well folks, looks like redlinerobert and myself are about to embark on a partnership aimed at delivering a few key products to the fishing industry.

The name of our company is FISHOUS (trademarked)

Without divulging too many details too soon, there are 2 aspects of the company and they are very different from each other.  One is a clothing line that will surely blow your mind, incorporating Roberts tastes and my ingenuity (the LBH line will also be offered but will not be the "main" focus of the apparel portion of the biz). The other is the development and distribution of a handheld electronic device I designed and own the patent on.

So,...we need a logo.  Keep in mind that the logo will be on clothing.  I have an idea of what I want and Zel has been working away on that for me so I thought we could also put the word out to you folks and get some other ideas.

Any suggestions?  Let's see what you guys can come up with.

(again, logo will be embroidered so "detail" should be kept to a minimum or just not too intricate)

Thanks in advance for all submissions.

LBH, congrats on your new enterprise.

May it be very successful and may Wal-Mart and Bass Pro Shops pick up the line.

Especially Wal-Mart!!!!!

I have no ideas as to a logo but I know the guys will have some wonderful ideas.

And of course, you can always secure the services of an advertising company to create a "catchie" logo that we all will recognize by just seeing it, like the Alligator, FrogTogs, Bass Pro Shops, Strike King, Triton, Ranger, Shimano, etc.

Good luck.

We thought about looking into an Adv. agency but figured we would see what we could come up with first.  Plus, who knows what looks "fishy" better than the BassResource member base? ;)  :)

NO!! I disgree with sam. YOU WILL NOT MAKE MONEY IF YOU GO TO WAL-MART!!!!!

Maybe you should like do a bass expolding out of water with your company name in an arch above it.

Maybe I'll get a t-shirt or something. ;D

Hey Russ.  I am curious. You have been pretty open about money being tight with you and I know  patents are expensive to obtain.  I've looked into myself.  How did you manage to get one?  If this is too personal, just tell me to buzz off.  I just thought maybe there was a trick I am not aware of.  Thanks.

Good luck and Good Fortune to a couple of top shelf fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The whole patent process began when I got the idea back in 2000.  By 2002, I had paid for the patent search and submission processes (appx 2k)  This was the expensive part.  To actually pay for the patent once it is approved is minimal.

Hiring a lawyer to do a thorough search is the big part.  The actual Patent fees aren't too bad.  Roughly 3k invested all together.

The big expense in this game is lawyers.  Enforcing your patent.  Having one is great but lets say someone steals mine, a big company.  They often know that the "little guy" who is the one with the good ideas most often, would not be able to afford to be tied up in court prosecuting the infringing entity.  They COUNT on this as they rob you.  I am well protected but nothing is a sure thing till the $ is in the bank.

There is also another place where big $$ comes into play even before protecting your patent and this is where I previously fell short.  Getting your invention MADE.

Product development companies are not cheap.

Russ briefly explained this product to me the other day and my immediate response was " I want one!"

I think right now only a handful of people know about it, but soon everyone will be wanting one. I believe that with Russ's people skills and contacts in the fishing community, his invention will be a success.

I'm not being biased because he is a friend, I've seen his enthusiasm firsthand!!!

When you hit the big time, don't forget you have a good broker here in Indiana that will be more than happy to help you out. Investment advice is always free while on the water!

I used to do a little graphic design type stuff, I could give a logo a shot.

But I need more information. Is there anything you want incorporated specifically in the logo? Does the name have to be integrated into the logo? Is there anything you want in the logo (a fish, hook, etc.) also, what is the purpose of the device you have designed? it might give me something else to incorporate into the logo.

LBH, Think Big! I am pulling for you guys. I have been involved with a few people with great ideas that had no idea that their brainstorm would take off the way it did . This glass of water has to be half full.

I made a few phone calls a couple of years ago looking for the inventor of a crappie lure called the little skunk. Found this older gentleman in NC. Talked to him on the phone for a long time. Seems he had an idea once about mass producing plastic worms. Guess what? He did it and sold the rights to a little company called Creme!

Congrats on your new endeavors Russ!!

I for one am a gadget guy, and when I first heard about this gadget I had two things come to mind...

1. ...dang, this LBH guys imagination never stops!

2. I WANT ONE!!

When Russ first came up with the idea, I was like,oh d**n,the kids got it this time.  He asked me to help with some of the internal stuff and that's when I really saw the potential.  It's too bad this kind of stuff takes so long.  He's had the idea since like 1999 I think. First all the patent stuff and all the waiting.  Now that it is rolling, it is still creeping.  He has the week off and is pulling his hair out, stuck between stages. You guyz know how he is.........go,go,go,go,go, it's almost funny to watch as his friend but I wish him and his new partner the best of luck.  Couldn't happen for a better guy if it goes.

Go get them Hook, your home crew is behind you 100%

(and of course, I want one when they come out!!)(I think NEED is a better word but you get the point, don't forget me! :) )

ps- are we on for tomorrow?  4am mom and dads?  Hit me on the radio
