Spnrbait_ Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I am going to buy a new pair of glasses. I wanted some opinoins on what everyone likes and why. I am leaning toward Solar Bats w/ Mossback green lenses. Thanx Quote
Fish Man Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 natives!!! they are priced well, they are all polarized, they look good, and they are durable.ive dropped, rubbed them against many harmful things, limbs, metal etc and they are still in like new condition Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I have a pair of natives and I love 'em! Great visibility even in "flat" light. I use them for fishing even though I originally bought them for skiing. The only complaint I have is the way they fols up. The ear guard folds up to the lens and leaves a little grease mark every time, which means I have to clean the lenses every time I wear them. Otherwise, worth every dollar (around $80 or so...) Quote
Super User Root beer Posted June 26, 2007 Super User Posted June 26, 2007 I got a Costa Del mar fathom in green mirror lens off ebay for 100.00. I'll never buy another brand again!!!! Not to mention they have lifetime warranty and one of best customer service in business. ;D Quote

Bassassasin12 Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 oakley polarized minutes are what I use, they look real good on the lake and off 8-) Quote
gopherbass Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I had trouble with hinge durability on Native's interchangeable earpieces. Fortunately I bought some Costas. With the exception of weight, I find them vastly superior to any brand I have owned. Quote
flyphisher # Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Survival Optics sunglasses(google it) (sos) are what i have been wearing for a few years. Check out there dive series, about half of what other high grade glasses cost yet same components, plus the company is in florida. I have had Oakley, ray-bans, costas, and a few others and I keep buying the SOS's. They dont have any with glass lenses, though. Quote
J_Young Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 I've had a pair of Oakley Half Jackets for a while now. "Chrome" mirrored faced polarized lenses. They are made to the specs of most safety goggles so they are extra tough. They've been kicked, stepped on, dropped, thrown, sat on. And they still look brand new. I love them. Almost lost them last week though, I forgot I had them on my cap and I slung my cap off chasing a horse fly. They flew out about 7 foot away from the boat and started sinking fast. Luckily I was able to reel my lure in, hook them with the treble and pull them back in. The wife would have killed me since they were a Christmas gift from her :-X Quote
C.K Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I used to have some oakley's until an ex broke them, now I fish solely with Wal-Mart polarized sunglasses. For the money, you can't go wrong. Quote
Spnrbait_ Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Seems like a lot of you guys like the Natives. Do they fit well? Slip down your nose when you sweat? Are they light? Quote

Yes, they are light, and I don't find them to move on my face even when I'm cannon balling down a black diamond. Good pair of specs! Quote
blf Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 I know a lot of people buy inexpensive sunglasses because we lose them, break them or have someone else remove them from the truck/boat without our knowing. A cheap pair of glasses can do serious damage to your eyes. They may protect them from UV rays but the optics will be sooo bad that you may find yourself needing regular glasses sooner than expected. A couple of guys mentioned Costa Del Mar which is what I use. If you spend a little extra to get the 580 lens, the weight will be much lighter than their other glass lens. They also have amazing clarity and are endorsed by lots of optometrist. Anyway, optics should play as big of a part in decision to buy as polarization, UV protection and overall weight. 8-) Quote
