Super User .ghoti. Posted April 27, 2007 Super User Posted April 27, 2007 A worldwide survey was recently conducted by the UN. The only question asked was: "Would you please give your honest opinion about solutions to the food shortage in the rest of the world?" The survey was a huge failure... In Africa they didn't know what "food" meant. In Eastern Europe they didn't know what "honest" meant. In Western Europe they didn't know what "shortage" meant. In China they didn't know what "opinion" meant. In the Middle East they didn't know what "solution" meant. In South America they didn't know what "please" meant. And in the USA they didn't know what "the rest of the world" meant Quote
Super User Root beer Posted April 28, 2007 Super User Posted April 28, 2007 Why is that joke so true? ;D Quote
michbass Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 From living in other parts of the world not too many people like the U.S. even if we are there to help them. Glad to be back home where I belong in the best country this side of Sweden. jk. but the woman there are :o Quote
RecMar8541 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 Ya know I almost missed the joke here. I see the intent for humor, however, I feel it is a miss. Most americans know what the "rest of the world" is the rest of the world are the ones we feed, with our tax dollars. The rest of the world are the ones we feed, by sending troops to insure aid is recieved by the people (somalia) the rest of the world are the ones liberated from German occupation. (france belgium etc etc) the rest of the world are the ones we send aid to after horrid disasters. We seem to have a bad rap in the world, until someone needs aid from us.....south korea, south vietnam, etc etc. But thank god we have "the rest of the world" cuz if we didnt there would be noone to give aid and help too. Super User .ghoti. Posted May 9, 2007 Author Super User Posted May 9, 2007 Recon, I see your point. I probably should have deleted the last line. I certainly did not intend to offend anyone, least of all a man like you, who has risked his * in some the worlds cesspools. My apologies, sir. GK Quote
RecMar8541 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 You did not offend me in the slightest my friend. In point of fact that is just how the world sees the US, and that is a shame. I took it as the humor it was intended, and I am certain you were making a joke, and not being malicious. And to be honest, it is pretty d**n funny, I just wish it werent so true, and that wasnt how the world viewed us! Your bud Recon Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 10, 2007 Super User Posted May 10, 2007 michbass, I don't want to hi-jack the thread, so I just wanted to say that I lived overseas for 11 years (not in the military) and have traveled to about thirty countries. It wasn't until I arrived in Scandinavia that a began to have problems with a certain part of my body. It kept wanting to stand up and salute the natives. To make matters worse, I found the natives to be VERY friendly. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Whats wrong with feeding those in need? Quote

RecMar8541 Posted May 10, 2007 Posted May 10, 2007 Nothing at all wrong with feeding those in need. I once was in need, and will never forget the man who helped me.....I hold him in the highest regard to this day....thats the difference. However, I do make sure those in my own house are fed before I feed the neighbors. long mike, gooooooooooooo natives lol Quote
