flyphisher # Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 ABAC Golden stallions - longest non-losing streak in college non-football history - STILL UNDEFEATED University of GA alumni ..after 5 years living in athens i agree with the t-shirts...... "drinking town with a football problem" 5 years of schoolin A-town and 10 years having season tickets I have taken a little break from games/hanging out in A-town. Liver/brain needs to recoop. Quote
jb_from_texas Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Dang Matt I just realized we spent 8 hours fishing & not once did we talk football I like watching 1-A or 1-AA as long as it's not one sided; one of the best games of last year was Boise State vs. Oklahoma Since you had the back of the boat, and a good look at my motor, I was sure you'd have commented on football. Team Hookem!!!!! I havent' even looked at UT's schedule this year, I know we travel to Ohio State early this year. So our season could start the way it did last season with early loss. I knew with the loss of Vince and others, beating OSU, even at home would be tall order. I get to see if our sophmore QB is seasoned enough to make UT contender, not too mention that our secondary was SWISS CHEESE last year. Once teams learned they could pass on Texas, they did, and very often. NFL Hall of Fame Game is less than a month away, so that mean NCAAF isn't far away either. Can't wait!!!!!! NCAAF is one of the puriest games played. Hookem Matt. Hey Matt, no OSU this year.Matter of fact, the schedule is not that strong. We will need to run the table to even sniff a title game. I was born and raised in Texas but now live in Central Florida. Texas comes to Orlando to play UCF at their new stadium. I'm trying to get tix but UCF is NOT selling single game tickets to the Texas game. All others you can buy a single game tix. I did some searching and the cheapest ticket is $200 (ticket houses), and they are sorry seats. Man this is killing me. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted July 16, 2007 Super User Posted July 16, 2007 Only 46 more days till the Horns take the field. Can't wait for the NCAAF season to get started. LSU kicks of Aug. 30 on ESPN against MISS. St. matt Quote
FlyRod Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 mine bigger Kinda scary huh? That's...sniff...the most beautiful sight I've ever seen. And a Very Boomer Sooner to you all. FR Quote
FlyRod Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Y'all here the latest about University of Oklahoma Oklahoma must also vacate the eight victories it gained in the 2005 season and cannot recognize those wins in record books, media guides or in anything else chronicling OU's football history. Yeah, and the eight losers know darned well who won. Ya' can't erase that. Bomar and Quinn were idiots whose parents and coaches, pre-OU, told them their excretia smelled like roses. Stoops and Co. did the best they could when they found out what was going on. Compare their actions to those at other schools. The whole system is flawed. Seeking commitments from high school juniors, allowing kids to turn pro before their class graduates, and meddling alumni/boosters/gamblers/agents. To the NCAA; USC's Reggie Bush? Why is Notre Dame exempt from scrutiny? (See: Seperation of Church and State.) Then there's something I'm hearing re OSU (The Buckeyes, not Okie Lite.) OU is one MNC away from tieing ND for the most championships. (Disregard Alabama's claims of more MNCs than there have been years of college football.) BTW. Note: No hostility 'tween us and the Tide. Y'see, they love what we've done to Fran since he left Tuscaloosa. Can you say "77-0"? Can it be that the NCAA and the Eastern Establishment press are determined to see that ND is never overtaken? I have news for them. ND WILL be overtaken and OU will likely be the program to do it. OU, since '46...Most total wins; Highest winning percentage; Most weeks ranked in Top Five; Most weeks ranked #1. You know you are a dynasty when your losses make bigger news than your victories. All that notwithstanding, be it known that if God came to me and said "If you are a good lad I'll see that OU wins every game, forever." I'd respectfully decline. I accept losses to worthy opponents and enjoy victories over same. If I knew OU would never lose another game, well, what would be the point of watching? Besides, that "good lad" part might be an obstacle ;D Favorite Teams? OU, Texas A&M, Any Service Academy but Army first, Rutgers, (Yes, even Boise State...they'd best enjoy it while they can, though.) And...Douglas MacArthur HS, San Antonio TX, Hondo TX, Leesville LA. I'm not given to "hating" other teams, but if I were? Well, lemme see. USC, ND, The University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople, The University of Northern South Dakota at Carp City, Judson HS, San Antonio. FR Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted July 20, 2007 Super User Posted July 20, 2007 42 days and a wake up. Are you ready for some college football? On paper this year, whos got the goods? I really haven't looked at who left college early, the recruiting classes coming in. My early scouting report for the Horns with out too much research. The horns lost alot on secondary that got alot of recognition, why I didn't know. The stopped the run all year and teams realized that you could throw on Texas all season. So any improvement there is already a plus. We have speed on Offense and Colt McCoy is no longer a freshman, we will see if he has sophmore slump or ready to Texas to the next level again. We recruited talent on both sides of the line, and have some experience coming back. Same dogs in the fight for the South title. A&M will be more dangerous this year with 3 rd year QB McGhee. Tough Kid, he's gonna win some games, its in his blood. I hated saying that, but give him his respect, he's earned that since Jr high!!! Ya'lll Hookem and have a good weekend. Matt Quote

Bean Counter Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 I don't know if rival.com has ever been in Florida but they have the gator, noles, & cains that put any rivalry to shame, they are not allowed near each other except during game time. I grew up in Florida and like you I thought Florida rivalries were the most intense. That was before I spent a year in Alabama. I had never seen that kind of real hate of another team before. The Florida Schools' rivalries aren't even close. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 28, 2007 Super User Posted July 28, 2007 Over at rivals.com #1 USC #2 West Virginia #3 LSU #4 Michigan #5 Florida #6 Texas #7 Louisville #8 Wisconsin #9 Oklahoma #10 Ohio State Quote
