Bream Master Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Watched my first live baseball game Monday at the expense of the place I was doing my internship at. We have a minor league team called the Grasshoppers. Guys, it's a dangerous sport to observe, I'll tell you what. We were seated at the VIP area and it seemed like the perfect spot to get cracked in the nose. We had 6 balls come our way and land just feet behind our table. Foul balls were falling behind home plate and landing on kid's heads and stuff. And the white ball just blends in with the clouds and I couldn't see it coming. They need to make that thing hot pink or blaze orange, one of the two. Next time I go, I'm bringing me a Roman shield for protection. Now I knew drinks and food are expensive at these events but $4 for a bottled water and $7 for a domestic beer! I draw the line there. I'd rather drink sink water from the facets in the bathrooms. You know, the diamond looks a lot smaller in person than it does on TV. I thought they downsized the diamond since it was minor league but someone told me it was MLB size. It looked like a two year old could make it to 1st base in time but I guess I don't know because I don't play baseball. How about some of your experiences? Ever been hit in the head or nose with a fly ball? Cheers! Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 22, 2007 Super User Posted May 22, 2007 One of life's little joys, a baseball game. Sitting back, relaxed, enjoying the game and eating and drinking without a worry in the world. Other than for fishing, it just doesn't get better than this. Glad you had a good time. Quote

I love 1.00 a hot dog night at the Tennessee smokies baseball game. ;D That's the great thing about watching the minors, it more about the fans than anything. There are always promotions and stuff going on to get fans to the game. When I played in the minors they used to put the opposing lineups names in a hat and every inning they would draw a name. If I struck out the batter whose name was drawn, beers were a $1 for the rest of the inning! There was a lot of pressure from the crowd when the beer batter got up! Quote

My girlfriend bought us like 2nd row tickets by the fowl post (we were in comerica park in detroit watching the tigers) and I CAUGHT A FLY BALL ON MY BIRTHDAY! It was on t.v. and i took it right out of gurrero's glove (outfielder for the angels) some of you fans may have seen me on t.v.! Quote
