Blue Streak Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I did a search for this and could not find the answer. I know these are supposed to be fished on a weighted hook. But has anyone used these long enough to determine what hook size works best? Quote
guitarkid Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 My guess would be 4/0 or 3/0. Do not quote me on it, This is just me guess. -searoach Quote
Blue Streak Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Thanks for the reply. I agree that the 5 inch bait looks like it needs a 4/0 or 5/0. Are you having any success with these baits? Quote
Super User David P Posted May 2, 2008 Super User Posted May 2, 2008 5inch - 5/0 6inch - 6/0 or 7/0 6 1/2 + - 10/0 Quote
RichardE Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 The 5/0 hook with a 1/4 oz works well. That size weight helps the bait swim properly. We use a hook made by William Davis (the creator of the Shaky Head) called the XWire, a quality product. This hook comes with a keeper which prevents the hole caused by pushing the weight through. I add a drop of glue when I place the keeper into the bait and it's there to stay. I have been pretty pleased with these baits so far. It is a little hard to hold back though when they inhale it. ;D Quote
