Red Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 the "day job" thread made me think of this for some reason...tell us about your furry/slimy/scaley friends that we all love so much...feel free to include a picture or funny story about them these are my cats...emmy and delilah...emmy we got from a lady and delilah was adpoted from the shelter....now....we were told emmy was a girl cat...hence the name...and when cats are small and furry like this one it is really hard to tell....anyway the first trip to the vet we found out emmy, was in fact a boy! how embarassing....so now we have a boy cat named emmy...we tell everyone now that it is short for emerson or emmit...lol ;D emmy me and delilah emmy having a drink Cliff Quote
cpvenom Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 I have a few pets, my youngest is my 2 1/2 year old chocolate lab, Moose. He is a great dog. At 2 years old he still has that puppy mentality and seeing 75 lbs of bouncing brown dog always gets me laughing. I also have 2 cats, Pogo and Tiger who are brothers. At about 20lbs each, they are each very large kitties. They are 10 years old, and have since adjusted to Moose's reign of the house. While they used to stay on counters and above Moose, they now feel safe sleeping next to him. I also have a small turtle I caught fishing in 2nd grade, and our oldest pet, a cockatiel (a bird) who is 27! Quote
Super User Root beer Posted June 22, 2007 Super User Posted June 22, 2007 My boy, I love him to death. He a little bass turd sometimes, but I still love him. He likes to sleep with his tongue out. . I have pic of it also. He 1 year old right now. Quote
Troutfisher Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 The dog on the left, the brown one, is Daisy, and the black one on the right is Lilly. Personally, I would have named them Brownie and Blacky, but my mom wanted a feminine touch... : Quote
Mobydick Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 I dont have any pics, but I have a 7 1/2 year old beagle. Her name is Abby. She has chased rabbits scince she was able to run. She also snores very loudly. I also have a 7 year old black and white cat, of wich my dad calls S***head, you know the word. He calls him that because he will come in one door and want back out another door in less than a minute, and he sleeps on top of the truck. Quote
timistall Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Cookie and Maggie, both Goldens. They are ball chasing fools. Had to buy a hyperdog slingshot to save my arm. Quote
timistall Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Here is Shove, he passed away a month ago. He was a Maine Coon (30lbs.) Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted June 22, 2007 Super User Posted June 22, 2007 They are ball chasing fools. Had to buy a hyperdog slingshot to save my arm. I hear that. True story about my dog, Deuce ....... Late November my grandpa comes to town for Thanksgiving. Deuce greets him with his ball like he does everyone hoping that someone will throw it for him. My grandpa throws it and I tell him he could chase that ball all day long. He would do until death. My grandpa then makes it his mission that Thanksgiving to "wear him out". Mid December my grandpa has rotator cuff surgery to repair his shoulder. ;D ;D ;D Only thing he might like to do a tad better than chasing a ball is swimming. Here is a video I made last summer (got a new camera and wanted to play with it) ..... http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y79/dtjo22/?action=view¤t=DeuceSwimming.flv He is truly the best dog you could ask for. Not a mean bone in his body, GREAT with kids, very easy to teach, pretty laid back, always aims to please, and just an all around great dog. I couldn't have asked for a better one. Playing ball, rain, snow, or sunshine Quote
timistall Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 The girls birthday party...w/doggie cupcakes. Quote
Guest hibachi Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 This is Wrigley, he is 18 months old (in human years), wearing my t-shirt. He's named after Wrigley Field. Someone asked me if he was named after the chewing gum or the field. I said, "I guess both, since the field is named for the gum's creator." Wrigley is a chocolate lab. His favorite thing to do is to swim at the lake. He sleeps in bed with my daughter every night, and his favorite food is chicken. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted June 22, 2007 Super User Posted June 22, 2007 This is Kimi (dog) and Buster (cat). Buster came from the Humane Society, it's my sons. Kimi was a rescue dog. She's a pure bred Shih Tzu that was a breeder dog that had outlived her usefulness. Her teeth were in such bad shape they had to pull all of them except about 4 in the back of her mouth, breaking her jaw in the process. She's a very docile dog but you can tell she's not had quality human interaction over the years. We're guessing she's easily over 10 years old. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Coming from a poor inner city family these were the only pets we could afford. mattm Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Cool post. Wish I had some pictures with me to show you guys. We have a white collie(whites are the rarest) and a blak lab. I took the lab from an elderly lady, whose place I was dove hunting on, that had her dumped on her, and didn't think she could take care of it. The lab was in real bad shape and required a lot of immediate medical attention. Charcoal(the lab) has paid me back by digging holes all in my yard that I do my best to keep looking like a golf course. My wife loves her though. Gus is the collies name. We named him after Gus from Lonesome Dove and wanted to name the lab Deets, but the lady we got her from had already named her, so we kept it. Quote
Big T Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 I have three Labs, 1 of which is a Chocolate male named Jasper. He turned two years old in March. My other two Labs are black Females, the oldest is Belle, she turns two in October. Her and my male mated a little earlier than my wife and I had hoped so they had a litter of pups in November. One of those pups I kept for myself, her name is Alleigh. Not brag too much but these dogs are the smartest animals I have ever seen. We had to put child locks on the China Cabinet because they figured out how to open the doors and get my snacks fo work out. Plus I have a habit of leaving snacks in my lunch box which they destroy getting into after the snacks. So far in two years they have gone through 6 soft sided lunch boxes and I am on the 4th little igloo cooler since November when I went back to work after back surgery. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Hey Razor, I have rescued 2eastern Box turtles so far. They were building a golf course and one day after clearing a bunch of land, I found the first one. she was both gravid and injured. Looked like a blade of some sort got her in the leg. I took her to the vet on my route and she gave her an antibiotic and cleaned the wound. She advised that I reease her where I found her as they are very territorial and remember where they get their food. Transplanting them , she advised, is not the best idea. I took her home, she healed up and we released her. I noticed yours are in an outdoor pen, something I cannot do here in an apartment. If I should find another in trouble, would you be willing to raise it? I've just had terrible feelings that the girl didn't make it as her previous habitat is all but gone due to development PS- She laid her eggs on my floor one night, I gathered and incubated them according to online instructions but it would appear they were not fertile (Many were dented and they eventually shriveled or rotted) She loved her water bowl!!
