largemouthslayer Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I grill all the time anyone have a special way or seasoning they use for steaks. I want something naw to try. Quote
jajafofo Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Marinate it for about an hour in a mix of 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar, then take it out of that and marinate it in dale's or moore's sauce at least overnight. Get some McCormick peppercorn grinder and put it on the steak when you put it on the grill and again when you flip it. The vinegar makes the steak incredibly tender. Quote

Super User .ghoti. Posted May 9, 2007 Super User Posted May 9, 2007 A good steak needs nothing but blazing hot hardwood charcoal, salt and pepper. And, don't over cook it. Quote
Guest hibachi Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Marinade: 2 parts red wine, 1 part water, 2 part dale's, 2 tablespoons olive oil (at least 2 hours) Season: Salt, Black Peppercorn, garlic salt, celery seed, parsley (or you can by seasoning blend, but it usually doesn't have enough black pepper for me) Grill over charcoal. Enjoy! Quote

frogtog Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 2 - 2" thick Ribeye's bring to room temperture. Sprinkel with Adolph's tenderizer ( seasoned with spices / yellow cap bottle ) Take two prong fork and go to town punching holes in it, then sprinkle one more time. Make sure the steak's have plenty of fat around them. Fire the charcoal up I'am talking all of them glowing red. Then put the steaks on and cook 12 minutes on each side. ( just 24 minutes total or you will waste a good piece of meat.) Let me know what you think! 8-) Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 9, 2007 Super User Posted May 9, 2007 Try Zatarin's the original Cajun Seasoning, some good receipts http://www.zatarain.com/products/product.php/67/Seasoning_and_Spices/Creole_Seasoning Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 10, 2007 Super User Posted May 10, 2007 Whit all due respect to you chefs out there, I have to agree with ghotti. On my Weber charcoal grill I build a HOT coal bed. by HOT I mean that if you can hold your hand over the coals at grill height for more than fours seconds, it's not hot enough. I then place a number of wet hickory chips around the edges of the coals. With all vents open and the lid on, I wait until the pit starts smoking up a storm. I then throw on some 1 1/2" thick steaks, put the lid back on, wait 6 minutes, then flip the steaks and wait five minutes. Voila! Medium rare, hickory smoked steaks. Quote

skillet Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 I have always been a FAN of thick (1 1/2) NY Strips!! All the stores are selling strips but they're not NY Strips :'(, cheaper but not near as good. When it comes to steaks, I'm pretty much a less is more than enough person. Original Weber grill, salt and pepper, HOT fire and if anything else maybe wet mesquite chips. Seared really well on the outside and rare in the middle... As Ever, Skillet Quote
Live.2.Fish Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 No Propane or Charcoal for me. Nothing but hardwood here. Absolutly the best you can cook with. I will never go back to gas or charcoal, ever. Quote
