while cleaning the house w/my two kids, one of our 8 kittens (anybody in SC want one?) got a crappie hook in his lip!  the kids were crying, i couldn't find my wire cutters, had to call the wife at work and have her come home with a pair from work.  she got home and we cut the hook then extracted it and the kitten is no worse for wear other than a sore lip.  whew!  btw, the cat was actually fairly cool about it once i had him in my hand.  no squalling or spastic behavior, which was good for me.  and the best part...i am my kids hero again!

I used to take my dog fishing, but I tired of having to keep only one rod at a time out of the box.  He jumped around so much and got so excited when I caught a fish I knew it was just a matter of time before this happened to him.

Ugh.

I have a cat, a very small place and LOTS of fishing gear. This is one of my worst fears. So far so good.

DITTO!!

Russ, What kind of cat?

OK, now let's start from the beginning

Catfish are really fish.

Catfishing is like bass fishing in that you put your hook in WATER.

Catching cats is NOT catfishing.

I hope this will avoid future confusion  ::)

J/K   Glad to hear the little dudes ok,

hope the kids werent' too freaked.

Razyr,I had that happen a few years ago with a full grown cat.She got ahold of a Rogue floater and had treble hooks through the gum, lip, and front paw.It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.Like you said, when I got through the cat was no worse for wear.

I don't know what the problem is. Leave the hook in the cat and toss it into the lake (tied to your pole of course.) Who knows, those lunkers might be looking for a little cat. ;D
