Guest avid Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Hey guys, don't leave me hangin alright? Everytime I post a soccer thread, I get very very lonely. But tomorrow, Sunday at 5pm EST. is the finals of Copa America. It's on Gol tV, which some of you may get. If you do. WATCH THIS GAME You will see Argentina Vs. Brazil and will understand why they call it "the beautiful game." Brazil is playing without it's superstar play maker Ronaldinho, but they are such a deep team, they could field a team of world cup contenders from the bench. Argentina has been playing amazing futbol recently. If you ever "thought" you might wanna give soccer a try. Like I'm trying to do with Nascar, then this is the game to watch. I'm picking Argentina, but in the end I really don't care. It's going to be such a great game. PS> for those of you who are female or gay. David Beckham, the very handsome British superstar is now playing for the L.A. Galaxy, so you could also check that out. they play some games on ESPN or ESPN2. By the way, for those of you who are not female or gay, David is married the former british pop star "posh spice" of the spice girls. The spice girls are getting back together for a reunion tour. If you like em skinny and drop dead gorgeous, Victoria is for you. All this eye candy and talented as well Don't say I didn't tell ya'. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted July 15, 2007 Super User Posted July 15, 2007 Avid you and I have a lot in common, but "futball" isn't one of them. I lived in the U.K. back in the days when only three channels were available (early 1970's). I got so sick and tired of having "football" shoved down my throat that I haven't watched a game since, and never will. I'd rather watch grass grow. Quote
Guest avid Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Well Long Mike, first off let me warmly thank you for your reply. The content sucks of course, but at least someone will talk to me about it. ;D What city did you live in. The English Premiere League is awesome. Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United et al. Oh and I understand the grass growing on those fields is very exciting too. Your a cool old coot LM. I know one when I see one. Just ask Muddy. I spoke to him and as usual will have some good stories to tell ciao. avid Quote
BoroBass Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Never woulda guess you were a (real) football fan, avid. "The beautiful game" is probably my number one passion in life, followed by American football and bass fishing. ;D I've been supporting Manchester United for 13 years now (I'm only 20). Quote
bassbob08 Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Sorry Avid im just not into the game, but if I watched it and understood it I would talk about it with you.Bob go team Quote
Big T Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 I am not really a soccer fan, but I did watch alot of the World Cup last year when I was laid up with my back injury and following surgery. I of course rooted for the USA, but I did enjoy following the English team and as always I love to watch the Brazilians play, with Ronaldinio. I not sure if that is the correct spelling but I sure Avid knows who I am talking about. Big T Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted July 16, 2007 Super User Posted July 16, 2007 Avid, I lived in Great Yarmouth, England back in those days. That's where my youngest daughter was born. I lived overseas for eleven years, so I know how important sucker, sorry, I meant to say soccer, is to everyone in the world outside of the good ole U.S. of A. I guess I got sick of sucker, er, soccer after all those years, having no opportunity to watch any other sport until I came home on vacation each year. On a side note, I am firmly of the opinion that REAL football overseas is called Rugby. Now, THAT is a kick azz and take names game! Quote

I'm just making fun, soccer is huge and for good reason, they are truly athletes. I'm with Mike though,....Rugby, now there's something to drink about. Quote
