics, just plain lazy about it and admit about it, then we see your grammer and you say you don't have time-when you put it all together,-- well are you able to finish what I'm telling ya?

That would be all fine and dandy except for my experience at Kmart is

Understaffing: No one to ask what the price is

Shelves in dissaray; you do not know if the price in front of an item is for that product

Frequently THERE IS NO PRICE

Those customer scanners(when they do have them) are frequently broken

beside last I knew , Part of your job as a cashier is price verification; It's called customer relations!

Let another Investment Adviser give you a little....Advisers and Accountants alike very seldom do any math long hand since the invention of the calculator and computer. No algebra  and geometry involved here. What we do is take someone through the financial planning process from A-Z. If a person cannot fully understand our intent and direction, that person will not proceed with the plan. Less than 30% of people who come into this profession make it past three years. Any successful Adviser has the ability to speak clearly, intelligently, and hold the attention of their client. Poor communication will land you in arbitration because the content was slurred. I am not new to this profession. I have finished  in the top 10 among advisers annually more often than not with one of the largest financial giants worldwide.

I am not trying to run you off from this field, but math alone does not cut it! Try English, Grammar, and Speach classes. Then Sociology and Pyschology classes to better understand who is setting across from you. I was also an instructor of a class pertaining to "Deception Detection" which gives key signs to let you know when someone is being untruthful. Good luck...and I hope you dislike KMart enough to better yourself upon graduation.

I have the opportunity several times a year to bus kids back and forth for a week- the Little rascals ;) We have camp outs, fishing and theme parks outings. funny thing is the DS kids give you no trouble but, the ones considered "IQ level" "normal" they say ::) give ya heck, ya gotta stay on your toes, but really you gotta have love for'em. its for them ;)

I see kwchannell89 alot in the kids, if only more adults would take time with them, I'm not saying kwchannell89 has this issue but, alot of these kids have no father figure in their lives. Not much of wanting to try in them. ya gotta guide them.

It's kids like the OP that really give me hope for the future.  When all the "Boomers" retire, there will be such a shortage of quality employees in this country that I'm bound to stumble into success.  Keep thinking like this and encourage all your friends to do the same.  I can't wait for the windfall that awaits those of us who have a good work ethic and communication skills.  Rock on, Dude!

We don't go to K-Mart in Richmond as they are located in geographical areas that we just don't venture, if you know what I mean.  It is not safe, even in the daylight hours.

We go to Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart service is usually poor during the day.

So what do I do?  I go at 5:30 AM on Saturday mornings and the staff is so helpful it is downright embarrassing.  They will actually take you to the location where the items you are seeking can be found.

One time I asked a Wal-Mart associate (lady) for help when I was looking for Moth Balls to sprinkle around the house to chase the copperheads away.

The lady had never heard of Moth Balls so I told her that it was the only part of the moth that you could eat.

I left her standing in the asile with this puzzled look on her face.

I thought it was funny! ;D
