Super User Alpster Posted May 24, 2007 Super User Posted May 24, 2007 Wouldn't it be refreshing to see some new posts about - braided Line, expensive equipment, frog baits, worm hooks, best rods, best reels, "Ugly Sticks", Senko imitations, or everyone's favorite, spinning vs. baitcasting??? Sorry! I couldn't resist and besides, Muddy started it! ;D Ronnie Quote

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Everyone has to start somewhere. If they haven't been here for 2 yrs, they don't know it's a dead horse To many, the stuff is very new, they are just trying to learn, let's encourage questions and not make folks feel like they should know this stuff. It's why we are here. Quote

Fisher of Men Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 How about a "VETERAN's VENT" section where those 2+ year guys can fume about the newbies? : Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 24, 2007 Super User Posted May 24, 2007 I find I have burned out on a number of thread subjects that we have. However, like LBH says, we have so many new members that these subjects aren't old to them. I find myself not wanting to post on these worn out subjects, but if all of the people who have been here for awhile stopped posting the informative nature of the forum would suffer. Quote
Red Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 well i have seen some of the mods and other members direct new members to a thread that already exists on the particular topic....that seems to be the best route Cliff Quote
Deb Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Guys, as a "newbie" I'm sorry if I/we seem redundant or boring. It's really not our intention. Although I've been fishing for several years, I'm learning on a daily basis thank's to you "old timers". Please don't give up on us. I enjoy reading lots of the forums and articules included on this GREAT site! Even some I didn't think I'd really be interested in at the start. Please don't give up on us. I'm so thankful someone took the time to instill a love of the water, an enjoyment of fishing (bass in particular), and a thirst for knowledge! Also a huge THANKS to my son, westpalmdude for putting me onto this site! deb Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 THIS WAS A JOKE JUST A SILLY JOKE I am sorry I freakin started it at all. This was a joke based on something a member usually says when they see this thread, and then go onto contribute anyway, AS DO ALL OF US> I am particularly aware of newbees and search down threads, sources and even pictures to help them, When Russ posted about the newbee's I was up and stil at work Icalled him and said I saw his post maybe it would be necesssary to delete the thread. He said he just just making sure the newbees felt OK I said fine , If I made a newbee uncomfortable I AM TRUELY SORRY TO THE REST OF YOU IT WAS A JOKE Quote
Gotta Love It Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 I'm tired of all those Cali guys posting HAWG pics!!! Seriously, even if the question has been asked a thousand times and beat to death, that newbie came here for guidance! It seems that most of the guys who posted in this thread (even though it was a joke) are the ones who answer the dead horse questions. That is why this is the best site on the net! Quote
PaparockArk Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Hey Papa PM me if those hats are available, I know just who to wear it around to break em Muddy, PM on the way! Quote
skillet Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 This is the first message board of any kind I've ever joined. IMHO: It seems the computer must be the worst form of communication ever developed when it comes to anything but black and white, yes and no type of ideas. Without facial expressions or voice inflections a lot of things come across, at best, dead flat. Jokes and humor can come across as condecending or even mean. That's really too bad because those 2 things help make us human or almost human anyway ... As Ever, skillet Quote

Also a huge THANKS to my son, westpalmdude for putting me onto this site! deb Deb, It becomes apparent after awhile that some of us old guys have a hard time entertaining ourselves. Muddy_man and I have developed a little history and are friends. We both have a tendency to act a little silly. It's all in fun and we love BassResource.com as much as anyone. I just forget sometimes when we are joking among ourselves that this is a internet message board, and everyone who has a computer can read it, DOOHHH? Sorry if I made light of anyone who participates here. That was not the intention. BTW-I always enjoy your posts and stories. THANKS! Ronnie Quote
Deb Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 No worries! I certainly took no offense. I was just trying to relay my sincere thanks to all you guys! You have truly helped me. No only in fishing but in filling in some tough times! Fishing is my "escape" from the realities of life. The stressors and when I can't be out there, you guys help trememdously!!! I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of such a great bunch of people! I just hope you don't get too tired of my pics and posts! deb Quote
