Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Just wondering if our Missouri members are all safe? Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 9, 2007 Super User Posted May 9, 2007 I lost my house in the flood of '93. Virtually all the houses in my community that were in the floodplain are now gone. The same goes for other communities. Unfortunately the wall of water coming down the Missouri river hasn't this far yet, not till Friday, so we'll have to see what happens. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted May 9, 2007 Author Posted May 9, 2007 Fill the boat and hang tough. Good luck!! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 back in 93 alot of Crystal City was flooded and some of Festus. So far nothing but it isnt here yet. The local creeks, rivers are up but have been for awhile since all the rain last weeks Quote
Bassboy15 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 we're having these problems in central kansas...what a site but i didnt have a camera > Quote
Super User senile1 Posted May 9, 2007 Super User Posted May 9, 2007 So far, it's turning out that the crest is below what was originally predicted on the Kansas and Missouri rivers. While there is flooding in the KC area it isn't coming close to the flood of '93, or, God forbid, the '73 flood. The guys on the eastern side of the state have to worry about both the water from the Missouri and the rains going into the northern Mississippi river. I hope things remain tame in comparison to '93. Good luck, my brothers. Quote

Hawgin Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Well so far God has spared both my folks and my grandparents living in Orrick and Missouri City. Water did come over some of the levees in Orrick, but so far the damage has been kept to a minimum. Yesterday part of the railroad tracks/levee started to falter in Mo. City but the railroad came in with several truck loads of rip rap and were able to get them to hold. In 93 one set of grandparents had 3 foot of water in there house, and the other had 8 foot. I would like to avoid that again if at all possible. Quote
