Guest hibachi Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Hey Glenn, I understand this could fall into the politics/religion category for some people, including myself ;D So hopefully you'll let this slide. Just wondering what teams you guys pull for. I'm a huge ALABAMA fan, and can't wait til the upcoming season with Coach Saban. I was one of the estimated 94,000-100,000 who showed up for the A-Day game a few weekends ago. I'll be getting my season tickets in August. I don't think I've ever been this excited about football season starting. ROLL TIDE Quote
Hawgin Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Getting Saban is awsome for you guys. I hope that you are just as pumped for him in few years when he tucks his tail between his legs and walks out on you. I guess as long as the Larry Brown of college football wins a few bowl games then half the state(bama fans) will be happy, and when he quits to take the next glamor job the other half of the state(auburn fans) will be happy. Sorry Hibachi, nothing against you but I have developed a hatred for him and I hope your program turns to crap under his control. Now with that out of the way, I am so pumped for my Mizzou Tigers this year. Chase Daniel throwing to two potential All-American tight ends, a solid running game, and hopefully and improved defense could put us in solid contention for the North and earn us the right to get ran over by Texas in the Big 12 title game. Guest hibachi Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 oh well, i expected to take some flack for being a Bama fan with Saban and all. But, I think a lot of it is jealousy. I'm sure if he were coming to YOUR team you wouldn't have a problem. I look at it like this... I'm a physical therapist, and when I moved up to tennessee I took a job, and it looked great when they were presenting it to me. I got a sign-on bonus and signed a contract to work there for 3 years. I worked there for 6 months and HATED it. Plus there was another job, much more laid back with double the salary. basically the job of my dreams, so what did i do??? the same thing anyone else would (including Saban) I quit the job I hated and went on to do the job I really wanted and knew I would enjoy more, and got paid much more. I'm not going to fault the man for following his dream. and call me naive, but I don't think he's going anywhere. Quote
RecMar8541 Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Im an east carolina fan myself. have some buds playing there and I think their season looks bright! Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 4, 2007 Super User Posted May 4, 2007 Nick Saban & Bama have 1 Major problem Quote
-badhabit- Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 I guess because I spent 6 yrs @ UF I'll have to settle for the Gators ......... Maybe in ? yrs you can have one too (not) ;D Any way you slice it the SEC is the toughest division in college sports (period)! (if you don't believe me ask Ohio ) Quote
Super User Dan: Posted May 4, 2007 Super User Posted May 4, 2007 ^I'm not sure about ALL college sports. Football - yes, basketball - most likely, baseball - not really, other sports- who cares. Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 4, 2007 Super User Posted May 4, 2007 Hibachi, SEC football rules. It will be a lot of fun to see how Saban does with Bama; if Florida can still continue to win; if Miles at LSU can put it together and challenge for a National Title; if Phat Phil Phulmer at Tennessee can be successful for another year; if Tubby can once again do well, beat Bama, and go to a non-BCS bowl (ha ha); if Georgia, playing in the bushes can get to the SEC Title Game again; and if Visor Boy can turn the ***** around and not blow the big games. Yes, with the coaches we have in the SEC this year, and future years, will be fun to watch. Can any school get 93,000 fans to a spring game? Nope. Only in the SEC can that happen. Just one word of caution: The media will love Southern Cal once again so get ready for another year of how great USC is and that they can beat any NFL team. Quote

I'm praise you. Hibachi, I was born at DCH regional hospital. I was basically born a bama fan! For those of you that dont know where DCH is, it right on UA campus. According to mom the hosptial room I was in you could see bryant denny stadium. I for some reason cant watch no football game unless Alabama is playing, if it aint bama, i cant watch it. I can get little emotional during a Bama football game. Since we moved from Tuscaloosa, to Morristown, Tn (30 miles from UT campus) I get lot of crap about being a bama fan. But nick saban ticked me off about one thing. He got rid of joe kines. That man was a defensive genius. If the defense crap out this year because of new coordinator I'm be madder then a nest full of hornet. Brandon Fanney one of Alabama defensive linemen is from same high school I'm currently at. The football coach at my high school went to county high and played for bear bryant at Alabama. Now lets talk about Southern Cal, 3 years ago when Auburn went underfeated before I say this, I truly hate auburn with passion, but the year they went underfeated and miss out on the National Title to play USC. USC would've gotten beat worse then Ohio state. Media just wanted USC to have an easy victory. I mean SEC defense would destory southern cal. Heck the Alabama defense 2 years ago with demeco ryans could've destory USC. That defense was fast and intense. It was greatest defense I ever saw. (in 1992 i was only like 2 or 3 years old and of course I wasn't alive during the bear bryant era.) All I'm saying is put USC against Alabama, LSU, Flordia, and Georgia, week in and week out they wouldn't stand a chance. Arkansas was a fluke. Granted they had a talent running back and a stout defense of line, but hey Alabama beat arkansas if it wasn't for that kicker. >. But hey I'm looking forward to football season. Hopefully I can make a trip to a bama game this fall. As always I bleed crimson and white. It wont be long until ALabama is back in college elites. Quote

I'm not upset about losing Kines at D.C. for one reason. Nick Saban is a defensive genius too. I expected he would be gone, because Saban and Kines don't run the same schemes. It's really fine with me, and I love that Saban brought in Coach Steele, not only a great motivator but one of the best recruiters in the nation. If you look at Saban's staff, there is absolutely a HUGE emphasis on recruiting. Guess he's thinking, if those guys can get the best players to the best school with the best coach, Alabama will be back on top, where they belong! RTR Quote
Super User Root beer Posted May 5, 2007 Super User Posted May 5, 2007 I wish saban could bring ron zook to Alabama, ron zook not the best coach in the world, but by god that man can bring in high recruit. He recruited the Florida national championship team, urban myer just coached them. Ron Zook also bought some high quality recruits to Illinois, he just simiply cant coach. I heard ron zook used to be a fantastic salesman, they say he could sell sand to saudi arbaia. Oh I cant wait to see what major applewhite going to do to john parker he the same fella that coached vince young. Quote
