Guest the_muddy_man Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Well the chick magnet, my 1993 puke/green duster bit the bullet at 200,000 plus miles!!!!!! I am gonna miss that car! I picked up a 1993 (something about that year from me) 4 cyl/5speed S-10 its blue/grey has a clean body and bed and 119,000 miles on it. I got it for a Grand I put 4 new tires , a tune up( still needs a little work in that area) and complete exhasut for 640 bucks. I am on the road again! Question: I want to transport my Rods,Tackle, Battery and trolling w motor in the bed, without breaking down the rods. What is the best way to secure the battery and trolling motor so they don't move and crush the rods? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 21, 2007 Super User Posted June 21, 2007 A ratchet strap across the back of the bed. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Thanks Burley? 2 questions How to attach it? The back of the Bed, is that the end near the tail gate, because there is a liner and nothing to attach the strap to? Thanks Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 21, 2007 Super User Posted June 21, 2007 No tie-down hooks or attachment points? On the bed liner, is there a slot in the sides for a 2x6 or 2x8? If so, that is also a good solution. Put the battery and motor in the 'pocket' created by the board. You might want to get some non-skid drawer liner to put under the battery so it doesn't slide around on the slick bed liner. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted June 22, 2007 Posted June 22, 2007 Thanks I was also thinking of a board between the back of the cab abd across the whell wells But my two 7 foot rods ill still be in "THE SLIDE ZONE" I think a combo of the board and the no stick(GREAT IDEA) is the way to go POSIBBLY a PVC pipe to slide the rods in and out of Quote
Super User burleytog Posted June 22, 2007 Super User Posted June 22, 2007 Just think outside the box... The front would be fine, but it is much easier to load a battery into the back than into the front. One thing you could do is put down two boards across the bed, then a sheet of plywood over those boards. Rods and other things go on top of the plywood, battery & motor below. Could even cut the plywood, attach hinges, and have a custom cargo system. Quote
