Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted April 27, 2008 Super User Posted April 27, 2008 I went out to the pond and tried out the super spook jr and the rapala. d**n that spook is big, but since this is my first time ever actually trying to use a topwater correctly, it seemed not to do what I expected. It had a "Z" motion to it. First impression, might be a while before I catch one on this. But when I do, my guess is its gonna be a big one! Your living in Florida where big fish roam.5 lbers are very common.Believe me the spook jr is not too big.I have been amazed on numerous occasions at the dinks I catch on that thing are are maybe 1 inch longer than the lure : I now throw the full size super spook and still catch an occasional 1 lber on it LOL. Bigger looking baits can be intimidating when you are beginning or when you just want numbers.Been there too. When you see so many times the kind of stuff these fish will "try"to cram down their throats those baits dont look so big anymore. Quote
wantmohawgs Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 Some of my own feedback now on the the Rapala F7. Went out about an hour before sundown and the FIRST cast with it, had a bite and reeled in a winner! Maybe 8 inches, lol. Have to be happy with that! Bout an half hour goes by and I get another one, maybe a 1/2 inch bigger. Cant wait to get it to a lake with some bigger bass in it, as this pond has maybe been there for a year. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 You defenitely have to pick up a Devil's Horse especially living in florida. You can pick some up at any Wal-Mart. Get the Silver and Orange one. Quote

bocabasser Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 bagleys bang-o-lure. and a super spook in okie shad. Quote
BirdNestBen Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 I'll give you a couple of ideas and a few are some old school topwaters... 1. Zara Spook- put O rings on and then attach the hooks to the o- rings to catch those that slightly miss the lure.... 2. Billy Bass Lure- is also deadly as a shallow running crankbait.... 3. Powerpack lure- shad and frog... is a funny looking lure- I admit, but really hammers those big bass...... 4. Super Spook Jr. 5. Pop-R and the original Tiny Torpedo However, I don't know if you can put this in the topwater category, but Zoom flukes rigged weightless and 5" Senkos are the best in my opinion...... Quote
